Players who never scored but did in a shoot-out is a good sub category. Any advance on:
Matt Hill
John Pemberton
Roger Nilsen?
Michael O'Halloran.

He also scored a pen at Wembley. Of them all I thought he'd definitely miss ! Not classed as a proper goal though.Michael O'Halloran.
Yes v Sunderland as I mentioned in the 1-0 wins thread. Also scored at Spurs in the 2-1 defeat in the League Cup in Oct 1970. Freaky goal in the 2-1 defeat at Norwich in Feb 74. Scored a few in 1968-69 season when he was playing in midfield. Started playing at LB after we dropped Mick Heaton for the 4-0 win against Blackburn in Nov 1969Seem to remember Ted Hemsley scoring a penalty or two, but from open play? Anyone?
Didnt play for us at WembleyMichael O'Halloran.
Didnt play for us at Wembley
Just checked our team at Wembley. Yes, O'Halloran played and scored one of the penalties! Sorry! What do you mean?
He scored a few:
7/9/96 Oldham (A)
13/2/98 Reading (h) - last minute winner in the cup
23/11/99 Port Vale (h) the notorious game
25/11/00 Bolton (H)
There may be 1 or 2 others
Mark Patterson?
I'm sure Nilsen scored in a pen shoot out against Coventry in the FA cup. This one surprised me ... Roger Nilsen, appearances 190, goals 0. Fine player though
I think Patterson also scored a milestone goal for us against Reading or was it Bury in a 1-0 win? Something like Murphy's recent landmark goal.Mark Patterson?

Out of our current players Stephen McGinn has the most appearances without scoring, 36 in all competitions.

5 minutes 25 seconds, that number 3 looks suspiciously like Roger. Left footed, blond hair, Norweigan looking
What a night !

I'm pretty sure i saw Mark Patterson score for us in a 1-0 away win at Reading at Elm Park in the late 90's, a night match if my memory serves me well.
The latter was Raulito's debut. Come autumn, he will be a member of our Armed Forces. Feck I feel old.He scored a few:
7/9/96 Oldham (A)
13/2/98 Reading (h) - last minute winner in the cup

He did in 1997-8. It was a 1-0 win, our first away win for nearly 12 months.
As others have said he scored in both his first 2 appearances in 1995-6, against Stoke and Birmingham. The Birmingham goal was the header from a long way out.
.
What the Reading win actually was was our last league away win until we won 2-0 at Oxford on 24/10/98, almost a year later (though we did win 2-1 at Bury in the cup on 13/1/98)
Was that the Oxford game where Deano tripped himself up in the box then ran straight to the ref demanding a pen, who shat himself and pointed to the spot out of fear. Think he missed the pen too, but we got another one a few mins later when the one and only Bobby Ford handled on the line for Oxford. Jan Age scored that one.
It wasn't. The Reading game was on 4/11/97. Our last away win was our last away game but one at Middlesbrough on 5/10/97.

My dad and I noticed at the time that Ullathorne hadn't scored (maybe he was the only outfield player in the team/squad who hadn't), so we nicknamed him Hattrick Rob. The 'Hattrick' title has often been passed along if anyone else is worthy of it, so from this thread it seems it should be Hattrick Steve McGinn at the moment!Ullathorne got none in 3 seasons for us, but don't think he got more than 50 games in that time if that.
