Great night indeed.
We got away quite early that night from London Road, and cant remember how far up, but we stopped off at a pub on the A1heading home for a couple of pints.
Only two of us in when we first got there, then slowly but surely, more and more Blades arrived until the place was rammed with Blades, obviously all in very high spirits after a great performance
The landlord was smiling all over his face as he couldn't keep pace with demand for booze, and was rushed of his feet, thinking he was making a fortune.
When we came out to head home, we saw loads of blades had opened his cellar door, and were helping themselves to crates of beers and allsorts, being loaded into cars and coaches for their journey home.
Priceless.

Me too mate, we seemed to be about 6 foot away from the back of the goal. Amazing how some of these smaller clubs have managed to improve their grounds.

remember the trouble we had parking , missed the first 5 minutes and was gob smacked to find we were losing already , but like all that season it had a happy ending

It's all very well boasting about attendance at a game that happened a mere 35 years ago, but so far, nobody's claimed attendance at the Watney Cup game in 1972.

I was there, which makes me a hugely massive Blade, or at least quite an old one, who only lived 15 miles away.

It also ended in a 4-0 win, followed by defeat in the final at Bristol Rovers.....

In Hong Kong it just has to be Felix's Bar at The Peninsula, the most overrated and overpriced watering hole I've been in since Raffles. We've moved on since then and we're just down the road from the BangCockney now, where boys will be girls and suchlike......

No idea Silent, I can hardly remember what I had for breakfast, let alone the aftermath of one of Clive Thomas's antics

TC got sent off by Clive Thomas after a late tackle on Tommy Robson. We played with 10 men for most of the game but scored a further three goals. It was the first time I had seen a Blade player being sent off.

TC played in the final at Bristol Rovers but was suspended for the first 3 league matches of the season. We won 2-1 at Birmingham but lost 2-0 at home to L**ds and 2-1 at home to Newcastle (near the end of the match a season ticket holder who sat next to me decided to leave the match early and said to me and to my dad "it shows how much we are missing Currie!"
