Any recommendations on where to get a pint with fellow S24su members?

I have got tickets for the snooker on the Friday evening. I had plans to go to this match before they changed the date from the Saturday.

I Can't decide whether to give the snooker up, or go to the football?

...........................if someone had a spare ticket and would like to give me a lift, I really will be in two minds.

No idea!

it seems a very long time ago (it was), since I organised a VP meet up in a pub in the middle of Burslem, which involved amongst others Shiny Blade. It also involved Stafford Blade being deeply unhappy that the landlord thought he was underage, I think he was a PE teacher at the time, and then going in to Vale Park through the Juvenile turnstile, where looking young wasn't quite such a bad thing.

Not sure what time we'll be around as setting off from work at 4pm and pub info from the FGG:

Unfortunately the choice of pubs for away supporters to drink in near to the ground or in the town centre is very limited as Nick Williams a visiting Plymouth Argyle fan informs me; 'Apart from the Bulls Head, which was very welcoming, every other pub in the town that we found had signs up saying " Home fans only". This also included the closest pub to the ground, the Vine.'

Luckily the Bull's Head which is located in St John's Square, is a cracking pub. It is the local outlet for the nearby Titanic Brewery and is listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. It is friendly for away fans. It has a BBQ on matchdays, has up to nine real ales on offer as well as up to 10 traditional ciders and perries. To find this pub: From the outside of the away end, turn right and go down to the bottom of Hamil Road (passing the Vine Pub on your left). Turn right at the t-junction and then go straight across the traffic lights at the crossroads. Proceed past KFC, Wades and the New Inn on the right and then if you look over to your left, you will see a square with the Bulls Head, which is located on the right of this square. Pete Gardner a visiting Oxford United fan informs me; ‘Both the Leopard and Post Office Vaults, which are both near to the Bulls Head were welcoming to us.’ It is about a ten minute walk. In additional alcohol is available in the form of bottles of Greene King IPA (£2.70) & Carlsberg (£3.10) in the ground.

URGENT UPDATE!

Last minute decision to go. Can we pay on the gate? Where's everyone drinking?

Yep, cash only from the away sales point... which used to be a little cabin thing :)

Wow, you mean the away ticket office sells beer? :)

I doubt the little cabin has been replaced by anything very substantial. We are talking about about a club that half rebuilt its main stand when the money ran out, so they stopped and left it literally half-finished, ie up to the halfway line and no further, for donkey's years. In fact, it's a while since I've been and I'm not sure it's finished even now.

Wembley of the North indeed.....

Just checked the post and no ticket, no ticket on my account history either... so must've clicked a wrong button... so I'll be okaying on the gate.

Anyone want a lift from Chesterfield? i'll probably have to set off at 1700 as i'm waiting for a furniture delivery

What is Stafford up to these days?

He became one of the coaches for Greenhill u11s in 2008-09 (my son played for them that season) and had carried on coaching the same team when they moved to the next age group until last year due to family committments (he has a young daughter). I dont think he watches the Blades as much as he did

Thought you would be still a bit too young for a Bath Chair Swizzers.

Cutting it fine leaving only 2 hours and a bit to fit in some neck oil time aren't you?

Sadly ponsfords fecked up and decided to post a letter in march to tell me my furniture was ready for delivery... After I told them not to post anything to me because I'd be in Japan. The only slot they had was after 1600 today.

I'm driving anyway, should only take 1:30

Just arrived and parked at the ground (for anyone coming over)

Another good win, and two goals no less.

If only we hadn't had what was apparantly a perfectly good goal disallowed against Swindon, we'd be in 7th place and the Play Offs would still be a possibility..
