See it's been lost on many that the image of Billy Sharp at Northampton, carried on the shoulders of Blades supporters, scarf held aloft was the result of the same action, and will surely go down as one of the most iconic in the clubs history.

Warning.....

Hyperbole alert!

Warning over

Why not turn the after match into a real event, let the away fans go, then bring out the champions and let everyone come on the pitch, perhaps let the players onto the top tier of the away end and present the trophy up there.

Set up a stage. Get def leopard up and a bit of Judas Priest, burger vans, bouncy castle, hair braiding and the lot

No face painting? :D

Clinching promotion is one thing. Running onto the pitch 2 games later is just a tad daft.

There was absolutely nothing spontaneous about that yesterday. It was just pathetic. I think the fact that there were more fans on the pitch at Northampton than there were yesterday proved it. What was there 95% less blades fans at that game? Add that to the fact that none of the players wanted to celebrate with the fans either yesterday suggests again that it was stupid.

Brighton players celebrated with their fans yesterday because they had just clinched promotion. Billy Sharp was on the shoulders of the fans at Northampton because we had just clinched promotion.

This is why I wanted Bolton to win on Saturday. If they had done, a pitch invasion yesterday would've been absolutely fine as we would've confirmed the title at the game.

Was it daft? Yeah it probably was. I certainly didn't join in.

But that's all it was. It doesn't warrant the overwrought moral outrage that some (not necessarily you) have spouted.

Just a slight over reaction by many on here. I will allow you to find a place in history which is similar and a bit awkward! ;)

We should do the pitch invasion like in the final scene from Escape To Victory...surrounding all the Blades players and gate-crashing them out of BDTBL.:)

After 6 years of hell I expected an out pour in the joy emotion, not a bunch of miserable old men. Let the kids have their fun, it's quite sad really. Let people have their five minutes, let them leave and carry on
Is that 5 minutes every game?

Does it carry over next season to celebrate being there?

No moral outrage from me. Bits of my hat are probably still in the place that was Filbert Street's pitch. Nor have I made reference to low-life scum etc. There's a time and a place for everything. Clinching promotion is a definite as at Leicester when I worra lad and Northampton for this generation. The football authorities will accept that as if they didn't they would have to sanction several clubs a season.

However, to then do it again at home, apparently just to say look what we can do, probably again at MK and then a fourth time when the club requests we don't is attracting a bit too much attention from those that wish us ill and also disrespecting the club. What next? Win a game - celebrate - get on the pitch?

It was pitch invasions that brought about the abomination that was fences and led to bans, and if you think the football authorities are going to sympathise with "we were only celebrating" (for the fourth time) when they want to stamp something out, think again.

Finally, yes I know in the context of the problems of this world "it's only a bit of grass", but that, as I'm sure you appreciate is not the point. It's as daft as Hitler saying, "well it's only a bit of Poland". The point is, it's someone else's grass and they don't want you to invade it for fairly obvious reasons. Those will include, the fear that the people not on the pitch won't be able to partake in the celebration of receiving the trophy, The fear that some idiot is going to think a pyro on the desso (great album title) is a good laugh, the fear that an opposition player or official may be injured, the fear that one of ours may be injured and more importantly (see pig sites for references) the Safety Action Group and others may impose costly sanctions.

I understand it all from both sides, I just take a balanced view that I don't want to harm the club or its achievements this year. They've worked too hard for it. If there is a pitch invasion then fair enough. I will be praying nobody is stupid.

Seriously? Yeah crime of the fucking century :(:rolleyes:

Typical attitude of the selfish part of society.
Is this "crime" in the same boat as pyrotechnics? Maybe we should all just run in the pitch when we feel like it. Or fire fireworks at opposition fans?
Teach your kids to respect the rules and laws of the land, not decide which ones to flounce when they feel like it. Then we might actually have a respectful and law abiding society in future, instead of the fucking mess we have now.

I know of a fella who has loads of convictions for burglary, drugs and violence. His attitude to shop theft and exact words were...."hardly crime of the century" . Says it all.

Very well put.
And we have more than our fair share of complete fuckwits to cause trouble. Pricks in Burberry scarves, knocked off "stone island" and now coming to the fore...Canada goose jackets that their fucking benefits can't afford so they have nicked em!
Despise the lot of em. Scum of society.

No but does the first home game after promotion or the final game of the best season in living memory really need this old mans reaction from everyone. Let the kids enjoy it

Anyone goading the away fans or causing trouble should be banned but they shouldn't be allowed to ruin it for everyone else who wants to go on

Oh well, sod the the law, sod all those people that want to enjoy a presentation from the stands, we don't want little irrelevances like that to spoil it for the kids.

I want to watch the team parade their hard won cup in front of us. It's hardly something we see every season. I don't particularly want to wait while the invaders make the decision that the rest of us can get on with what we came for. It's disrespectful to the team, to Tufty, and as someone else rightly pointed out to the opposition.

The Chesterfield players no doubt want to thank their fans for turning out to watch a team that has already been relegated - but hey, fuck them, because we're Blades and we do what we want.

Look....the genuine moment has passed.
Those fortunate to be at Northampton....Leicester, Darlington have had those moments. They have gone.

Three weeks later when it's all done and dusted is just criminality for the sake of it. No other description needed. Of 30k fans, only a few hundred selfish idiots will have decided they are going onto the pitch after Chezzy. It's pre meditated and I would back the club and the police wholeheartedly in charging and banning those fans who blatantly and unnecessarily enter the field of play.
I would also question the parenting of those encouraging those under the age of criminal responsibility to do so to the point of ensuring that their family situation is followed up by the relevant authorities.

So, instead of just doing it for the sake of it.....why not wait and make sure you are there for the next occasion where such a pitch invasion could be considered justified. It could be next season....the season after. It might be a cup semi....or perhaps another promotion.....maybe just an exciting comeback to beat our closest rivals in injury time.
But you have to be there first and foremost.....so back the team, back the club, back the manager. And make sure you have enough loyalty points to be at the front of the queue when one of those possibilities arise.

Fans ran onto the pitch.
the announcer asked them leave.
they left.

Well, thats my Haiku done for the day :)

My kids enjoyed it where they were without being encouraged to run onto the pitch....as did a lot of the kids surrounding me. They have had the same shit to put up with as everyone else and can't even remember the last promotion, just relegation and league one!....so are they under reacting?
Plenty of ways to thank their heros....get there early to meet them....let em get to the front so players can approach them and high five them or whatever.

I hated the arrogant Man United cunts who used to sing the 'we'll do what we want' chant years ago.

It hasn't got any better.

Do what we want seems to mean breaking air conditioning units and chucking smoke bombs these days, compared to jibbing and infiltrating home stands all those years ago.

Yep it's people like me whose fault it is society is fucked  and as for your other post banning orders and authority involvement for celebrating with my kids nice one top blade o_O

I don't even want to run on the pitch against Chesterfield. I think it would be a bit silly.

But after reading the continued nauseating pontificating on here, I feel that I'm duty-bound to do so, purely as a protest against the sanctimonious cuntitude I've witnessed on here.
Yes join the party were up to 357 now could be well above 400 if we can count non attending season ticket holders :)

On with you pal, I am only arguing for the kids which some of these twats want to call cunts.
