Heckingbottom did unbelievably well when he was under no real pressure. Now we are expected to be up there it's a different challenge for him. Will be interesting to see how he comes out of it
Yeah, it’s like the old Man U thing where some players just couldn’t cope with the expectation of winning every week. We’re one of the big clubs in the championship. We’re expected to be at the top end, challenging for an automatic spot. It’s not easy when we’re struggling to recruit because most of our income is committed to the existing players’ wages. We made one good signing this season, Anel. Doyle’s OK but still learning, McAtee is just a kid and Khadra seems to be a mardarse. We might have got away with that if it wasn’t for the injuries but with Berge, Bogle and Lowe, we’re lacking creative quality in attack. Add that to a weak midfield and a porous defence and you can see where our problems are. If we’d had those three, plus Clark or Robbo in defence, we’d have too much for most clubs to cope with. Without them, we’re a bit meh. Completely dependent on Ndaiye doing something.

I think it is too early to talk about ditching the manager. We have managed brilliantly with covering for injuries at the end of last season and at the start of this but the level of injuries is and has been ridiculous. Serious ones too. From what Hecky has said proper training with a full squad has been impossibe for some time with so many out or in light training. With matches coming thick and fast it is no wonder that some of the others are are showing signs of fatigue, both mental and physical. Bash's challenge was perhaps a case in point. I don't like to see us go to sides like Coventry and set up to defend though. Coventry, although bottom had only conceded 1 in their last five matches. I also can't undertstand why he didn't try Brewster of Khadra last night. Are they the fresh legs for Saturday? Perhaps he would have been happy with a point.

Having seen the managers insipid post match interview laced with tetchy, defensive and dismissive comments I see a man out of his depth.
I have one question.
Does anyone believe he has the skillsets, personality and frankly a pair to turn us round because we are without a doubt borderline freefall.
Injuries-sminjuries
bad luck-sad schmuck
All that fist pumping on the pitch post match with Hecky, Jack and Stuart McAll already feels like a distant memory. He is bomb proof as results aren't important.
They are to me and if they aren't to every single Blades fan we are really in the brown stuff.
January mid table and we kiss goodbye to Sander, Ilian and Anel. Just imagine the post apocolyptic disintegration that would follow but it wwouldn't matter because the revenue from that tranche of sales is what it's all about.
This season is a watershed. Fail to gain promotion guarantees the sales of all assets on the pitch, pennies from sales given to the manager as he bloods the next crop of cash cows, Osula, Jebbo, Arblaster and so it goes, rinse and repeat.
Then we have the drastic reduction in parachute and season ticket income.
Anyone who thinks we aren't close to a moment that will define our fortunes for years to come is sleepwalking off a cliff.

FACTS

Didn't do a bad job last season did he.
I maybe called happy clapper! I'm not ! Just looking at it sensibly.
I don't get why you are always on the club's back! all the time .Yes we've gone off the boil at bit! But how many blades anticipated being top after 10 games with the injuries we've had.
Time to get behind em not be so critical at this time.

Those comparing Wilder's promotion team against the current one is missing a big difference.

Momentum aside, the promotion team had a number of players reaching their professional peak (Fleck, Norwood, Egan, Stevens, Baldock) along with the likes of Billy and Leon having an Indian summer.

We've now got a bunch of 30 plus players:

Wes
Davies
Basham
Egan
Stevens
Clark
Norwood
Fleck
Sharp

Some talented younger players:

Anel
RND
Bogle
Brewster
Ndiaye
Lowe
Jebbo

McAtee
Doyle

and the ones in their peak (McBurnie, Berge, Osborn, Robinson, Baldock) are injury prone.

Most teams that go up seem to hit the sweet spot between youth and downslope.

Due to Slaviša Jokanović's sacking, we won't be able to afford to replace Hecky until around the 25/26 season.

So, we are where we are.

Enjoy the ride.

For me the 5 year contract was more symbolic, to show we have faith in the manager and for stability, but if anyone thinks the Prince and Bettis have not put a good cheap exit clause in the clubs favour if we part waves then you must think the Prince and Bettis are clueless.

Hecky could not get a managers job and is why he dropped down to a U23s job, by sheer luck of being in the right place at the right time he got another chance, he would have signed pretty much any contract to once again get back into management, Prince/Bettis would know this and so would get away with a cheap exit clause if we do get rid at some point.

Let him carry on till the end of the season, then decide if we want to change the manager. No good changing this season with stop start situation. A new manager needs to get his players and a pre training getaway. I for one don’t want to see Hecky go, but if he has to, do it at the end of the season if they isn’t any improvement

If we got rid I'd give macca a go, knows the set up, players etc
I don't get the dyche love in at all, did u ever watch Burnley?

We were the better side and lost tonight.
These things happen in football.

Tantrums every time we don’t win are becoming very very boring.
We huffed and puffed better than Coventry last night but the bar wasn't particularly high, Coventry are the worst side I've seen this season.

That will be no good if we don't go up this season we are f@#ked.
Berge
Anel
Ndiaye
Egan
Baldock
And probably Jebbison will all be sold.
McBurnie probably wouldn't be offered a deal so will be off, wouldn't be totally shocked if somebody offered a cheeky bid for Brewster that he would be sold.
We will be left with offering 1 year extensions to Bash, and Sharp and a load of kids.

I don’t know if you know how important this season is to us, don’t go up this year we are fucked and back to the wilderness years.

The typical decade-long nomadic wander back to the Premier League has already begun. Let's see how long it actually takes.
I've loved the Blades since 1971. Gosh 52 seasons, yet only 12 seasons of top-flight football. An identical amount below the Championship.
Around 80% of the time outside the top flight.
That's being a Blade.
