Possible Summer Targets

Jon Nolan is a good one to add to the list. He's got a bit of Fleck and Duffy about him. Could be worth a punt, especially if we lose Fleck or Brooks, and he wouldn't cost as much as some of the other options. I could see him developing well with good players around him.

Has been suggested elsewhere that a possible swap + money could be done with Thomas currently on loan at the Shrews.

Eisa would be a good shout for me. Looks a competent finisher from what I’ve seen and will be relatively low risk. If we were to do this and it comes off then surely it’s win win.

Someone told me he’s in his last 6 months of his contact but I don’t know how true this.

He signed an extension until 2020, but he should still be very affordable and I wouldn't be surprised if he has a release clause.

Put all your money into an Eisa !

Nedum Onuoha - Experienced, athletic right sided centre half. Out of contract. We could do much worse.

Brad Potts
- Would be a good one to pick up if Barnsley go down. He's a good physical specimen and a proper box to box midfielder who's got goals in him. Still only 23. Currently we don't really have room for him though.

Romaine Sawyers - One to look at if we lose Fleck or Brooks. Silky attacking midfielder who'll run with the ball, link things up and score a few.

Jack Payne
- Would be easy to sign from Huddersfield. Has been on loan at Oxford and now Blackburn. Tricky little attacking midfielder, clever player. Only 23.

Ben Woodburn - Possible loan from Liverpool if we sell Brooks.

Conor Washington
- Entering the last year of his QPR contract so could be quite affordable. Hardworking, powerful runner who can make things happen. Needs to find his shooting boots though. Maybe he could in our team.

Apostolos Vellios
- A decent all round centre forward and target man who's capable of doing more than he has at Forest. The sort of gamble we have to consider if we can't spend millions. Could see him doing well under our management.

Will Grigg - Goalscorer. Will surpass 20 in all competitions this season despite injury issues. Another striker we could take a calculated gamble on in the absence of a big budget.

I've been impressed by Potts on the few times I've seen him - an elegant but hard working midfielder who has done well at Barnsley since making the step from L1 & 2 but, like you say, central midfield is the one area Utd have amply covered. Washington I like as a player but there remains a question as to whether he'd score enough. I still think Gregory is the most likely recruit up front despite Millwall having an option.

Danny Batth at Wolves. Struggling to get a game, and with them being promoted and an endless pit of money would probably be available.

Kortney Hause too, could be a good loan.

Marco Stiepermann - A midfielder but I liked the look of him at LWB for Norwich at Bramall Lane. Tall and mobile with a good left foot. Very versatile, can play all across midfield.

Lewis Baker - Possible loan from Chelsea, especially if we lose Fleck. Technically good, two footed midfielder who can run with the ball and make things happen.

Ashley Fletcher - Pacy, tall young striker. Boro spent a ridiculous fee on him and he's not done a thing for them. Will probably be out on loan again. Obviously has potential. Maybe they wouldn't loan to a possible rival though.

Jordan Hugill - Could we get him on loan? Probably not, but worth a try. Good hardworking all round centre forward.

That is George Maris at Cambridge United. A real maverick with outstanding talent.
A young mans Duffy.

See what you did there. Your username is an anagram of Mr Maris. Good luck to your young un.

Surprised nobody mentions Nahki Wells ? Could be available for a reasonable fee ?

I also thought Stiepermann was impressive against us. Only signed on with Norwich last summer though on a 3 year deal.

Looks like he was in their team at left back until a groin injury, he's since had an operation and Jamal Lewis has come through and made the position his own. They're cost cutting so maybe they'll be willing to sell.

Matt Grimes - Swansea midfielder who's done well on loan at Northampton. Seems like the type we'd go for. Left footed and versatile, can play all across midfield in attacking or more defensive roles. Takes a good set piece. Could possibly play LWB. Only 22 years old - think what Fleck was doing at that age.

1.That kid that Barnsley have on loan from Swansea (loan)
2. Matt Smith from QPR (if they would sell)
3.Jamal (perm or snorther loan)
4. Will Grigg
5. Mark Beevers
6.Jackson Irvine
7. Joe Riley (loan)

Don’t think any are beyond the realms of fantasy.

Depending where Barnsley end up, I would look at Moncur, if we are needing any more midfielders.

Idrissa Sylla - QPR striker who's just got back from injury. Scored a brace against the pigs tonight. 27 years old, 6 foot 1, good all round athlete and strong in the air. Potential 15-20 goal striker. Going into the last year of his contract.

Jake Bidwell:Left back/left wing back who has always impressed me, both at Brentford and now QPR. When QPR came on strong in the second half at the Lane Wilder changed our tactics specifically to stop him coming forward. Donaldson played as more of a right winger than a striker. In the last year of his contract next season and a good age at 25. They are believed to have paid 1.3 million for him; a deal at around half of that would be excellent business. QPR have financial issues so should be a club we target.

My choices currently would probably be:

Jamal Blackman - Loan
John Egan - £1.25m
Jack Robinson - Free
Ben Marshall - £1.75m
Sammy Ameobi - Free
Sam Gallagher - Loan
Mohamed Eisa - £500,000

Don’t see Blackman or Gallagher being available for loan. Both Southampton and Chelsea will be looking for permanent moves.

Good shout. Could play LCB as well. Might be a bit expensive for a LWB for us though.

I don't see why Chelsea won't let Blackman go on loan another season. I agree about Gallagher though because Southampton are probably going down. But they'll keep him rather than sell him. McBurnie should top our list instead.
