lets just invoke the Jurgen Klopp response

too busy a fixture congestion , too hard on the players
same for us , looked knackered after saturdays exertions

I'm not having fixtures as an excuse, at least with Liverpool they have European games on top of everything else, we sack off the cups as quickly as we can and have no more games than anyone else does.

I didn't think Rotherham were lucky at all. They did a job on us, pure and simple. I've not seen it back but it looked like a penalty just before half-time. We ran out of

It looked like a push to me but I’ve seen a couple of real pushes on TV over the weekend where the attacker staggered forward maybe a yard or so after being flat hand pushed in the small of the back. Cert pen to me but it goes to VAR and pen not given. On that basis Enda’s was not a pen.

I've just seen it back and it's an absolute nailed on pen.

I watched from directly behind the goal (in the Rotherham end as a Miller) so the view for most of the action was awful. My take on the game is obviously I'm well happy with a win. If we'd lost that it would be 4 defeats in a row which would have been a depressing stat going into the World Cup break with another away game still to come at Luton.

Obviously you dominated possession but we'd expect that away from home. Our injuries meant we only had 15 pros available and had to fill the bench with some youth team players so to get a result is brilliant and my first win at the Lane.

I was surprised at the direct style you played and thought before kick off we would lose heavily but thankfully the team spirit was there for us tonight which was missing when I went to Cardiff last week.

The other thing that surprised me was the atmosphere. I could not believe how quiet you lot were from start to finish. Sell out at home after a 5 - 2 win knowing you'd be top with a win and I've heard more noise at Dagenham. Is it like this all the time or just when you play us minnows?

I was bored to sleep for most of it so couldnt be helped regards the singing.

Tbh, we play like that A LOT. Sideways, slow passing, no intensity. The players genuinely seem to struggle to get up for games unless something kicks off in the game.

Dunno about the fans not getting up for the ‘minnows’ its the players have a bigger problem with doing that.

Not quite bed-wetting but I thought Hecky got it totally wrong tonight. He didn't put a fresh face in to the team. He had no fucking clue what he was doing with subs and god knows what formation we ended up playing by the end.

Simple changes.

Rest fleck, bring him on later if needed.

Don't start McDiaye. Start Sharp and Reda then bring the McDiaye duo on if required.

Either that or most of the bench we have are not actually fit and are just keeping it warm.
Dropped both to bench for Norwich and got slated. Imagine reaction on here if we had lost that game AND Mcburnie and Ndiaye started on the bench.

The basics … like attempting to win the first ball and then attempting to win the second ball.

Like trying to play forward and be brave instead of checking sideways and backwards.

Like individually trying to step up and affect the game instead of relying on the 2 or 3 better players.

You have your opinion I have mine.

I don’t mind losing but to lose in such a passive manner with a chance to go top of the table is terrible.
It is obviously a very serious issue following the breathtaking victory over Burnley. As you rightly say, it’s about opinions and differences. Mine have no basis in fact, I’m just guessing. I don’t have access to training ground performances or trainIng intensity. I also have no idea when PH is bluffing, just guesswork!

Liverpool are one of a few clubs to add fixtures through success in the PL. The rest are lucky if they get one game a week, not counting cup fixtures.

Championship teams are required to play two, sometimes three games per week. Forty six league dames takes a toll on players, without making fixture harder due to silly World Cup breaks.
I dread to think of the pressure on players like Egan. Almost ever present in the league, full international fixtures throughout the season, and now, meaningless friendlies during what should be a decent WC break.
They are well paid, but obviously, many have their careers cut short through sheer exhaustion or injury. Very few players at the top level over the age of 30. Fancy retiring that young, unless you are an exception like Ronaldo.

Oh I get that we play more games on than Premier League clubs, what I mean is that unlike Liverpool, we aren't playing more games than other teams within our own league. Rotherham's schedule is as intense as ours, it's not an excuse.

You can call it excuses, or I can offer possible reasons. It’s only opinions after all. Rotherham in the same league as us should not have won that game. Is that a reason or an excuse?

I thought the atmosphere started off amazing. E.g. the loud roar after the bugler had finished. It did go really quiet in the first half when we could see things weren't going to plan, and we did do our best to rally them in the second half.

ah but. due to the ridiculous world. cup in mid season the congestion of fixtures is
meaning squeezing half a. season into 3 and a bit months

Liverpool and Chelsea and man City. have much bigger squads than we do

I'll humour you and keep it to the bed wetting thread, but having waited a day to make a reasoned comment all I've got to say is we will not go up this season. Far too inconsistent.

World beaters one minute, absolute dog shit the next

Aaaaaahhh but the injuries … the injuries…

It’s the injuries fault that PH is tactically inept

It’s the injuries fault that our style of football is starting to deteriorate into Wilderball Lite and Pulis ball mark 2.

It’s the injuries that mean 80% of the time we play woeful football.

The injuries… the injuries…
We don't play woeful football 80% of the time, in fact I would say we've played well in at least 80% of our game. Yes it's disappointing
but I have never known an injury list that just goes on disrupting any consistent ability to pick a settled team since I started wtching in1961.
There not always excuses but valid reasons for some poorer performances. I don't claim any great knowledge but have resigned myself to the United way.
Still love them though. Blade forever!

Thing is though, if we drop McDiaye and lose that 1-0, Hecky gets absolute pelters.

For me the HT change should have been Osborn off as he doesn't seem to offer much when on the right side of Midfield.
I'd have put Khadra on with him and Ndiaye playing behind McBurnie.
If not Khadra, maybe Arblaster. Local derby, he'd have been up for it.

We needed to freshen it up a smidge after Saturday's comeback. I don't think Hecky would have got pelters had we finished the match last night with the same team that won Saturday. He just didn't need to start everyone that is all.

What fucks me off is they knew Anel was unwell the moment the match kicked off, so we let him play a fair chunk of the match when we could have just brought Basham on.

Hecky is all over the place with his management of this squad sometimes. Then he scratches his head that we have another 2 players back on the laundry list of injured players.

Should've stood up then like real fans. Was it the first ever away game for most of you? South Yorkshire derby, winning for most of it, and until the last few minutes you were mostly all sitting down. At an away match, who does that?

Good luck for the season boss.
Yes it is usually quiet, but bedlam away, where we are always louder than home fans.
If a shitty ref or a pricky player, someone like Robbie Savage or Alan Smith, Leeds type, wibd up the crowd, it's awesome.
Otherwise it is quiet verging on silent.
