Have you seen today's line up? It seems that Collins is the one that Adkins was referring to that wasnt playing to instructions last Tuesday

May be Silent's making a point that it's setting a precedent. For example if Adkins has an issue with Coutts is he concerned that the player has a direct line to the Board and his role as manager is being undermined.

Too right they were wrong. Just as they were wrong to sort him out with a contract extension before a new manager was in place. Shambolic & setting an awful "players know best" precedent.

It was a rift between a ridiculously overrated manager and one of the the most diabolical players in the history of the club, so there's no reason for anyone to give a solitary fuck about what either of them think.

Phipps asked Collins for his opinion on what happened with him and Clough. What's wrong with that? Clough was shit and so is Collins but I don't see how Phipps was doing anything wrong by asking for Collins' side of the argument. Really don't understand the point or why anyone cares that much.

Because we've had to put up with another season of Collinsmediocrity after Clough had effectively sent him on his way.

Another point Silent might be making--and I certainly don't want to put words in his mouth--is that the Collins-Clough debacle has been widely held against Clough. When, just possibly, it shouldn't have been.

Virtually everyone on here (myself included) was berating Clough for dropping Collins after their fallout. I'm beginning to think that maybe we were wrong. Still, he should have got some Centre Back in on loan. Far more important that some of the other players he brought in.
The whole of last season just seems like more of a mess the more I think of it.

As to the question, there's always two sides, if Jim had only Clough's version to go on, then yes, he should have.
Though if that was the case, Jim and Co should have done it immediately, not waited any time to act.
After the PO failure, Clough was right to be shown the door. Not just for that, but for playing some of the finest anti-football I've ever seen, anywhere in the world.

This is not like you Maidenhead! Thought you would be totally against the board interfering and undermining the manager's authority? The manager and coaches know far better than the board on which players in the dressing room are the disruptive ones!

The main point I hold against Clough was after losing Maguire and him falling out with Collins he still didn't sort out the bloody centre half position, preferring to sign yet more players that weren't needed I.e. Jason Holt

Collins advised Maguire to go to Hull. Clough wasnt happy with that and neither should the Blades fans

Don't know why Collins has been dropped, Bergen's analysis is usually excellent on tactics etc.
