Possible Summer Targets

If we can’t get Jamal back, Dean Henderson of Shrewsbury (loaned from Manchester United) is definitely worth a gamble on. In my opinion the best English goalkeeper outside of the prem. very good in the air and has a huge amount of confidence.

Sam Johnstone and Daniel Bentley I would put both ahead of Henderson at the moment.

As part of the goalkeepers union, I wasn't that impressed with how Henderson dealt with balls coming into the box. Must admit he does look (play) shorter than his reported 6'3 frame.

I’ve seen Robertson mentioned a few times, but I think the general consensus with QPR is that he’s been holding out for a move to Fulham for a while and I think they’re probably favourites to sign up, although now they’ve been promoted the type of target might have shifted for them.

Bristol City interested in him but he's asking for silly wages.

Be interested to see Jayden Stockley play today. 6’3” and scored twenty odd goals. Only 24 and came through at Bournemouth. Anyone seen much of him?

Nope but here's my prediction...play well today and his fee is 2m...play badly and he's probably not that good !

I hear Coventry have got a centre forward who is on fire

Okay... my looking at it very unrealistic but yet arguably plausible shopping list of players I’d like to see us buy (I wouldn’t expect us to be able to afford anywhere near all of them but a couple would be nice).

Gk - JAM or Danny Ward on Loan.

LB - Joe Bryan: Bristol City. Would love him at the Lane, think he’d fit right in and for me is the type of player that we ‘should’ be in for. Cost: expensive but affordable. Wages: Affordable. Likelyhood: unfortunately 2/10. Would also add Rico Henry: Brentford as a contender for LB signing.

CB - Aden Flint: Bristol City. Would be a high statement signing however if he was to leave I’d expect one of the relegated teams to buy him. Cost: Unlikely. Wages: affordable. Likelyhood 2/10.

CB - Joe Worrall: Forest. Will go far. Would be a signing that would only increase in value. Cost: Would be our marquee signing so questionable. Wages: affordable. Likelyhood 3/10 (he’s also a Nottingham lad so he’d really need to see us as having a go).

ST - Ashley Fletcher: Sunderland. Thought he looked REALLY REALLY good the back end of the season and would give us that option we’re looking for. Cost: Affordable Wages: at a cut affordable Likelyhood 4/10.

ST - Troy Deeney: I know it’s weird but I listen to him in interviews and think the dude would totally buy into what Wilder was selling and I think would bully the shit out of the championship. Cost: probably attainable Wages: Troublesome Likelyhood: 3/10.

Think you can forget a LB but some interesting suggestions.

If we’re in for Bristol City defenders, I hope their total cluelessness against us earlier this month was not typical or it’s going to be a long season.

Other than maybe Ashley Fletcher, the chances of any those transfers is below 1/10.

Troy Deeney is Watford's talismanic captain, on a reported £100k a week and played 31 games last year - this forum amazes me sometimes.

Michael Dawson is set to be available on a free. He's 34 and I would have preferred someone younger but he played 40 league games last year as Hulls captain so it shows he still has it. Reckon he could be a good experienced head to have in the middle of the back 3 on the cheap for at least a season.

Thought I’d heard he’s on his way back to Forest

I would fully disapprove of this unless Stearman was leaving.
I can just imagine him and Stearman tapping it about to eachother for ages, getting pushed further and further back until it either gets hoofed or Stearman eventually plays a forward pass to somebody who is clearly marked and they lose possession in the final third and both Stearman and Dawson are too shit and slow to tackle the onrushing attacker and we concede.

Tom Lockyer at Bristol Rovers. Seems to fit our profile. I'd expect him to be known to our scouting department - whether he's a top target is another matter.

I wouldn't like to play Stears and Dawson together either. I'd play Dawson in the same role as a replacement/upgrade in the central role.

I love Stearman but I think out of our back 3 he is the most likely to get replaced. Dawson has far more experience than him and he is good at barking orders, positioning, aerial ability and marshalling a back line; all areas I think we've been lacking in defensively this season.

If it was purely for experienced competition for Stearman with both vying for the central position in the back three then I wouldn't be against us going in for Gareth McAuley. He would bring a calm, experienced head to our defence and even at the age he is, he'd prob a my be an upgrad

There's also Gareth McAuley who is seemingly on his way out of WBA who could be good competition for the central spot.

Have to agree. Sam Johnstone is, in my opinion, the best English keeper outside of the prem and also in my opinion the best in the championship - closely followed by Bialkowski (ignoring relegated teams yet to sell players).

I've always liked him and I agree he'd be a decent signing and someone who can improve further. Much rather him than a Dawson type who will want big wages and has no sell on fee. Hull fans think he's past it too.

I'd love to get him. Welsh international, Bristol captain last season, only 23 and has already had over 200 starts. I think if we're looking for a right footed JOC he's the guy.

After seeing him at the Lane last year, I would suggest he's more of a Wendy-style signing.

Hardworking, honest and a leader?

If he came asking for silly wages and a guaranteed spot then fair enough, I agree with you. If he came with a similar 1 year contract to Donaldson and a view to being a good short term fix for the first team while other players improve then I'd be all for it.
