I myself have made every wrong choice a guy of my age can make.

Every? You never followed the pigs did you, so don't be too hard on yourself.

I've said my piece about Evans, about how I think it cost us and I stand by that. But what's done is done, we draw a line and move on.

Well said sir.

Sadly I think there are a few more want their two penneth before we think about thinking about the possibility of perhaps maybe moving on......

Mate I've made choices that make supporting the Pigs look like a walk in the park.

People will do what they do and say what they say, that's life. But you can't change the past. Lets face it, although Footballers perhaps SHOULD be role models, many just aren't, thats how it is.

30 goals next season and a few against the Pigs and I might forgive him ;) No pressure Ched ;)

Do you think Billy could be putting in extra as he thinks he has something to prove in the Championship?

Regardless of all this stuff about Ched. Billy is our main man, on and off the pitch, and I hope he is our top scorer again next season and gets over 20.
It strikes me that Billy Sharp has something to prove every time he pulls on a Blades shirt and steps onto the pitch, and quite rightly too. He wants to score goals and he wants the team to win. If only past players had felt the same commitment to the cause then maybe we wouldn't have spent so long in Division Three. We are in the fortunate position now that we have a manager and captain who feel how we do, because they too are Blades.

Let's hope that Ched feels the same way. I get the feeling that if he does then we may just surprise a fair few teams in this league.

He had sex with a woman. Sorry to rock your boat but it happens a lot. Had it not been plastered all over the press no one would have been any the wiser. I have a daughter too and for all our moral pontification what happened wasn't breaking any law. I'd hope she wouldn't be so daft but to be honest I was pretty daft at that age.
Patronising? Much?

1. That he did.
2. Really? I'm shocked. I had no fucking idea. Or...I am really shocked. I had absolutely no idea that the exact same scenario plays out 'a lot' across this land.
3. Don't get this one at all. It was plastered all over the press before he was arrested? I would have been blissfully unaware of Josef Fritzl had it not made the papers.
4. Saying I cannot be so forgiving is 'moral pontification' now?
5. Interesting choice of pronoun. All 'her' fault, then. 'She' was so daft. 'He' on the other hand...

Not a dig BUT there is no way on this God given my daughter would have behaved like she did.
I hope you're right. But you can't ever really know that. You can say it with almost certainty as I would of both mine but yours and mine might only ever, for whatever reason or conspiracy of fate, have to get really drunk once in their lives and who knows?

I know what you mean Rusty however I think you can also look at the overall events that night and believe that your responsible parenting would have prevented your daughters putting themselves in that situation.

I have two daughters and I hope I have given them a moral compass (that sounds condescending and it's not meant to) in order to realise that type of situation needs to be avoided due to the circumstances that can follow.

The girl in this case may have lacked that guidance and as a strong believer in self responsibility I hope those who should have shown her that, (parents / step parents,) should look at themselves with a sense of letting her down.
We all hope the same, blade. Unfortunately, it doesn't necessarily work that way. You can be given all the moral guidance on this earth and still have flaws and weaknesses. I always find it interesting that whenever someone does well, succeeds, makes something of themselves and so on, that they are given credit for it. If, on the other hand, they fuck up, then it's "I blame the parents".

And how can you not, as a strong believer in self-responsibility, not include amongst those who should have shown her exactly that, the two men best in the position of being able to demonstrate it?

But a parent's job is to bring their kids up right. Why would you want or expect praise just for doing what you're supposed to do? The reward is having a kid that grows up to be a decent person. You don't expect a pat on the back for getting out of bed and going to work, for not swearing in church or for not pissing in your neighbours' garden when you've had a few, because it's just being normal and doing the right thing.

And everyone has flaws and weaknesses, everyone makes mistakes.

Christ on a bike Rustyblade you must've missed the 50 odd times we put this argument to bed over the last 5 years, once again it's been covered comprehensively above but I'm still surprised that people use this argument as if they are the only person to have thought about it like that.

the trouble is most people think its always the men thats hungry for sex
I can assure you its not the case, there are some very predatory women out there

I can see you fighting them off with a shitty stick after you regail them of your free lunch with KM :)
Some do it just for the chips ,, never mind a full meal

Not a dig but would you feel the same if it had been your daughter? I have 2 and cannot be so understanding.
We can all have daughters.and equally we can all have sons. It takes 2 to tango and as has been proven , willingly. There are thousands of girls get pregnant before they are 16..very few of those are raped despite parents guidance it happens. Some girls are more ptomiscuous than others.and have been since year dot

I was a huge sceptic of the signing when it was announced, but reading that made me think how astute Wilder has been in bringing Ched back.

He's added another player to his squad, passionate about the club, with the burning desire to make up for lost time and achieve a national squad call up. All that within budget means it ticks all the CW requisites.

It all falls into the Wilder philosophy. Hunger and desire to play for Sheffield United.

Sharp and Ched on top of their game would be a nightmare for Championship defenders and Wilder is just the man to get them playing to those levels.

Very encouraged.

Actually, Bush, that's exactly the point I was making such a cack-handed job of explaining. You do what you're supposed to do and the kid should get the credit both ways, good or bad. Nature or nurture is only really the start for me. It's what you make yourself of the materials and the situation given you that really counts.

Although I liked your post I would like to think you've brought your daughters up better than this slapper has been

Believe it or not there are women out there who are nothing but rotten filthy slappers without an ounce of morality or self respect

What happened that night was not unusual for this girl and something that she had participated in before

The absolute truth may never be known but I do not for one second believe that this particular girl was not up for it

If a women wants to have a threesome with 2 blokes, is it really that bad a thing in today's world? Pretty much every guy would want to have a threeesome with 2 birds, yet it's deemed ok.

The young girl in this case didn't feel able to tell her Mum why she was at the Premier Inn when she phoned her that morning in need of a lift home. It's very easy in those circumstances to understand why you resort to a little white lie to get you out of trouble; think back to your school days when you stood in front of the headteacher - shaking in your shoes. Trouble is - those little white lies can turn into bloody great problems when they have to multiply in order to maintain the first one.
Parents need to reflect on the consequences of over-indulgence in discipline and moralising, and maybe show more love, respect and support in order to ensure a truthful exchange with their children.

I still think its harsh to put all the blame on Ched for doing a seedy 3 some in a hotel, as it transpires she wasnt anti it and to think this is the onlt time its ever happened is naive in the extreme .
Swingers clubs abound around the globe and theres thousandfs of girls on tv trying to get a signal on their phone by shaking it about while showing you her number to help her get a signal,
T make out all girls are prim and proper virtuous virgins might have been right when Fatty Foulkes played for us , but not today

I too have a daughter , and expect her to be virtuous , but in truth have no idea how truly virtuous shes been , or am in a position to chastise her if shes been a bit looser than Id like

Jeez lads there are about thirty threads a hundred pages long discussing that night and the various shades of dickhead he was can you just leave it or go back on there.

If anyone wants to summarise the article that this thread is about, that would be nice because I'm not clicking on a daily mail link for anyone.
