Got talking to a couple of lads yesterday who happened to mention that we’re off to Portugal for our pre-season trip. Anyone else heard anything? I know it’s usually a Wendy thing but as Carlos isn’t there any more I suppose it’s plausible.

Did they say Lagos, coz if so it might not be Portugal, it could be Nigeria.

Hopefully something I the Albufeira region between 4th and 14th June. Imagine that's too early :(

I suspect that is too early. Mid-July by all accounts. Similar to Malaga this season.

I spend much time in Portugal. Albufeira mainly. Lisbon great place to stay. I will keep my ears open for this potential pre season trip and go. I'm down there in 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 14 weeks. Based on the crap weather we have I think I made a good choice for short flights down to Faro.
If I hear owt will post an update.

Sounds good. I’ve posted all I know. The lad said he’s 99.9% it’s Portugal. The 0.1% is Holland. He lives on the same estate as Alan Knill so he may have heard summat from that end.

Anything you might hear will be good though. Just gives me time to get it booked.

With the bonus that there are loads of potential investors in Nigeria, I'm just emailing my bank details to one now.
Are you also related to the recently deceased prince? Its amazing what you can find on ancestry.com Would be lovely to meet the family, so kind of them to help me and you out financially especially with us being quite distant relatives.

Does he really live on an estate? I’d have thought he was a ‘development’ man nowadays...

Playing at that weird new stadium that no one can afford to play in down near Faro would be cool. I think Gibraltar were the last team to play in it as they won’t play in Spain...

Either way Southern Portugal would be a good pre Brexit choice. There or Ireland..

I'll be in the Greek Islands again at the end of July, just a week this year, this has no relevance to United's tour.

Don't we all love a flashy SwissBlade flaunt? Though it is somewhat disturbing to read this is only a week. Times are hard when Swizzler is restricted to just a weekly jaunt. I preferred the good old days when we got pics of him with young Japanese women offering him their cans.

Yeah you can blame the missus for being a teacher, we only get 2 weeks off together this summer, so i'll be in Switzerland for one of them and then meeting her in the Greek Islands.

Its a nightmare having 6 months off a year.

But I tell you what, i'll do my best to get you a photo of me with some young Japanese women when i am there this Easter.

I was looking for the ones you posted on here from a previous Japanese trip, think they were handing out cans of something sweet and fizzy, but couldn't find them.

Is everyone too polite to mention the shorts spillage? I'd have thought the PA taking the photo would have mopped it up or got a change out of the limo.

I think it might've been mentioned 5 years ago when i originally posted it! :D

This was the same day that i was doing tequila slammers with Bez

It is also on my 'to-do' list so where would you recommend?

We did a nice tour of the Cyclades last year - Syros, Tinos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Ios, Folegandros and Santorini

Of that lot the only one we wouldn't go back to is Santorini, behind the stunning facade its a shithole, expensive one at that. Mykonos is mega expensive but had an amazing time there.

But I'd say the best of them was Folegandros and Paros.

My Advice is get a flight to Athens and then pick up the ferries from Pireaus.

You can island hop in the true sense if you don't go in high season, but if you're in high season book your hotels with Booking.com or similar and work your way around the islands.

Better to pick a group of islands like the cyclades and just explore - a few days on each island.

Only issue is that you have to plan the logistics around ferries, but its dead easy to do and ferries are cheap

Many thanks, will check it out, this year we do Peru. I should also add that my wife's preference is to find a place to hang out for a couple of weeks rather than and be on the move all the time - rent a villa (?).

Yeah certainly plenty of islands where you can do that. I’d avoid the likes of Mykonos for that but plenty of islands to choose from
