When can we sign players on Loan? Is it straight away or do we have to wait a little bit, like usual

Keep seeing Marvin Johnson’s name about he would be a good addition.

Twirlo:

"the two loan to buys are 11 million one costing 6 mil the other 5 mil. the loan player only will be 1 million in wages. so wilder will have approx 6-7 million in jan to spend from his original season budget."

Absolute first rate nonsense. Surely.

Checked out his posts this summer and looked back on older too. Has he ever got anything correct? I couldn't find proof of doing so

Could be feasible. We get more from the Brooks sale in January plus the January transfer window budget itself (usually discussed in October time but perhaps brought forward?).

That could be chucking all our eggs in one basket though, if other positions are in need of strengthening by the time Christmas arrives.

Norwood's obviously one of the loans and he wouldn't cost anywhere near 5 or 6 million so that's the main reason I'd doubt it.

Additionally, no one like Luke Freeman or Ryan Woods for example will be allowed to leave on loan to buy deals - they'd have to kick up one hell of a stink for that to be considered.

Are these the Chelsea trio he told us about?

Connor Wickham available for loan according to Nixon. Stoke and Blackburn interested.

This leads me to believe the striker will be from a championship side. If we were going to sign a PL loan then why not sign now instead of waiting until the deadline? The PL deadline has passed, so Burnley, Southampton etc can't make any more additions. Championship clubs can, so I think we are waiting on certain champ clubs to see if certain players will be surplus to requirements come the end of the window.

It's said to be Scott Hogan.

That would be very bad news for Billy Sharp. Which is another reason I'd prefer us to go for a big man like Gallagher instead.

There would also be more scope for a permanent transfer with Gallagher.

Am I right in thinking Hogan hasn't played a single minute of pre season? Not doubting his talent but don't want to be waiting till Christmas for him to get his arse into gear.

Not sure about his pre season minutes, but he's done his ACL twice I think and that's another reason I'd prefer us to look elsewhere.

Hogan is or was very quick before his injuries. He's also played as a lone striker, I think he's got a bit of everything, pace, power, decent in the air. All this is of course dependent on him being/staying fit. And of course WAGES!

Not at all irritating to see Armstrong start up front and score two good goals last night highlighting something we lack and something that would fit right into our team.

We have no one who makes runs like him. We have no one like him full stop. We own no attacker with potential like his.

Thought exactly this last night when I noticed he'd notched too... shame.

He scored against a League two side? And we are jealous?

In the league Blackburn start him on the bench!

You've got a point to be fair, for all one league games he's been there, he's been on the bench.

Erm... Did I say I was jealous?

Said it was a "Shame", because for £1.75m that Blackburn got him for it's almost be a no lose investment.

We were thinking of around £5m for Waghorn with one decent season at this level who is 29 in Jan, if he doesn't hit the same heights do you think someone would buy him for a similar amount (was it £7.5m Derby paid)?

Armstrong has something we don't have much of at the minute, pace, he's also young so even if it doesn't work out we'd more than likely be able to sell him for a similar amount.

Not saying he'd be a starter or our saviour just from an investment point of view looks like one with little downside.

No downside at all.

If he doesn't get in the team, loan him to L1 and watch him run riot and increase his value.

The Waghorn comparison makes it even more daft that we didn't pursue him.

He would've actually been more suitable for us than Blackburn. We play with a proper front two, Blackburn usually play with one up front with Armstrong likely to support from the left. He can still do well for them in that position but would be better as part of a front two where he can regularly make runs off the last defender. He could also drift left and provide width and creativity.

With Norwood, Coutts, Fleck and Duffy supplying him he could've scored a hatful here.

You sound jealous Ricky ;)

Another of the names in the O/P, Reece Burke, looked good to me on Tuesday, and for an apparent £1.5m, seems considerably better value than Egan. He's younger and better on the ball for a start. Looks more comfortable at RCB, and I'm sure he could do the central role too.

Talking of over inflated prices looks like Wankhorn is struggling to justify his price tag, subbed off today.
Absongalonga played and scored again and Johnson was on boroughs bench.
Wonder if Marriott enjoyed being on the wrong end of 7?
