Souza - MOTM for me, absolutely fantastic performance. Bossed the midfield and had an attitude that showed that he wants to be here. Probably the best i’ve seen him play since he has signed.

Arblaster - Great for him to get his first senior goal for the Blades, it will only further boost his confidence from here. Looked calm and collected when he had the ball.

Gilchrist - This lad looks unbelievable, great strength and looks so comfortable on the ball. Was rarely out of position and looks steady at the back.

Yeah I agree, hopefully with that winger from Palace coming in and Campbell we will look stronger

Totally battered them. Should have won comfortably. Worry will be if we get injuries to Hamer, O Hare, Moore, etc, but great start, cant fault us.

Clean sheet is huge for the back 4 and keeper as we only had 1 last season. Gives us confidence that we don’t have to score at least 2 to win a game

First and foremost getting rid of the minus points. I was worried a couple of poor results early could snowball and heads drop quickly.

Secondly, it’s worth remembering that we have had a high churn of player and are playing in a new formation on top of that. Preston aren’t the best of sides, but they’re typically not the worst either. Weirdly our goals were a bit “lucky” in how they came about, but we had more than enough other chances to negate that point.

I thought Keiffer Moore was a real positive also, lead the line really well.

The positive thing for me overall though was how we won the ball back, relentless to the last minute - a sign of a proper team.

Souza twice switched off and let his man run off, but recovered well and made an excellent last ditch slide tackle to make up for one. Other than those two slight things (which would have been finished last season) he was very good in midfield with arblaster.

Could be a big season for him if we keep him, and I hope we do same with anel.

I would normally have been at the game, but wasn't tonight. It's not always easy to tell on the box, but it felt a bit more Sheffield United, the tempo was there. The fans and players seemed to have a bit more of a buzz about them.

I'm not just comparing that to last season, but also the Hecky promotion season where something was severely lacking. It's ridiculous to say that after one game, but if it's true, that's the biggest positive for me.

Hopefully get 2 or 3 more players in next week and we should have a strong bench to back up what looks to be a solid starting 11.

A good away performance with a clean sheet.Although the bigger battle with the pigs fighting it out at home against other relegation contenders Plymouth, both escaped by the skin of their teeth.

Souza motm agree. Burrows played well too. Him and Gilchrist are young, aggressive and talented. In fact I was most pleased with the defensive performance. Solid.

Not seen anything, but if everyone is talking about Souza and the defence, then very good.
Souza is the key support for Arblaster. Surely they are looking at each other and thinking "I'm better than you!"

Game was in a way a bit messy.
Yet we controlled it.

Easily could have been 4 or 5-0.

At times some real nice play for us. Also some sloppy passing which we can't do going forward much.

But I'm liking the early signs

Fantastic performance and result, we could have racked up a cricket score with a bit more composure.
Souza is either playing for a move, or he's decided to knuckle down. Personally, and unfortunately I think it's the first. He would be the best destroyer in this division by a mile, but a destroyer that can play a bit as well.
