Why was a premier league referee reffing the efl championship game, the Premier league are nothing to do with the efl so I don't understand why they get involved and the less we say about the wonders of var the better I was always in 2 minds as to whether promotion is a good thing and I'm sure it's not . But I wanted to end the play off hoodoo

Referees for the Premier League & EFL are provided by the PGMOL - Referees routinely officiate a mix of Premier League & Championship games throughout the season in the same way others will officiate a mix of Championship & League one fixtures.

Your usual reminder that "Premier League" refs are as such as they are thought to be less shit than "EFL" refs. If you actively want bad refereeing, Hallam play a few miles that way.

Both Howard Webb and Keith Hackett have stated that our second goal should have been allowed. VAR was meant to intervene only when a clear and obvious error has occurred. Judging by the time Chris Kavanagh took, it was not an obvious error. Not only did we have a legitimate goal ruled out, but our impetus was lost and both the Sunderland team and their supporters were galvanised. The Blades curse strikes again.
