Premier league is wank

Today was the equivalent of the 0-1 loss to Norwich 2 seasons ago. A tight game where we deserved something but didn't take our chances and were somewhat out shithoused. With a ref who was at best incompetent, at worse complicit.

We learned from that match and improved our own game management as a result. This will be no different.

Premier league is wank. Outside of football it's hideous.

Funny you should mention that, the Norwich game of two years ago crossed my mind today as Southampton dived and cheated their way to three points today.

Totally agree with the sentiments of the OP, the Premier division is a prile of shite, full of overpaid diving primadonnas. People at work looked at me gone out at the end of last season when I was saying how I had mixed feelings about us going up to the Prem. I've taken every opportunity to dip out of games this season, today was my first United game this season and it was everything I was dreading about being in this deprived cesspit of a division.

It really wasn’t. That Norwich game was one of the most horrible shit house teams I’ve ever seen. I thought for the most part Southampton were up for it, didn’t roll over but were a decent team and if we’d played like that we’d think we had a good side. They’ve got some good players there. No chance of them being involved in the dog fight at the bottom based on that.

I agree that I like the championship. Tough league. But I disagree with everything else you say.

I so see what you and the OP are saying, and have been saying for years that the PL has basically screwed up the game to a point where it will never be what it was.

But chin up mate, it won't always be like today, and compare how you feel now to how you felt after we beat Palace, or equalised against the Chelsea millionaires 2 weeks ago. We will bloody plenty more noses this season.

At the end of the day, as unpalatable as it might seem when we see the dark arts at work, we need to be competing at the top table, otherwise there is a very good chance we will slowly wither and die. Look how we gradually diminished after relegation in 2007, drip by drip, season by season. However we do it, we need to stay where we are now, at least for a few years.

Was it fuck. Some people went OTT about that Norwich game imho but they time wasted from early on and got away with taking the piss at times.

Today was nowhere near.

The mardiness and excuses from some tonight is embarrassing and deserves to be laughed at following Southampton's Roy equivalent posting on their board(s).

I had a pig mate gloating that we’d lost a relegation six pointer. I sent him a meme of Britney Spears ‘oops I did it again’ which was number one the last time they played a premier league game. I pointed out that reason too coz he’s a thick pig. Think how long ago that was, I’m in my 40’s, it was fucking a lifetime ago. He fucked off after that. Feel free to use that useful factz

We just weren't good enough today and got punished. If the PL is truly wank it's because we can't play at anything less than 100% and not take our gilt edge chances and fluke our way to results like we did last year.

Tufty knows this and is why he spunked £40m on attacking players in the summer.

Miss chances like we did today and the PL will continue to be wank!!

We missed chances, gave the ball away, had a player sent off for a nobhead of a challenge - yet some people are still blaming the ref, VAR, Southampton dark arts...
 
As I said in the shoutbox today was a must win, certainly a must not lose. I’m just glad Chris agreed.

We had a penalty not given, backed up unanimously by the pundits so far, and the red was soft, again backed up by neutrals. The ref was horrendous 2nd half, especially.

Maybe the Norwich comparison was a bit much, but come on mate, we may have let ourselves down at times today but we weren't fucking helped by the officials either.

Yep, the ref had a bad game but he wasn't the reason McGoldrick missed a sitter (again), Sharp committed a petulant tackle and Norwood kept giving the ball away....
