Strange....surely you can't make up the rules as you go along, after the event.
We were just late paying bills, the penalty at the time was an embargo, like other clubs had.

We were already punished for this...being given a transfer embargo.

True and the club say we were owed money ourselves at the time from several clubs.

So in effect we are being punished twice. We got an embargo, we paid what we owed and now are getting a 2 point deduction.
I'm all for proper punishment and we're getting it. The embargo is to prevent us making it worse, the points deduction is the actual punishment.

Unbelievable we are in this situation given what we've spent, owner is a dickhead.

United missed payments of...
(a) £1,000,000, £750,000 and £3,750,000 due to Club 1 under a permanent transferagreement for Player A - has to be Brewster
(b) EUR 2,000,000 due to Club 2 under a permanent transfer agreement for Player B - has to be Ahmedhodzic (half of €4m fee)
(c) £143,546.28 due to Club 3 in respect of the loan of Player C - probably Khadra, figure so exact that it must include penalty clauses
(d) £62,500 due to Club 4 in respect of the loan of Player D - Clark?
(e) EUR 900,000 due to Club 5 under a permanent transfer agreement for Player E - I assume that with the currency being Euros this can only be Berge

[United] submitted its Response to the Referral in which it accepted that it had failed to make various payments pursuant to transfer and loan agreements but... payments from its own investors were made late which it says led to unforeseen cash flow issues during the relevant period.

Love how other clubs appeal and we just deep throat the EFL's cock and swallow every last drop!!

"The club has co-operated with the EFL to reach the settlement"

That's not deep-throating anybody. That's admitting guilt and getting a 2point deduction. If we didn't co-operate, it would be significantly higher than 2pts you'd expect.
I also expect there will be no appeal from us.

That's fine give us an embargo and points deduction last season then.

Don't give us half of the punishment then and the other half over a year later.

Didn’t understand it was that widespread. Wowzer.

Could have been worse. 2 points is rather random to say we paid the debts and also went under a transfer embargo, but at least we won't be placed under another embargo in the summer. I don't think it's as bad as it sounds. It's poor from the board and it turns a win next season to a draw.

"(d) The 30 Day Rule and transfer embargo placed on the Club had been ineffective incircumstances where the Club had secured promotion to the Premier League."

This seems absolutely fucking insane logic. Oh we punished you for this but it didn't derail your season so we will do it again. How on earth can that be?

The whole sport is a shit show at the minute.

It’s alright complaining about the rules / interpretation of rules between prem and EFL but we shouldn’t be in the situation in the first place.

Just pay the fucking bills on time.

Loads and loads of clubs have had transfer embargos, they never got point deductions!

The ironic thing is that we have tried to keep a lid on our spending, for the good of the club.

Which has resulted in us being humiliated in our last two visits to the Premier League, skint, unable to pay for our players, under a transfer embargo and deducted points.

As we agreed to it there can't be an appeal. Also referred to in the last clause in the EFL document

We are in big trouble.
Not sure how this is connected to next season beyond the obvious implication of needing 2 points more than any other team at this stage. We were in the shit last season because we didn't sell anyone in the summer of 2022. Outside of the convoluted deal for Archer we broke even on our transfer dealings last summer and I'd be amazed if the selling clubs didn't demand the majority of the fees up front given our very recent history of defaulting on payments. Almost every one of our top 10 earners is out of contract at the end of the season.

It's been clear for years that the Prince lacks the ready funds (and, probably, the desire) to support us in the Championship beyond a year. We'll sell £40m of players in the summer and survive next season but once again, if we don't go up first time around the second season will not be fun.

Corrupt as fuck.

You’ve got clubs ruining the game. But no let’s fuck over the proper clubs wheeling and dealing to compete.

Wankers

The statement suggests we aren't competing though as we don't have a pot to piss in.
