It’s a hard question to answer. Obviously the owners are primarily to blame. To puncture forward momentum at a club that has worked so hard to get back on the horse is poor. They can make excuses and give reasons, but it’s shit. If they don’t accept that, they’re kidding themselves.

If Wilder is indeed in talks with Sunderland before the season is even over, that’s not too classy and a bit disappointing.

As ever the ultimate losers in this are the fans. They are the club, yet are treated with 0 respect time and time again (not just at United, mind. Throughout football).

We are the best club for him at this stage in his career. He's had one year in the Championship and finished 11th.

I'm no friend of the board, but the fact that Wilder expects a situation involving complex negotiations and litigation to be resolved in a matter of weeks is frankly ridiculous.

The boardroom unrest could well be a convenient peg on which to hang his real intentions to move to a club where he is familiar with the new owner and would have a greater degree of control.

It's a good question, and I'm not sure I have a good answer at this stage.

The fact is I love Chris Wilder and it would be an even worse betrayal in many ways. It was much easier for me to dismiss Warnock as a prick.

I don't know if I could ever hate Wilder as such. If he goes, it would just be, well...sad.

He wouldn't need to formally talk to Sunderland.

He already has a relationship with the new owner. They could easily talk to each other on informal basis but with a prospective view to him moving.
