For me that would be rather than one team lose 'home' advantage, you have a double header, effectively a Saturday / Tuesday back to back games against the same team. If it was done in winter, along with the winter break, it could be marketed accordingly as the come back games, chance for clubs to get some warm weather training and R&R in (it would have to be global rather than just the US for this) and would give some supporters the chance to go.

By having a back to back against the same team no one loses advantage, the game reaches new audiences, brings in more revenue etc etc, clubs get the chance to get away min Jan or Feb and recharge and train etc etc.

I think its just a matter of time in all honesty. I agree re protecting the domestic game, but I think that'll be more about the PL protecting the PL as a european super league that was mooted would kill off the PL as we know it, as the top clubs would have a ESL squad and a PL squad.

This is a very sensible idea. Which is exactly why the PL will not go for it.
 



What if Kev wins the court case and flogs us to Dem Yanks and they move us to Salt Lake City and play there? The Sheffield Blades is actually a cool nickname which would market well over there and they could fund it by selling the Lane to build flats or a big yellow storage place or a Chinese airport and if we’re lucky, they’ll send Sheffield United over to play 2 games a season at Wembley against Watford (on Boxing Day at 3am) and probably Aston Villa. Although you’ll need 150,000 loyalty points to get a ticket. We can listen to Andy Giddings and Keith Edwards live from Miami, or watch a cheeky NBC stream off that bloke off Twitter.

Or what if Abdullah wins and merges us with the Las Vegas 69ers or whoever that team he supports is? He could re-hire Blackwell and become a specialist hoof it over the goalposts team and dominate the NFLMSLWTF Mid-SouthNorthWest Division.
 
It'll happen eventually and if it give us exposure to a bigger audience and more $$$ then what's not to like? It's a business at the end of the day.
 
Just give them an extra round of premier League fixtures at the end of the season with no points up for grab. Make it a glorified friendly

If we get selected to play in an overseas league game, I hope McCabe/Prince gladly tell them to fuck right off and go back to watching a version of "football" in which the players wear pads and ridiculously homoerotic leggings, where there are 5000 ad breaks a game and where the ball is HANDLED 95 percent of the time.
 
That would be the day I stopped following the Blades and lost all interest in football
 
I think the americans would be more disappointed than us if we turned up, can you imagine they are there looking forward to the big games featuring the big 6 or Merseyside derby. what they get instead is sheff utd v burnley 😁 that games hardly sexy in Sheffield on 2nd November never mind in boston, LA or New York

it would be like NFL international series having Kansas city chiefs v Cleveland browns at wembley instead of New England Patriots v San Francisco 49's

I don't give a shit about exposure to bigger audiences. I give a shit about going to support my team play, I don't give a shit if Johnny American in Forth Worth Texas get to see it instead.

I never said FA Cup.For me that is a sacred competition and is quintessentially British... Although the magic may have faded slightly, I'd hate the idea of taking the FA cup elsewhere.

However.... The Energy Drink Cup on the other hand... I'd be more willing to listen to proposals on that...

Let's face it, when a competition is more of a friendly than a competition you have to look at changing it... and if that means making it more lucrative and giving more of a carrot to teams to compete for, then i am all for that idea... whatever that may be.

More likely to see a big FA cup Round three or Four game moved imo.

You’re not understanding, they don’t care who watches United as long as people watch. If people are watching us it’s more money for the PL and every team in the PL. If the US can sell out PL games and the same game(s) over here can’t then they’ll go where the tickets sell.
