and the result against top of the table Leeds and bottom of the table Yeovil is related how?

Fwiw, if we line up in the play offs
GK
RB
CB
CB
LB
RM
CM
CM
LM
CM in the hole or CF
CF

then I think we'll be OK.

If we line up (as last night)
GK
RB (really RM)
CB (best RB in division)
CB (CM probably)
LB (really RB)
RM (not sure best pos but not RM that's for sure)
CM
CM
CM
LM (CF)
CF

then I think we're fucked. Over 50% square pegs isn't going to cut it. We've seen it so many times this season I'm not confident it won't happen again.

You indeed make a great point, and something some of us have been banging on about for a lot of the season.

Considering we have NO proper centre halves, then we have to minimise the problem of teams actually GETTING to our centre halves and although I never like putting a team down before a game, I will offer up this:

GK: Howard

RB: Brayford
LB Harris
CB
CB

2 central deep sitting midfield of Coutts and Doyle.

A diamond of:
Basham sat just in front and allowed to break forward.
Murphy left
Done right
Davies up top.

No Holt, baxter, Scoogs, reed - just too small, too soft. Bit unjust on holt who scores a few, but seems to drift in and out of games.

Now, for me this is the same as Bristol Away, is similar to Rochdale away and not far off Barnsley.

It offers strength in the middle which is the crux of the problem to me, with 3 players up top all capable of winning any game.

The problem is centre backs - injury permitting, McE as one and Kennedy as the other. If injured then it is a tough call who to play there.

We MUST make ourselves hard to beat - pack the midfield with strength and protect the defence.

Even the best teams have days like that

It's not like the result and performance last night was a one off, was it?

You can dress it up how you want, but the facts are that we lost 1 nil and got a solitary shot on target against a very poor side. Furthermore this was a game where we could have almost guaranteed our play off position, but we didn't. Chalking it up to an 'off day' is bollocks when we've had about 15-20 of them this season.

Agreed, we need Basham making runs up to the box, with Davies already in there (strength and height), and Murphy and Done steaming in from the wings with pace.

Terry Kennedy made a blunder against Poleon at Oldham, but apart from that, he has been solid all season and I don't think we have lost when he has played.
It has to be Kennedy and McEveley at the centre

Why is it bollocks
we were 2nd in the league one form table

its not a one off ,,,, well yes it was, it was the first away loss in 2 months

The good news is, we will be playing top 6 opposition if we reach the play-offs not bottom 6. Our record since xmas has been pretty good. They clearly seem more able to raise there game for one off matches against decent opposition. O k clutching at straws it is.

cant put football clubs in blackpools bracket , theyve been run like a circus ,
oh yes we did
Leicester had pride

so your saying we are through, we lost a game, get over it , so did rochdale and bradford got slaughtered but you can see them overtake us

some supporter you are

Fuck me, talk about making it up as you go along.

So Blackpool don't count because they don't fit your criteria. OK, your choice but bollocks none the less.
No we fucking didn't. We got relegated at Spurs and the last 6 matches went:
Norwich 1 - 3 Sheff Utd
Sheff Utd 3 - 2 West Ham
Leeds 0 - 1 Sheff Utd
Middlesbro 3 - 0 Sheff Utd
Sheff Utd 1 - 0 Newcastle
Sheff Utd 1 - 1 Birmingham

Take note of that game at Ayresome Park. 3-0 still counts as a defeat even in '76. I was there, got a slap for my troubles so kind of remember it.
Wouldn't know about Leicester, you can have that if you really want,

Where am I saying we're through? No, keep looking you won't find it.
I was "over it" by 10pm. If I'd gone I wouldn't have been though!
I think Rochdale or Bradford will overtake us? Go on then, show me. Not said it.

I've been on here defending Clough for weeks, still will, what I won't do is bury my head in the sand if we play badly, can't see the point in that sort of attitude. Just makes you look a bit daft really.

He has a load of square faced pegs just to the side of it some post marked Derby and some postmarked from North of the border and Andy Garner has a small rubber mallet (allegedly)

close enough a team relegated winning 4 of 6 splitting hairs
1 defeat , that you see as important you miss the jist it was a turn around after getting relegated

yes we lost at yeovil , so what , so long as we dont follow it up with another , all teams lose out of the blue occasionally , this was one we didnt see coming, maybe we might win a play off final most dont see coming , footballs like that
