Yes v Sunderland as I mentioned in the 1-0 wins thread. Also scored at Spurs in the 2-1 defeat in the League Cup in Oct 1970. Freaky goal in the 2-1 defeat at Norwich in Feb 74. Scored a few in 1968-69 season when he was playing in midfield. Started playing at LB after we dropped Mick Heaton for the 4-0 win against Blackburn in Nov 1969
 
Since Leaving Jordan Slew has failed to score in 39 league matches. He scored 3 in 11 for us.

Since leaving Lee Williamson has failed to score in 60 league matches. He scored 19 in 76 for us.

Remember that cup game, was a bullet header after we had battered them, the year we got to the Newcastle semi I think? Also if memory serves Salvatore Bibbo was the Reading 'keeper that night and had a cracking game against his old club.

That's right, I remember seeing it in the list of milestones after Murphy scored his.
 
I'm pretty sure i saw Mark Patterson score for us in a 1-0 away win at Reading at Elm Park in the late 90's, a night match if my memory serves me well.

He did in 1997-8. It was a 1-0 win, our first away win for nearly 12 months.

As others have said he scored in both his first 2 appearances in 1995-6, against Stoke and Birmingham. The Birmingham goal was the header from a long way out.

The latter was Raulito's debut. Come autumn, he will be a member of our Armed Forces. Feck I feel old.
 
Dries Bousatta. I think he only made one appearance, coming on as a sub and being took off again.

Barry Hayles?
Danny Cullipp?
 
Cullip scored against Villa in the Cup. He also scored a perfectly good goal at Arsenal in the 5th round which was disallowed for no reason.

Hayles never scored before he was dumped after 4 games, and replaced with noted goal machine Ashley Ward.

There is also the now annual tradition of signing a loan striker from a higher division who plays a dozen or so games and fails to score:

2012: O'Halloran
2013: Poleon
2014: Paynter

Who will it be next year? My money's on Billy Sharp.
 
Nick Henry, Chris Short, Jon Newby, Simon Francis, Mark Rankine are a few more.

Interesting looking back at squad lists season-by-season, there were some players still at the club that I'd have put down as having left 2 seasons before. Andy Scott and Mark Beard for example I'd never have said were still there when Spackman was manager.

Also, Lilian Nalis. Seems bizarre to think he started the season we finished 2nd - disappeared Hayles-style after a handful of games.

It wasn't. The Reading game was on 4/11/97. Our last away win was our last away game but one at Middlesbrough on 5/10/97.

What the Reading win actually was was our last league away win until we won 2-0 at Oxford on 24/10/98, almost a year later (though we did win 2-1 at Bury in the cup on 13/1/98)

Was that the Oxford game where Deano tripped himself up in the box then ran straight to the ref demanding a pen, who shat himself and pointed to the spot out of fear. Think he missed the pen too, but we got another one a few mins later when the one and only Bobby Ford handled on the line for Oxford. Jan Age scored that one.

No, the one you are thinking of was on 20/9/97. We won 4-2. The one I was referring to was on 24/10/98. Saunders and Kachuro scored.

Ah yes that's right, it was the start, not the end, of the run.

The Oxford game was the wettest I have ever been at a game. The pitch had puddles all over it and of course it was an open terrace. Worth it to see the win though.

My dad and I noticed at the time that Ullathorne hadn't scored (maybe he was the only outfield player in the team/squad who hadn't), so we nicknamed him Hattrick Rob. The 'Hattrick' title has often been passed along if anyone else is worthy of it, so from this thread it seems it should be Hattrick Steve McGinn at the moment!
