I still think we will get Cooper if Swansea dont go up. He is the only manager who has had a direct recommendation and id imagine subsequently he will be on the shortlist of 5, worked with brewster, mcb and has solid track record with youth

Hope not.
Swansea have just about limped into the play offs after challenging for automatic with 4 wins in their last 12 games.

Really don't get it why pundits come out stuff like that. If we take that approach we'll to end up with a Pulis or Garry Monk type. I'm happy to have an upcoming coach/manager who is proving that their methods are working now, not a manager who's methods worked 10 years ago, but still gets work on the manager merry go round. Lets give someone new a chance.
Could be they don't want us to get a decent manager, therefore that's why the pundits keep pushing all the failed deadbeats our way hoping we employ one and watch us struggle.

Palmer doesn't know Clement from a bar of soap.

Yet he dismisses him so readily.

No, what we need is someone straight off the merry go round. Maybe a Pardew or a Monk or someone really shit.

Things have changed since his playing days. With the ease of data access, someone like Blessin or Clement probably know as much about Millwall these days than Palmer does or Monk or Pardew etc.

I'd prefer Jokanovic but Clement finishing top in 2 consecutive seasons with two different teams is not to be sniffed at by any means.

For a bloke, who until recently, was living in Shanghai and has made his living on tv in the Far East, I'm surprised he's so keen to play the 'a bit too foreign' card.

Heard him as a pundit. All cliché that your average man in the pub could share, no insight at all. Palmer not being keen is a ✅ for me.

Clement would be ambitious, exciting and not unrealistic. His CV ticks a lot of what we are looking for .But, I would think, it would only be motivating for him, of we were going to make a big investment in the squad for a first time push at promotion. Which I am not sure is either worth the gamble or I certainly not what our board is thinking

Let's be right, it is a great opportunity. All are struggling financially.

Yes, Sander will leave, though aside from Spurs after lockdown and the first half at home to Fulham, we haven't really seen the best of him.

We will come down depending on your view, with the same team that got promoted 2 years back plus Brewster and McBurnie bad minus Duffy / the same team that finished 9th minus Lundstram.

Plus with 2 years of valuable experience.

It's not a bad starting point. Better than the majority start with.

I wonder if he’ll bring his staff with him?

I think a nice, gentle, "Philippe Clement....ohh la la la", to this tune, ringing around BDTBL, with many of us wearing a beret and onions around our neck, would be great.

He was born in Antwerp and played for Beerschott so I suspect he speaks a form of Dutch.

I was thinking more of his name rhyming with Dupont.

"...The Kingdom of Belgium has three official languages: Dutch, French, and German...."

Philippe Clement (the name) would suggest his family are of the French speaking persuasion.

The ones who speak Dutch and the ones who speak French keep wanting to split the country into two independent countries. The EU don't want that to happen as it sets a precedent for other countries to follow.

Clement is born and raised in Antwerp, he doesn’t speak French. His English will be ok after his time at Coventry but with an accent. It will not be Mrs. Bouquet Brittish.

Exactly, piggy Palmer doesn't want the gap to get bigger👍
remember years ago palmer parking his car in a disabled spot on b road at the hallamshire and when told to move it by a member of staff saying dont you know who i am i can park anywhere total knob

I remember he once rocked up to a local pub that I happened to be in once, and he brought one of his cronies with him. He tried to make a big impression in a huge 'everyone look at me whilst I talk really loudly' sort of way, whilst standing at the bar trying to be the centre of attention.

Everyone just ignored the prat completely much to his obvious disdain as he got louder and louder and louder... until it got to the stage where he was told by another fella to 'pipe down son or you and your pal will be leaving through the front door sharpish with my foot up your arses'. He decided to follow his new friends (who was a pretty big lad with hands the size of dinner plates) advice, drunk up, and left pretty quickly after that.

Always thought what a total tit w@nk the fella was after that 'look at me' episode.

Maybe he's changed and is a more rounded less egocentric individual now....🤔🙄

Someone who knew him said he was a nice guy, but changed when he'd had a drink or two. When he was playing for the (Arse) Oles I was told he picked a fight with someone in an Eccy Rd pub and came second in the car park 😅

Him and Waddle used to frequent The Nusery Tavern on a Sunday night quite regularly.

Both were a pair of arrogant pricks although not half as bad as Michael Vaughan, who I used to come across in The Prince of Wales at the top of Eccy Road when he was still a young Yorkshire CC player.

On course to win the championship tonight, a draw is sufficient and currently 1-0 up at Anderlecht. Then party and then free to discuss his future at other clubs…

Well Nixon said Jokanovic always close to joining clubs but often doesn't happen

I read you guys have a new coach/manager, Peter Maes, what happened to the old one?

The manager that won us promotion left in January for Washington DC in the MLS. The assistant was then promoted to head coach but the results were not that convincing anymore. Season ahead is too risky to trust a young unproven coach. So very happy with the experienced Maes.

I actually thought Losada would end up with United, especially as our board knew that there were tensions between them and Wilder.
