Planning permission for the south stand

I park in the Cherry Street car park during the week, and received a letter today as follows:

Boundary Corner Development

The Boundary Corner Development is planned development of 45 flats to be constructed on the site currently used as a compound/overflow car park within the main Cherry Street Car Park.

It is anticipated that work will start in the spring of 2018, once this commences the area will no longer be available for use as a car park.

Could we therefore ask that upon commencement of work you park in the main Cherry Street Car Park, should a space not be available there then please use the Shoreham Street Car Park.

--------

I hope we have planning permission :)

You're not reducing income by building the South stand first, the capacity will be 38k. I can't really see "spades in the ground" on both sites at the same time. Demand will force the issue with the Kop.

Establishment costs are a hefty part of any construction project. It makes no sense to demobilise after building one stand only to pay the same again a year or two later to re-establish the same. If the stands aren't built concurrently they will certainly be built consecutively. If the kop is built at the same time or immediately after the SS it's establishment costs will be "sunk" and the cost effectiveness of the build will be optimised. McCabe's not daft enough to do things differently as it will cost him a couple of million at least.

For all this talk of McCabe not being daft, was he behind the Kop corner? And Captain Marvel?

The kop corner will sort itself out when the pillar that obstructs half the seats is removed. There will also be exec boxes at the back of it to enhance its appeal. On the second part of your comment, his football acumen has never been one of his strong points, whereas property development is.

Not clued up on this, but could they be planning on getting the approval for the new stand just so the people moving into the flats at the back of the car park, can’t then complain about any new plans submitted after?

Their solicitor should do a search so they'd be aware anyway I'd have thought.

I noticed last Saturday that the "corner" has been fenced off now and was totally empty of cars and game transmitting lorries.

Could be that something is going to happen in there soon, like what is mentioned in the plans two years ago.

I noticed that the Boundary Corner is all fenced off with “Scarborough Group” all over it. At a guess, they won’t be delivering this...

Wasn’t that owned by a previous director? Have they bought it off him?

Been like that since last season. Nothings started and now McCabes gone nothing will start, Prince will want his own plans drawn up

I suspected it might have been, it’s only as I happened to stop by it that I noticed the labelling for the first time. It’ll be interesting to see if this sort of space might be used for something different to a club shop and student flats – we only have these plans as any plan for that land, other than the previous casino plan, so what could it be used for?

Do the Boundary Corner plans pre-date Abdullah? Or were they lodged/approved after his arrival?

"Game transmitting lorries?" Is this the new "Pheasant Balti pie" that we're experimenting with?

McCabe's not "gone" though has he, technically? He's going to hang around the place like a ghost for the next couple of years, until he is finally "exorcised" of having any claim on the place. Until then, I can't really see much happening in terms of ground development, because I think it would represent a risk for either party.

Whether the Prince has different ideas about what should go on the boundary corner or not we don't know. But we must assume at some point he's been privy to such plans and has not objected to them. It's about "revenue generation" for the club isn't it? That's the main reason they are doing it - so as long as the scheme meets that aim then it will probably go ahead - but maybe not yet?

I can't see the Prince objecting to it in principle - although he might want to change the aesthetics to something a bit more "domey" and "turrety" - you never know?
