From a postive side I infer: Lets get the new blood in January safe in the knowledge the dead wood is going soon.
From a negative: We're still paying the dead wood wages til Summer, no chance we can stump up for new blood until the dead woods gone.

If it's the latter then I'll hand deliver Phipps my season ticket personally.

We might assume that by the end of January any senior player either out on loan or never on the bench is not wanted next season. May not be possible to loan them out on their wages or indeed because of their "quality". If their contracts finish in the summer it's easy, some don't though.

There could be a couple of permanent signings and Hammond is probably one of t hem.

Adkins does not seem to have motivated a proportion of the bloated squad. It has not been easy for him and all those injuries have not enabled him to be more ruthless.
