A video (also available as an audio podcast) predicting top 4 Blades transfers in each position that the club will make, we'll look back on transfer deadline day and see how many we got right, would be interested in your predictions.

So Hal, did you pass this onto Jamie H? Some good calls on this vid but are the new recruitment team on the same wave length? I see we are looking at Liam Miller. Was he one of your "one" picks?

going to Burnley

This is predicting who the club will sign, not necessarily the players I want or who I would sign. I've done a separate video on that called 'The Future':

Enjoyed the vid. I'll go with:
GK - Danny Ward
Defender - Mason Holgate
Midfielder - David Brooks
Forward - Kieffer Moore
I can't see us affording Holgate's wages unless we bring him back in on loan. Even then that's a large chunk of the wage bill wrapped up in one player.

He's out of contract and I don't think he'll get any better offers, and since Wilder chased him for so long I can just see him signing permanently.

Side note, like Nick is raiding Ireland, 3 of mine are Welsh!

The game was already lost, on Sunday, when Holgate came on. I was surprised as my gut feeling was that CW would have brought McAtee on, as a sort of "goodbye" to the fans. The fact he brought Holgate on made me wonder if the plans are already in place for him to come back.

He's not out of contract until 2025 but I can't imagine it would take a lot to convince Everton to get him off the wage bill as they are desperate to reduce it. Not that I'd really want him.

Kieffer Moore is such a Wilder signing. Wages dependent I wouldn't be surprised if you're right on all these
I'm assuming McBurnie leaves with that one, doubt we'd go for him if he stays.

Ooooh my bad you're right, it's his contract with us that expires this year obvs and then next year for Everton. Bonus then, hopefully means we won't go for him again 😅

Uninspiring is good. I’m not seeing much beyond what you mentioned as I’ve mentioned in recent threads. We’ll need more than 4 of course.

My view this year has always been to go for tried and tested players, nothing too outlandish and no unnecessary punts. Someone who does what it says in the tin and is dependable to add to what we decide to retain.

Rushworth (loan)
McNair (free)
Worrall (4m)
Browne (free)
O’Brien (loan)
Brooks (loan)
Stansfield (loan)

Gives you a very good keeper who knows the division and will be brimming with confidence.

That would sort out the defence. McNair could also double as a DM.

It would give you a balanced midfield and you could rotate between Arblaster, Hamer and Browne. Browne has also moonlighted at right back so you don’t need to bring in a kid if Bogle isn’t fit.

It would give a mobile attack with skill and graft.

Just 4m on fees and this could be offset against the obvious departures.

Apologies, I didn't realise be was out of contract.

i think kiefer moore is very underated on this forum especially at championship level and would have him instead of mcburnie every day of the week of the others suggested on the stream think worrall is almost certain to join us mcnair a definete possibility as is lewis obrien

Few that I like from league one

GK - Luke Jensen (Lincoln City), Sam Tickle (Wigan)
LB - Burrows (Peterborough)
CB - Cashin (Derby),
DM - Leonard (Northampton), Wiredu (Fleetwood)
CF - Joe Taylor (Lincoln City, on loan from Luton)

If I have to predict which broken puppy Wilder will try to fix this season... i'm going for Wesley Moraes

Kieffer Moore would be an excellent signing and one who could be available and affordable to us. Someone who would help anchor the team, as it is being rebuilt. But I would assume Ipswich would sign him on a Perm now, otherwise he would be a natural replacement for McBurnie. Knowone will pay Holgates wages, I don't see anyone higher than us wanting to loan him and Everton need to reduce costs anyway they can, so I think we would have a strong hand in negotiating wages for a loan, would be obvious one unless we sign McNair...in which case pointless. Would be all over Hamza Choudhury if available, but he was a regular at Leicester last season. Stansfield has Wilder loan vibes. Players like Holgate, Mepham, Brooks could be good loans, given they are in the last year of their contracts and viable frees in a season.
. If Southampton don't go up and lose Harwood Bellis, I am certain they will be in for Wood. Particularly at the back, I like the idea of loaning experience and signing youth, one Worrall/Mepham might buy a Hughes and a Fish.

Some highly likely signings here 👍
I think an interesting thing to consider would be - what if?

i.e. what if Hamer got sold? Who would be the replacement candidates? What is Arblaster got sold? What if McBurnie didn't stay?

A lot of what we are looking at are potential additions to those i.e. Stansfield playing off someone; feels like we're thinking McBurnie for instance.

Just another thought as the summer months drag on :)
