This part plastic pitch is looking a bit tired! How long do they last ?
Skinned every summer for a new surface ! Very thin in places just now.
A lot of prem pitches look immaculate even in march ! Anyone know the style of pitch used.
Technology must have moved on from what we have.It was supposed to be the best when we installed it ! Obviously outdated now.

It doesn't help that the put loads of water in it both before the game and at halftime

The water does help, without the seemingly excessive amount of water put onto it it would be rock hard, slow & even unplayable. There's a certain amount of water that needs to be put into them which is why you often see it being watered even when it's raining.

The pitch a drainage system so water logging and downing the roots doesn’t happen.

Desso’s have to be watered heavily or they dry out. It’s one of the issues with the Desso at the Sty, they can’t water it as they should cos the water table is so high cos of the Don running past the ground the drainage can’t cope.

Ahem, Patnicks Desso……..

Wait till you see the farmers field we'll be playing on Sunday.

Harsh on farmer's fields.

A dump like the rest of their ground, the most nutrients that their pitch has had was probably from the United fan who shat on their centre circle a few years back.

Had a look at some old photos and it’s fookin massive compared to last season.

Is it though? Some of the grass/turf seems to have been removed from the edges so it looks like the pitch is now using the full extent compared to earlier. That's clear at least at the end in front of the away end, but not quite so clear in front of the John Street stand.

Grassed area looks almost identical if you lined it up with gangways and access gates.

Looks like they’ve made changes to the hard standing area but this might just be for access while working on the pitch?

This is a wind up right? This photo is from pre 2019 beofre the television studio was in the Kop south stand corner
