We played well enough for the squad we have at the moment, but we will need to improve when we get promoted...

We will improve and make signings and remember playing against the likes of Bournemouth, Palace, Burnley, the play off winners, Fulham, and whoever finishes 17th-15th is an entire different matter to playing City.

Yeah but we often seem to struggle against such sides. IMHO our biggest problem is creating and scoring goals. Was last time we were in the Prem and will be again. Keeping Ndaye, Berger, and getting Doyle and McAtee is a must but where is the money coming from?

I actually thought we were really good first half, well organised and we even managed to create a few decent chances. It's just a shame one moment of stupidity (then another) undid all that good work.

It's clear we need to add more quality in a few key areas if we are to compete, but if we recruit wisely I honestly think we'll do alright next season. Hopefully the ownership situation gets sorted soon and we get the investment the squad needs. UTB

We've been excellent at parking the bus this season.
The weakness for the defence is being caught on the counter due to the lack of pace.
So as long as we sit back, knew that Man City would find it tough.

We actually had the odd decent attack in the 1st half, tactics looked to be working well.
The Jebbison makes an amateur mistake and gives away a penalty.

At 1-0 down the game was almost over.
We have no choice but to go for it more

Lowe makes a terrible mistake passing to their man, but the way he tried to correct his mistake was pathetic.
Their player has the ball, Lowe is jogging behind him making no attempt to win the ball back, shows he has a really weak mentality.
and when it became 2-0 the game was over.

Man City took the foot off the pedal and it became a very easy and comfortable 3-0.
For us it was a case of what might have been.
Don't think Man City were that good but we gifted then the first 2 goals.

I thought plenty to be positive about today.

We've got some quality players, one or two good youngsters, but just need to be a bit "harsh" with the old guard of Fleck, Sharp and Basham.

Despite them being fantastic servants it's time to move them on.

One wish for the top flight, assuming we get there, more pace and athleticism.

3-0 flattered them. Two big mistakes from players I don't imagine will be starters next year. Actually more positive about next season.

Our left hand side has been our weak link all season, Max Lowe I was expecting a lot after his season at forest last year, he's been absolutely crap, trouble is we don't have a replacement.

I'd have taken 3-0 beforehand but disappointing to gift them the first two goals after holding them for that long.

Midfield nowhere near good enough for the PL but actually did better today than I expected. Lowe not good enough.

It's one thing defending space and holding out but we need so much more if we're to win games in the PL.

That will be RND next season.
He was arguably our best player before his injury, but that was playing left hand side of a back three, I think we need to recruit a left wing back next season because I don't really see anyone, other than RND possibly being good enough, Enda and Lowe are our two natural left wing backs and neither are close to being good enough, even if we don't go up.

Spot on 👍

Yep, Ndiaye, Berge, Ahmedzodzic in particular are quality and are the players we should be looking to build the team around imo.
Baldock's resurgence is a welcome one, him along with Egan I believe are dependable enough to still do a job at Prem level as well.
We just need to fill in the rest of the gaps now.

A proven goal scorer is a must. Obviously with the current financial situation and ownership uncertainty we don't know what funds will be available in the summer. Ideally I would be looking at someone like Gyokeres, but if he is out of our price range I think we'd be better off looking abroad this time.

As for the rest, Lowe isn't good enough. RND despite his good form prior to his injury still has a question mark over his head for me so that may be an area we should be looking at. I love Jack Robinson's industry and commitment, but the defending for that goal today was absolutely comical so I would like an upgrade on him.

Midfield needs an overhaul imo. I'd still be tempted to maybe get Doyle and McAtee back in on loan if that's possible, but preferably I'd like us to focus on adding a bit more physicality in that area of the pitch.

Wes has been great for us and maybe deserves his chance in the prem. I'd still like us to get someone like Sam Johnstone in though to push him as I've heard he's available.

I’d use RND as LWB & finally replace JOC at LCB as a first choice.

When we are at BDTBL parking the bus with a home support is alot easier or even the away games at the smaller grounds. But Wembley's big pitch and atmosphere make it hard, fought well but City spending £60million plus on Mahrez and other talents they have quality was going to win the day eventually. In a way glad we didn't get butchered like Burnley but also would have been gutted to lose 1-0 by that penalty or another mistake

This RND love in, some of you want to watch how he plays, too much like Norwood diving in and commiting fouls around the box which will get punished in the Prem week in week out.As for Lowe, look who was up against .? A bad mistake for the second but both JLT and Egan were covering and neither made a challenge and let him run for 30 yards.
We need 5 players minimum, none for the future like Warnock and Wilder did.Everyone coming in needs to be a first teamer.Accept that we will probably get relagated but, with the right recurtment we may have a chance of staying up, if not certainly we'd come straight up from the Champ.
Proud of them today and UTB

Nailed

Berge showed quality on a few occasions when he ran at them and got crosses in. Both he and Baldock did work well together when defending against Grealish. Looking at the entire team what stood out was poor first touches and a lack of ability to pass accurately under pressure.

There was plenty of effort given even though their was a big gulf in class. The transfer window will be interesting with out of contracts and some with only a year left. Due to the financial issues and the results of our big money spend previously I wouldn't expect too many additions.

IMHO I would like to see an emphasis on buying younger players without spending more than £10M on anyone. The worry is that anyone I have spoken to reckons Mr Mitchell is not able to recognise talent.

It's how deep are our pockets next season and can at least 2 maybe 3 of the needed "5" be on loan. If so then it is a possibility for first team investment. Unless a takeover happens within the next month we won't have time for proper permanent contract signing investments unless we are already looking abroad. Realistically Championship/English players are too expensive for their value unless on loan, we need to be looking in the European markets for quality, look at Anel at a reported £4million looks a bargain. If that was an English player you could be looking at an extra £5-10million

Yeah that’s the dream isn’t, rare opportunity to do something in a big match and we play ok.
11 big matches at Wembley, old Trafford and the millennium stadium and lost every single one.

Nothing to lose today and they play ‘ok’,
Bangin stuff

To be fair mate, they had AK47s and we had spud guns. They buy the best players and the best manager, quality will out.

Lots to be encouraged about today.

Man City are arguably the best club side on the planet at this moment in time, and stronger than a lot of international teams.

We competed really well today and our set up was good. With some additions, a PL goalkeeper, strength in the middle and some genuine pace up top, we might have enough to stay up. We won't be playing Man City every week.

I'm a lot more hopeful today about next season than I was before.

I thought our support was superb today too. We've been quiet at previous trips to Wembley IMO, but I thought the support was great today (coked up knobheads an exception).
