Also, how can we have just under 20% of the SUFC fans who voted on here, who still want to keep him.... mind blowing. Do they like watching United look feckin useless, create nothing, and lose every game?

The poll has been up for a bit and many assume he would/will get the players he needs.

As said already not changing that midfield is the reason for him to walk today.

Because the poll has been open since August 23
Yep. I voted "no" at that time as it seemed an overreaction. Today's game is the one that's changed my mind. A manager with any hope of turning this around looks at that first half, realises how fortunate we are to be at 0-0 and makes changes at HT. The substitutions when they eventually came were all over the shop and just made us lose any shape we may originally have had. Oné at RWB ffs

If the new manager loses his first four league games should we sack him too?
Depends whether he shows any sign of tactical awareness and motivational ability. If Selles was showing either, I wouldn’t advocate sacking him.
4 of us watching the match all agreed before we kicked off that our midfield would be overrun… but our manager couldn’t see it… again.

The 19.1% who voted no probably still think Starmer and Labour will make Britain great again. If today's performance doesn't tell you all you need to know you have to be brain dead or on drugs, or both.
Feared the worst when I saw the midfield and it didn't take long to see it was the same shit as last week. Didn't manage a shot until after 40mins, defence all over the place. No movement pass sideways pass back hoof it lose the ball recycle, good job Boro were poor and Tanganga was a one man defence or it could have been 3 or 4 rather than a scrappy 1-0 to Boro. The new guys must be wondering what the phuck they have let themselves in for. One or two from last season will be on the phone to their agents to get them a quick move away from this shit show.

I originally thought Selles needed a few games with "his" players but now I don't think it's going to be that way. Just who is doing the buying and selling and what do they expect from him? He doesn't seem willing to change from the 4-3-3 formation but hasn't got the players to make it work. Something has to change - either new players who can play his way - or he gets the boot and it becomes somebody else's problem.

If we lose next 2, I dont see any other option. You can't lose all of your first 6 games (all comps) in a season where you are one of the favourites for promotion.

There's plenty of good free
Changing a few players in and out will not change results ,it takes the owners to admit a mistake and bring in an experienced manager .12 points behind is a big mountain to catch up over a season .

I love an unnecessary right wing jibe me.

As a bloke Selles comes across really well and a likeable guy, I feel sorry for him because his record prior to United was reasonable.

But its just not working out. I'd be worried though who the board would appoint as his successor if he leaves bearing in mind this board thought it wise to sack Wilder and replace him with an unproven manager. I'd be worried that they'd give it to another unproven manager like O'Neil or Carrick.

Feels wrong to call for his head so early, I normally reserve judgment until 10 games. Not sure he sees the other side of the international break.

The reality is, if we stick, even if he does turn it around, we'll be too far adrift.

However. Not Wilder. Not Dyche. Not even Cooper. I was excited by Sellés because I thought his appointment heralded a modernisation of the clubs inner workings. To steal a line from Roygbiv What appears to have happened is the board have sacked a manager and installed a coach, but that's it. We need to overhaul the entire management of the club and the 'one man doing it all' approach will not benefit us in the long run.

I can't beat to listen to Selles post match interview because I just feel sorry for the guy but he needs to go now too.

It's just going to get more toxic if he continues unless he can turn it round but can't see that.

Who also wouldn't be working with "his" players.

Feels like when I've tried to come up with a wierd and wonderful new system on Football Manager thinking that I can outsmart the game or the meta. Reality is, I realise it doesn't work, reload a previous save and then go back to a tried and trusted formation.

Unfortunately Selles cannot reload. Needs to go.

Just changed my vote from "No" to "Maybe/Unsure". It would have been embarrassing for us to have fired him when people first started suggesting it, but it's starting to get a bit embarrassing now anyway. There's plenty of examples of managers that have had a bad start, so I'm normally inclined to give them time. However, he's not really showing any signs of being able to turn it around so beginning to lean towards what is starting to look like an inevitability.

Consider myself level headed when it comes to United, not usually over optimistic or pessimistic.

I have repeatedly said he need ten matches to be judged whilst also stating how worrying it is that Selles has shown zero tactical flexibility while building a squad capable of playing 4-3-3.

Today’s my breaking point, the Bristol performance was the only one that had a silver lining due to small spells of attacking football. Since then it’s been appalling with nothing to build on, it’s scary just how poor we look. The players must be shell shocked right now and l struggle to see this turning round. If l was in charge I’d be pulling the trigger this evening.

Same here. After seeing the players have a huddle on the pitch near the end - well away from the bench, i do wonder what's going on

Yes - he has to go.
I’m a patient doood, but we show absolutely no sign of improving. The players clearly don’t know what the plan is, our “tactics” are woeful. We need to admit that we’ve made a mistake. Get Cooper in now so he can work with the players during the international break.
Currently, we have the feel of the Mickey Adams side that was allegedly too good to go down. We kept waiting for things to click - they never did! COH surely need to protect their investment and pull the trigger now.

I can see that selles would interview well in front of the owners especially as they have little if any knowledge of Championship football (that's a bit of a guess but there recruitment model seems to back that up!). I agree that normally you would expect to give a manager more than 4 games but even in the days of Robson weir and Slav we have never been so utterly useless and there is absolutely no sign that things are improving. Indeed they seem to be getting worse. Unfortunately we don't really have an experienced pro (like Billy) who has enough authority and gravitas to speak on behalf of the players and tell the owners Selles has completely lost the dressing room (an assumption by me but with plenty of evidence to back it up). The obvious person to do the job would be Robbo but he seems to have been side lined and I think he may have already said something. Let's hope owners get some good advice.

I have tried to give him time, the recruitment has been terrible which I don’t think rests on him but it’s time for him to go.

He’s naive, he’s stubborn, he’s tactically inept and he’s unable to analyse honestly what has happened over the 90 minutes.

The season is young there is time to turn this around let’s make the change immediately and copper is the outstanding option for me. Go get him COH show us something
