Staton has been waxing lyrical about us recently and in the games he has commentated has heaped praise on the standard of the football we play.

I don't really care if he supports Wednesday or gushes over them from time to time. He still does a really good and professional job imo.

Plus we have had Bennet and Walker in the past who are Blades, but they always tried to be balanced as well.

We are lucky to have the FH team. Not many areas have the same standard of coverage.

Just never criticise him, he doesn’t even take the softest of criticism very well.

Yeah not a fan really. I think the team overall are good but there have been many incidences over the years where he has portrayed a very condescending attitude to some callers. Admittedly some might say they’ve asked for it but in his position that hasn’t sat well with me. However I don’t intend to go to war with the whole forum over it so from now on if I will keep my opinion to myself.

Agree he has been condescending and trying to feel superior in the past.
Staton is quite abrasive and seem to like an argument, he doesn't suffer fools and challenges callers comments if he disagrees with them.

Personally I prefer that style when he plays devils advocate, if a caller has a valid point then it makes the show more interesting if they challenged.
 
Andy giddiness does commentary for premier league games and interviews managers

I retune the radio if I hear Staton pontificating. He’s far too much “Me, myself and I” for my liking.
I saw plenty of tweets from QPR fans laughing at him after he was still crying about their equalizer days after. 🤣

This, absolutely. Football supporters in the region are really fortunate to have such a consistently brilliant team covering the matches. Around the main channels, other regions and with some club commentators there are many many much worse. On that note, I never thought I would be more irritated by a co-commentator than Andy Hinchcliffe but Robert Earnshaw surpassed him with flying colours yesterday, really awful. When he questioned if Cooper was at fault for their lucky 2nd, he went straight off. Would have been sooner but the audio feed on the SUFC site wasn’t working when I tried first half.

One final thing on Staton, I have complimented him a couple of times on his commentary and he has always replied.
 

I think most points have already been covered but aye, although I can't remember when I last listened it's a great effort that we have a nightly football show when the likes of Manchester and Liverpool don't.

Can I take it a bit further and say if he's a pig, that's probably better isn't it than being a Forest Green Rovers, Exeter or Man U fan? A local lad who cares and has knowledge.

And if you think about it, what with living in Sheffield, there's quite a few of them about in our work, friends and families aren't there? So er, giyoor.
 
I like him. I just don’t like whoever it is that uses a raised inflection all the time (might be Giddings or Oxley). On the whole though I think they’re all good lads and good at what they do.
