Posting this early as I may not get chance to later

As always, if you watch the SUFC ones on the club website, you'll need to log in. I'll add the SUFC YouTube clips as and when the club post them, but if you find something before me, please add it to the thread.

Wilder is live at 9am on Monday.
Link below will work once announced by the club 👇

I will post some notes once I've watched it

Millwall put their manager pressers behind a login wall. I'll post whatever I find that is open-access

Some notes from Wilder's presser:

Injuries & Absences:
  • Regarding the injured players mainly being back, "I've got some difficult decisions to make. Do I give the players a chance to put it right, who started on Saturday? But it's a three game week. I'm not gonna take a wrecking ball to it, but in my thoughts are some changes I need to make. I like to think any team I put out will give it a right go"

Looking back on the Oxford game:
  • What would you like to have done differently? "Started better. They moved the ball a lot quicker. Take our chances when we had them in the first half. In possession was not at the level we've come to expect. Whole host of things we didn't get right. We have to take our medicine, all the criticism we get. Wheels haven't fallen off. We'll just go again"
  • "We all brought our 5 out of 10 game to the table. But I didn't see it coming or I'd have made some changes before. But it happened and you have to deal with it. But it's not [been happening for] 4 or 5 games where we have to dig ourselves out of a hole."
  • He said he considered just moving on from the poor performance. Pocketing it as something that happens and move on. He chatted with the other staff and they agreed that if this happened in August, they'd have the difficult talk with the players, so they should do it now. So they had a "difficult, painful 45 minute session. The feedback [from players] was that was what we needed. The standard wasn't enough and we needed to see it"
  • Some fans in the away end gave the players some verbals. Thoughts? "It was an absolute disgrace to the players and what they've achieved this season. My media guy told me to stay away from this but I'll meet it head on. If that's what you think of the players, then when we play well, don't be clapping, go home. Be consistent"
  • He talked about the differences between last season's team, attitude, approaches, and how he could understand the verbals last season, but "not this group, don't do it to them. Don't do it to me"
  • "We wouldn't be sat here if we knew everything that was going to happen in life. If we knew what would happen with stocks and shares. But it's not like that"
  • "Oxford is a tough place to go"
  • "I love the golf, but Rory doesn't always shoot 66 does he"
  • "The final three games away from home, hopefully we will do a bit better than Saturday and return to the form from before"
  • "Deal with the disappointment and come charging back"

Looking ahead to Millwall:
  • "I'd put my money on us providing a front-footed quality performance"
  • "We're raring to go on Tuesday night"
  • "Bramall Lane at it's best gives us a huge advantage, boost, push and energy. I can't demand or force, but I know what I'd be doing as a supporter. I'm a backer of my football club and my football team, but I can't dictate what they do"
  • The atmosphere "was outstanding [against Coventry]. I know it's a Tuesday night but it's a huge game for us"
  • Thoughts on Millwall, "Good manager, good players" etc
  • "I'm not sure what their approach will be, whether they'll come and have a go, or sit in and counter, but they need the points for the playoffs"
  • "We need to have a better start than we did on Saturday"
  • "We need to be at our best. We weren't on Saturday. My apologies, but we need to be at our best on Tuesday"
  • They had a brief laugh about needing to manage the historical threat that is Jake Cooper. "They're a threat on set plays"

Interviewers: Adam Oxley, Danny Hall

He was raging about this. You could see in the presser that it impacted him a lot and he had to try to control himself. Every time any interviewer mentioned the fans in any question, it got his back up again.

From where I was in the stand, I thought I had a decent perspective of what went on, but perhaps it didn't see/hear it all. Plenty of fans left and didn't stay for the applause. Fair enough. Those that stayed, the vast majority clapped and a good few positive shouts. The only negative stuff I could see or hear that was loud and directed at the players was the stuff to Gus about his stupid yellow cards. But perhaps there was more, as I say

Couldn’t get a ticket for Oxford but my pal went and told me there were quite a few unused seats in the area allocated to players, sponsors etc
If you don’t use them then send them back to the club ffs so someone can use them

Listen, Alex Neil is a managerial phenomenon. He is a top top operator and I only wish I could operate like him. I can't wait to tip my hat to him and his great players 🎩

From what I could see, Gus, Souza, Peck and someone else I can't remember were stood taking a lot of flack from a couple of fans and were really fuming about it. I had someone behind me shouting at the players too, but the vast majority who stayed were applauding the team. I could hear some boos too but not sure how widespread that was.

Feel free to leave, not clap them off. But shouting abuse / giving flack to your own players in the position we’re in, at this stage of the season, is absolutely infuriating. I think I’d have struggled not to tell those people to STFU.

To win as many away games as we have is phenomenal got to give credit to Wilder and the players and those who gave them stick need to take a look at themselves I don’t travel much these days but when I was a regular away a win would be a proper result

I feel 100% better after listening to that, sounds like Wilders laid into them big time (the fans) I think we will see a Boro/Cov like performance and we will win 3 nil.

Also

Derby 1 Burnley 1
Boro 3 leeds 1

Title back on

A little glimpse/reminder as to what he’s like when it doesn’t go his way.
What? You mean he stands upto abuse??
That sounds more like a reminder of our entitled fans when it "doesnt go our way".

For me, a little bit of an overly prickly reaction from Wilder.

There'll nearly always be a minority that react badly to a loss regardless of circumstances & context.

He's done a really good job of connecting the fans & players (predominantly through winning games) & he risks undoing it a little with overplaying the siege mentality.

He could have nonchalantly brushed it off with words to the effect of:

"I'm sure the vast majority of fans respect what the group has achieved this season, but they've paid their money and travelled down here expecting a performance and we've not done that. We'll do our talking on the pitch on Tuesday night."

Hopefully they react in a positive way tonight.
