Possible Summer Targets

No need to apologise - I wasn't trying to flame you.

I just get frustrated that, as a forum, we mention countless unrealistic targets, inflate our expectations, then spit the dummy out when we sign our actual targets instead.
Ah I see where you are coming from. You know you'e going to be disappointed and you don't want anyone on here making it worse?

Nope, not even close.

I could just do without the hysteria come September the 1st, when people are crying that we didn't sign their preferred, unrealistic target.

From what wilder has said think he is happy with our two wing back positions
His targets are
Keeper
Centre half
Striker x 2
Wide guy

And then the obvious any young player into the development squad
He is also aware that he has good potential in some of our existing development players and does not want to block their progress

I know. I got real mardy and wrote a whole long bitter response then had a word with myself and deleted (most :)) .

In my defence if people are going to get the face on when we don’t sign Flint etc they’re going to do so whether I’ve said we should be in for him or not.

The main cause of what you’re on about is the idiots and 12 year old wannabe journos who make up that we’re going to sign ‘x’ ‘y’ and ‘z’.

Fair enough, I appreciate you sparing me your original response. :)

You are right as well that the main source of the hysteria are click-bait "news" sites and twitter.

I still take issue with you suggesting Troy Deeney though ;)

Yeah agreed point taken.

There'll be at least one decent, promising striker currently underachieving, that Wilder can get a gem out of.

Fulham are in for flint for 9m.

Although I’ve heard Troy Deeney was seen in Greggs on the Moor today.

Armand Traore anyone? 28 Years Old, Left Back. Was on loan at Cardiff from Forest last season but struggled to displace Joe Bennett who was one of Warnock's favourites. 1 year left on his Forest deal.

Is he the kid who used to play for Arsenal?

Yeah saw that... :)

Totally proves my point that we should be in for him.
.

I dont think it does. Clubs make mistakes all the time. He may still turn out to be a journeyman and be a complete flop in the prem.

Sorry I wasn’t being serious. Totally out of our league with regards to signings.

Another one to throw into the mix - Henri Lansbury.

If Villa are having a fire sale he could be a coup for someone in this league, still only 27.

Don't need a midfielder...we need a new keeper, centre half, at least one centre forward and a quick winger. He's also meant to be on 40k a week

Two players we should definately be in for are Danny Baath and Ben Marshall from Wolves. In fact we should be targeting players from the club's who have gone up from the Wolves, Cardiff and Fulham who have gone up and won't be in their plans next season when they bring in a load of new signings each. Both Baath and Marshall are still.ypung enough to make an impact and have played well in the championship previously. In fact I would say that Marshall had a big say in Milwall flying up the able last season with his pace and how quickly they broke on teams like they did us at the Lane. I also wouldn't be surprised if we were back in for Webster at Millwall also but hopefully we have moved on from him as I think we need better. We could do with finding the next Chris Morgan.

It might have been an idea to look at Blackburn, Wigan etc as well if they had stayed down to cherry pick their best players but as they have gone up that seems a non starter now.

Batth would be good.

Marshall doesn’t fit into our system.

Pontus Jansson ? or would he be too much ?
Pontus Jansson, like Aden Flint, is a shit defender but a brilliant shithouse and his move to Leeds was only made permanent less than a year ago which was a reported £3.5m (after a huge farce) so I doubt he'd be cheap too.

Few more names, some based on an increased budget and quite optimistic:

Adam Webster
- Ipswich CB mentioned previously, had good aerial stats last season, is only 23 and looks to have a year left on his contract. Highly rated player who would be a coup for us.

Connor Goldson - There are rumours Brighton could sell to Rangers for £2m. That would be great value. Tall, athletic CB, decent on the ball and can play RB.

Byron Webster
- Also been mentioned previously, looks like he's out of contract. Had a knee injury but as long as he recovers, he'd be a good free transfer. Could be the dominant CB we lack.

Liam Lindsay - Tall CB who was Barnsley's best player last season. Only 22. With them relegated maybe we could get him.

Matt Targett - Left back with good attacking and crossing ability. With Southampton and Fulham both in the PL next season he could go out on loan to the Championship again.

Armand Traore - Already mentioned, but one I've had in mind since Forest away. He looks like a natural LWB, athletic, combative and decent on the ball. Should be available. Would be an upgrade on Stevens.

Sam Byram - Would be an upgrade at RWB if we could get him on loan. Would probably mean selling Freeman or Baldock though.

Oliver Norwood
- With Brighton and Fulham both in the PL next season he should be available. He'd considerably improve our quality and depth in midfield.

Jacob Butterfield
- Solid midfielder with two good feet and a powerful shot. Derby and Wednesday haven't got the best out of him. Wilder has indicated that he rates him in the past. Would cover every central midfield area for us. One year left on his contract.

Bjorn Johnsen
- Already linked with us. Tall USA born CF playing for ADO Den Haag and Norway. Had a good season in the Eredivisie with 19 goals. Contracted until 2020 but might be affordable now.
