Id that the ball that Campbell was flagged offside for and would have been in for a one v one against their keeper? If so, that decision infuriated me as it was clear that Campbell was about 2 years onside when the ball was played to him. Shocking decision and no one on the TV made any comment about it.
Head injury rule

Thought he was fabulous yesterday. Playing in a 2 with Choudhury, who seems to spend most of his time as a centre half for some reason, leaves him quite exposed in the middle. Thought he handled himself superbly against a side who were intent on kicking anything that moved.

Peck & Souza are clearly our best midfield pairing & the one I hope we have for the rest of the season.

Edit - that wasn’t a knock on Chowdhury btw - I thought he was probably the best outfield player yesterday & a massive reason why we stifled them so much. Seemed to be in exactly the right place so many times to intercept or get a foot in - but that doesn’t get away from the fact that having him in the side leaves us light in the middle of the pitch.

Generally agree with you. Although I thought Choudhury was only good if you judge him through the lens of his slightly limited ability. He got around the pitch and put his foot in. That’s a credit to him. But he offers very little when we have the ball.

You're right, but that's also all that we can reasonably expect from him.
He was brought in to be a midfield destroyer, we're all familiar enough with Chodhury to know he doesn't do much with the ball.

What he can do, he did exceptionally well. And I don't think we've been able to say that enough about him in his short stint here.

The real key thing for me was the pressing in advanced areas. That's what Souza does, and we looed a lot better for it.

----

In possession, it seems that Wilder wants us to go to a 3 , with Choudhury as an additional CB and the full backs pushed higher up the pitch.

It's not a bad idea, but the execution is off. If we had Arblaster, it could work (maybe even Tom Davies). Someone that can take it on the turn and move it quickly.
Peck is a lot of things, but he doesn't do that consistently and the opposition know it. They stick tight to him and take him out of the game. We then have no midfield and our performances are disjointed.

We have to find another way.

Another good performance, that turn and pass to get Campbell down the side which led to the goal was quality.
Him and Hamza made Bannan and Charles Charlie Charles, who got subbed off look bang average...yeah he did make a couple of mistakes, but looks composed, and doesn't mind receiving the ball when under pressure...those little one two's and one touch lay off's while being marked..all he needs now is to add the odd goal and assist.

Arblaster, Peck, and Souza in a midfield 3, next season, would potentially be pretty awesome.
If we go up this is going to be the key question. Can the younger lads step up and be effective in the PL and can Souza do better than last time? If not we will be in big trouble again as rebuilding the midfield will cost a fortune and the really good players won't come to us.

I think this is about to change (is changing). I suspect that the new owners are paying higher wages than HRH could possibly afford. It's why we're seeing the likes of Choudhury and BBD coming on loan. We can offer more than we ever have. Added the Wilder Factor and his ability to sell the club and it's looking very rosy IMO.

I also think Souza will be much better suited this time around. He'll know what to expect, is in better shape and will be playing within a team better suited to life in the PL. Not saying we'll survive, but we won't have Slimane, Trusty, Traore as starters....

Bannan had a shocking game. Peck was a big reason for that. Kept his cool as well.

Managerial genius sausage Rohl made the mistake of playing Bannan higher. It totally neutralised him. He wasn't in the pig's build ups until he switched him late in the game which meant they invariably lumped it. Then it was about earning the right to play and winning first and second balls. Charles and the kid who won a raffle to play for them didn't control the midfield.

I though Peck and Seriki and a few others were overawed by the occasion for 10-15 minutes and we couldn't pass water. When we settled down we were the better team on the ball. Our issue then was wastefulness.

You are right ,the gulf between the Championship and the prem is getting bigger every season ,you only have to look at the prem table today and see who are at the bottom ,all the promoted teams . Teams need mega rich owners to get a grip in the prem which most clubs do not have . Forest have made it but they bought over 20 players when they got promoted and money was no problem but they struggled to survive the first season and just escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth . So if we do get promoted I am not expecting to much but the money will be nice and if we getting those parachute payments it will be worth it just to upset them at Sheff 6 .

If we had lost that game for the entirety of the International break football for me and the memory of that game would not exist
No social media no talksport no sky. Sports and if I was to. Come Accross one of them it's a fair fucks best team won through gritted teeth

Why on earth they feel the need to try and wrestle some kind of moral victory from. The ashes of every defeat when surely you would know that it is more and more embarrassing and laughable
Is beyond me
Strange bunch

For context, non of them 3 who did start in the prem would make our bench in the championship -

Yesterday We brought on oHare, holding & Cannon - leaving JSR as unused sub

Don’t know which is more laughable

He wasn't offside was pulled back because of a head injury wasn't it?

I’m disappointed that more credit has not been given to the lad for that contribution .

The little drag back and spin and the perfectly weighted and accurate short pass to Campbell were pure quality , without which the goal would not have happened . Yet almost all the clips I’ve seen start with the latter with the ball at his feet , including the highlights on the SUFC website .

That level of ability coupled with his grit , determination and obvious will to win make him the type of player that football fans throughout the country love to have in their side and I very much hope he will remain in ours for years to come.

Quite amazing what Arsenal were looking at when allowing us to take
Sydie peck and Lankshear a few years ago for an undesclosed fee.
Lankshear making his way at spurs and Sydie has been a revelation for us this season. With a lot more to come from Sydie in the near future.

Peck has been a revelation, what a young player he is. You can nitpick abit, a little bit more composure and goal threat but overall wow ! Talk about taking your chance !

A James Maddison type player, if he continues his progression to Premiership level.

Arsenal had no choice with Peck, they offered him a new deal but he refused to sign it and was out of contract. We still had to pay 150k for him though.

Agree….he did have weaknesses early on but he’s slowly improving each match.

Just shows how we all thought we’d received bad luck…..but as 1 door closes another door opens.
Peck was thrown into the deep end because we were desperate…….sink or swim?…..and he’s gradually adjusted to the improved standard.

It’s a brilliant success story…..his parents must be so proud to see his speedy rise.
He can now claim…even at his young age……to be a comfortable Championship level midfielder.
He now has such a promising future ahead of him…..could end up being better than Arblaster….who knows?

That move by Peck is up there with David Brooke’s Megs int Derby

Many thanks for posting that , which I had not seen before from that angle .

It perfectly illustrates what a wonderful piece of skill he produced in order to start the move which led to the goal , and the speed at which he did it is almost breathtaking .

It is so good I believe that even the likes of Bergkamp , Messi and Best would have been proud of it .
