I'm more confident now that we'll make the Play Offs than I was before the Yeovil game. Rochdale's defeat means that they have one less game in which to catch us. Now, we can seal it mathematically on Saturday if we win and Rochdale fail to do so. We may not even need another win in our league remaining games.
Looking at the League table, it may even go down to the wire for the second auto place. Preston are best-placed but if they slip, Swindon and MK Dons are both waiting to pounce. The fact that it's tightening at the top could work in our favour. None of those teams can afford to rest players yet.
Presuming we make the play offs, we know for certain that we'll he at home in the first leg on May 7 against MK, Preston or Swindon, with the second leg away on May 11th. Whether we finish 5th or 6th, we'll play a disappointed team that has missed out on automatic. How much of a myth it is that such teams don't win Play Offs, I'm not sure.
Yes, we played shit against Yeovil, just as we did against Crewe, Fleetwood, Peterborough, Gillingham etc etc. But we've shown before that in big games - Spurs x 2, QPR, Bristol City, West Ham, QPR, and most recently Barnsley, we can turn it on, and match and better our opponents. There's no reason why we can't do that in the Play Offs too
Preston 42 35 82
MK Dons 42 44 79
Swindon 41 23 76
Sheff Utd 43 13 68
