Will he be going in the summer? When he signed for us some reports said a 2 year deal and some said 3.

He was given a 2 year contract with an option for a third. Many Clough signings were. There are many many players out of contract at the end of the season, who Clough brought in and others such as Baxter and Cuvellier from before. the Squad will be almost half what it is now.

Harris
Collins
Baxter
Cuvellier
J Wallace
McGahey
McFadzean
Kennedy
McEverley
JCR
Long (to be renewed I am guessing)
Howard

Loans

Edgar
Sammon
Hammond (will be here if Adkins is)

Add this to players like McNulty, Diego and Scougs who will probably move onto, and the kids mentioned in this thread. Just hope we get to bring some quality in after that, but feels like we will go back to what we were trying to do. 2 wasted years and the board should take half of the responsibility for that.

I work with one of U21's dads and I was told they'll be a big clear out of the youth players over the next 6 months so this doesn't surprise me
Dimaio played one cup game a year ago. Khan hasn't been involved for 2 seasons and will turn 21 in September.
Anyone who is 21 on 1 September (I think) gets included in the SCMP calculation. They won't be retained if they are nowhere near the first team.

The above is true re SCMP. Not sure that you can compare Matt Lowton to the youngsters we currently have. We were a top end Championship club/premier league side during his development. If our current crop of u21s aren't pushing for first team places at 20 years old for a mid table league 1 club, then they need to be moved on.

If true, I am surprised by Otis Khan being released.

But in their defence they havent been given a run In the 1st team when I think a few of them shouldve been epically some of the November/December when we couldn't keep a clean sheet because beside either mceveley or Collins young old partnership, like we have for many years morgs jags, morgs kilgallon & Collins Maguire come to mind

in the 1 game we gave them a shot, likes of Kennedy Dimaio mcginn Khan & Reed they rose to occasion & beat Rotherham who went on to get promotion. Also a bit like spurs & harry kane how will you find out if you got gem unless you give a some a try

If it's true then I'm a bit disappointed about Khan and McDonagh as I thought they might make it. Especially with the rave reviews Khan's been getting out on loan. Thought he'd at least be decent cheap cover to have around the place if we go with a smaller squad next season.

I will repeat what I said in an earlier post if there is a mass clear out who will play in the development squad. They are not all 20 so quite a few will be eligible next term ,.As for Lowton he was one who had never figured for the first eleven and showed with a bit of experience what he was about, opportunity is the big word and a lot of young players dont show enough drive to push on.Constant changing of manager doesn't help as the dynamics for one manager is not the same for maybe the next.I will still be very surprised if one or two don't win another contract between now and seasons end,or is Adkins going to import a Lord of young players who are eligible for under 21s.

There's a complete seminar here, isn't there?.....

I recall the time just before David Weir was appointed.
SkyBet had Edgar Davids at one stage second favourite to be the new manager at BDTBL. From 80/1 to 6/1 in a night.
His twitter circle grew in their hundreds, some were even congratulating him on his appointment.
I think Edgar was a bit bemused.
Haven't got a clue who created that tomfoolery.

Top memry. I'd forgotten all about that.

Dimaio played one cup game a year ago. Khan hasn't been involved for 2 seasons and will turn 21 in September.

I remember thinking Dimaio looked quite handy in that game, sitting in front of the back four. Looked like he moved the ball well, had a good pass on him. Shame he's fallen away.

were back are we, your not going to wimp out & hide like the last time are you, although do admit probably should've proof read that my youngsters post, ah well problem with typing as i talk :p

I could be wrong. But I don't think any of the players mentioned on the list aren't included in today's under 21 game.
I put it in wrong thread before.

Suppose it's likely we're letting them have trials elsewhere at the moment?
Another interesting thing about yesterday's line up is that only two senior players were there. No DDG, Freeman, McGahey, Scougall and Freeman etc. Dont think they will be in tonight's squad too. They are the ones Adkins asked to find another club?

I can't confirm the actual names but I've been told by someone at the Academy that we have released a large group, as we have simply too many players and they are blocking the way for the younger lads.

It was done now rather than the usual Spring time, to give the released lads more chances to find clubs. This obviously worked for Khan.

Adkins has made it very clear he wants the squad numbers down and most of these lades were 20/21 and so coming up for senior pro status. Like others I had hoped Khan and Dimalo would make it but no sense in filling the squad with 'might have beens'.

"Meanwhile, defender Jake Phillips, who joined the Club at the beginning of the season, has had his contract terminated by mutual consent."

Shows our scouting network is non-league standard.
Because every young prospect we sign doesn't make the grade? So you would say that the top Premier League clubs, who sign far more young players than will ever make the grade, but in the hope that a few will make it, must have a non-league scouting network too.
Unless you mean we scout good non-league players, which in the case of Adams and K Wallace, we did.

Jake Phillips lasted less than a year.
Great judgement, there, eh?

Who scouted Che and K Wall?
It wasn't us - NC already had them on his radar for Derby.

I repeat, just shows our scouting network is non league standard.
Compare it to Walsall and then come all billy BB if you can justify it.

Look at how many players have come in and look at our league position - then look at the long, long list of dross we are looking to off load - then consider how excited you are to see Woolford, Sammon, Hammond, and Edgar - and you'll find your answer.
