Interesting couple of tweets from Mike Stephenson about the young pros. I haven’t watched the youngsters for some time but clearly 13 will not break into the first team squad. Have they extended the right five ?

No but this guy reckons they've been told yesterday.

I don't think the club will announce anything because it's up to the lads to find new clubs from now until their contract runs out.

I'm not surprised, you can't have 13 young pros extended, otherwise there isn't a path for the next batch.

It's a rumour and harsh as it seems for the individuals, we all know we've accumulated too many players all over the shop.

Well he's someone who claims to be ITK. He's been a bit hit and miss but I really have no idea how good his connections are. I suspect he has football connections that aren't necessarily employed directly by the club.

He always tweets what he comes across and posts it to #sufc. That's where I see it.

If I hadn't have posted it here, someone else would have.

Of course, it could be wrong but generally when you see something very specific, there's no smoke without fire.

SkyBet had Edgar Davids at one stage second favourite to be the new manager at BDTBL. From 80/1 to 6/1 in a night.
His twitter circle grew in their hundreds, some were even congratulating him on his appointment.
I think Edgar was a bit bemused.
Haven't got a clue who created that tomfoolery.

Bit early to write the others off with half a season to go sometimes a kick up the arse is what's needed to push some forward,also Eastwood and Ramsdale are both keepers,seems a bit odd to keep both as they both can't play for under 21s,there is still time to win a contract,I will be disappointed if Mcdonagh is released but then ime only a supporter and the coaches hopefully get it right.

I don't how official this is but I wouldn't have released Kahn. Although he doesn't have much height to him, what he lacks in that he makes up for in strength and a good centre of gravity. He's been getting some good reviews at Barrow from what I've seen as well which makes the decision a bit more of a baffling one. Looking back at the list though I don't think I believe we're releasing all those. Banton was meant to be a good player. Can't say much about the rest of them but it's about time we brought some more talent through the academy. I think it's been lacking in recent years.

Imo this is spot on.
Wright & Brooks are the 2 stand outs in our U21 squad.
Whiteman has shown great consistency this season, and delivers excellent set pieces.
Ramsdale is an outstanding keeper, pulls off saves he's no right to at times.
Eastwood has been unlucky with injury this season, but has everything needed to make it as a pro.

Khan started well at Barrow, but new manager Paul Cox opted not to try and extend the loan.
Banton is slightly unlucky, but struggled at Halifax at times, but he has improved considerably over the past 12 months.

I was trying to distinguish between truly confidential and other information. Stuff like kids being released is not top level stuff. It will inevitably be disseminated to far more people (the whole Academy staff, for example) than first-team transfer targets.

People, including local hacks, will get information they think hot off the press. In truth it's already cold. I well remember the sensational Star exclusive of "Warnock last night given permission to speak to Pompey". At that time I was close to events at the club. He'd had his talks 48 hours earlier....

He will be going in the summer, so theyve probably told him to find a club who wants him at the end of the contract and he'll sort a loan there out for him.

Wallace agent probably found Shrewsbury to be that club, the way he worded it makes it look like he was wrong, in actual fact he probably got that one right.

I remembered him getting dogs abuse for claiming that Dan Burn had signed but your post brings back fond memories of his "gasometer being turned up to 5" comment on Harlee Dean. Adkins denied any link and "Strappy" moved on to his next target.

Dimaio played one cup game a year ago. Khan hasn't been involved for 2 seasons and will turn 21 in September.

When Clough was manager the option clause was put in contracts (United have the option to extend contracts for a further year) this was a good idea by clough ,some players hit the ground running while others (young players) need time for one reason or another, so I would expect that Wallace if it was a 2 year contract to have an option to extend the balls now firmly in his court to win that extra year if it was a 2 year one.
As for the young pros who are supposed to be going I take you back to Matt Lowton who Blackwell was releasing.He went to Hungary and came back after 6 months,with a bit of experience and the club extended his contract look where he is now !! making a good living out of the game.
If all the young development players are released where would we pick a team from (under 21) there is not enough quality at under 18 to fill the spaces.Maybe a number of them have been told to get their finger out or they have no real future at the club.I do watch the under 21s when I can and they have been quite competitive In there league (2nd at present) so to release them emblock is a surprise if true.
I also watch the occasional under 18 s game and in my opinion they or most could not step up to the under 21s as they are not physically strong enough or good enough (maybe 1 or 2 could step up) .Where would we fill the under 21s from?.I leave the said IT'K s with that question.
