You'd probably prefer post war British pies VB as they were generally potato and cabbage ( okay, with lard) than the abbatoir scrapings on offer at BL these days. If you ate animal products that is.

Poor quality food is expensive at grounds. Expecting quality would cost you more than Tom Kitchins vegetarian tasting menu. Or the first three courses anyway.

The thought of a good potato and cabbage pie with mushy peas and several dashings of hendersons relish tickles the taste buds! Don't think they even serve that at the ground either!

But you're right, it's either put up and shut up or fine-dining extremism like the infamous £12 fish and chips at Wembley. A sensible middle ground is all we ask.

'SUFC Soul Food'...oh the joys of optimism.

My eldest - in his chip rating scale has Wembley at the very bottom with the worst tasting chips he's ever had anywhere ever - so automatic promotion please no play off / terrible chip shenanigans

Fkin pies are either cold or reheated until the crust is like cast iron or so hot you could throw them at opposition fans who would think someone had just dropped napalm on them. If you do manage to get one that a pig wouldn't turn it's nose up at then you can play the game of find the meat as the filling has all the consistency of lumpy gravy or Diarrhoea.

They sell pies at BDTBL!!???
Never seen one myself, just empty hot boxes at the snap cabins!!!???

If they're really that shit then how come there's never any left?
Which taste-bud devoid numpties are buying them? ;)

Billyblade - proud to say he doesn't use the concession stands because he prefers value for money and can go for 4 hours without food.

I used to enjoy the balti pies when they first started doing them at the Lane. Admittedly that was usually after one two many Stella's pregame but still.

Yeah the Balti pies of ten year ago were ok plenty of meat in them and they didn't taste bad either, there was an art to eating one though at that time there was no plastic forks so you had to be careful and eat it something like a dog licking it's bowl for remnants of PAL otherwise the bottom could drop out leaving you covered in curry.

The fact that you had the opportunity to give your pie blog one of these names and didn't makes me not trust you.

I mean, Pie-rate would be bloody gold for a a blog that rates frigging pies!

Strangest pies in the Football League--those odd-shaped, homemade things at Carlisle.

Pie of the season, this year at least, goes to Chesterfield.

Worst pie ever, and the only one I've not been able to finish in a football ground, was at Bolton in 2006/7. (Shudders at memory).

Most overrated / undeserved pie reputation .... the butter pie thing namechecked above by others (Preston ?).

Best pie-themed half-time entertainment ..... Burnley's 15 foot cardboard pie with a hole cut in the middle, thro which 8 year old kids were invited to chip footballs from 20 yards (2007/8 ?). Ingenious pie faire.

Have to say that the pie "experience" has redeemed many an afternoon of rubbish football, and poor results, for us at BadBuy Towers. Always look forward to an Away Pie :)

I sometimes wonder why they can't sell a range of pleasant food, instead of 3 kinds of nasty pie and a kit kat?
Why not try and make money by selling things that people would like to eat?

But usually I have eaten my lunch long before 3pm, so I usually don't give it another thought.
You're welcome.

My mission is to blog about pies at every Football Club in the UK, and would be grateful for feedback on the pies on offer at Sheffield United to use in future posts.

I hope your research will have at least an appendix on Pie Ethics and Risk Assessment ?

Historic Pie Risk Assessment, Example A: several years ago, when BadBuy Jr was very little (5 or 6), he flat-out refused to wear his lovely new trainers to the match "in case I get pie on them".

Well I hope you're satisfied with the mayhem you have wreaked on this forum, I don't imagine you've got any usable info yet though.

I have seldom seen a more succinct summing up of things I hate about modern football as that paragraph

Equally it very succinctly sums up the pointless waste of time that modern university courses are! At least she will leave with an expertise in Pies as well as a massive debt.

And just to confirm Pukka awful, Peters were quite good.
