I think that's the best article I ever read about the whole subject. I've had big doubts... as expressed on this forum. But I think him and Wilder have helped sooth a lot of them.

It's time to forget the past and move on. That goes for all on both sides of the argument as it seems clear that Ched Evans has.

Like his attitude, Wilder clearly does too, but personally would prefer him to stfu and do his talking on the pitch

No doubting his commitment nor his attitude, hopefully the ability is still there. Also after that article, the Chedists back off and leave Jess Ennis be.

Ched has hired a personal trainer so he comes back to pre season in top condition

To be fair he is resoonding to questions asked. I know you like to stoke the fire but there really is no need.

Out of interest who was he responding to? This is the second article in the past month with comments attributed to him but with no clear source. No desire to stoke any fire with me, its admirable how he doesn't hold grudges. Not going to discuss it further on here despite what he says Ennis's approach left a lot to be desired IMO, abuse is contemptible as opposed to constructive criticism. That's all water under the bridge now.

Good luck Ched.
I always rooted for you as you made a mistake my son could make.
Fire us to the prem mate . UTB

The Daily Mail

'Evans says' is all there is. Doesn't state 'in an interview with the Daily Mail', and I don't know why he would agree to it anyway. Last month his comments just came out of no-where with no source so fake news in my eyes, this seems more credible anyway que sera sera UTB

If it wasn't for Ched, the DM's output would have halved over the last 5 years.

Sounds like the lad has grown up. Perhaps parenthood and the small matter of having a lot of time to think has made him realise what he had and what he now has.

I wish him all the best in his future career - hopefully scoring lots of goals for the Blades. Time to forget the past and move on with a positive frame of mind re Ched.

Not a dig but would you feel the same if it had been your daughter? I have 2 and cannot be so understanding.

I know what you mean Rusty however I think you can also look at the overall events that night and believe that your responsible parenting would have prevented your daughters putting themselves in that situation.

I have two daughters and I hope I have given them a moral compass (that sounds condescending and it's not meant to) in order to realise that type of situation needs to be avoided due to the circumstances that can follow.

The girl in this case may have lacked that guidance and as a strong believer in self responsibility I hope those who should have shown her that, (parents / step parents,) should look at themselves with a sense of letting her down.

He had sex with a woman. Sorry to rock your boat but it happens a lot. Had it not been plastered all over the press no one would have been any the wiser. I have a daughter too and for all our moral pontification what happened wasn't breaking any law. I'd hope she wouldn't be so daft but to be honest I was pretty daft at that age.

Quite common now as a lot of clubs rely on the players to do their own Strength and Conditioning, I would assume that our in-house S&C team have given Ched specific fitness standards to reach as a minimum and Ched will either be working with his own PT to achieve those independently or his PT will be talking to SUFC to ensure that he's in top form.

I posted a link to a twitter feed last week with a video showing Billy doing some High Intensity drills with a PT up in Leeds (i think) and i know a few others also go to gyms/ fitness studios locally, as well as having PT and their own nutritionists.

Exactly this. We all like to think we have the perfect children but we were all young, daft and made stupid decisions that in hindsight we wouldn't have done sober.

Do you think Billy could be putting in extra as he thinks he has something to prove in the Championship?

Regardless of all this stuff about Ched. Billy is our main man, on and off the pitch, and I hope he is our top scorer again next season and gets over 20.

Not a dig BUT there is no way on this God given my daughter would have behaved like she did.

the trouble is most people think its always the men thats hungry for sex
I can assure you its not the case, there are some very predatory women out there

I have two step-daughters, aged 23 and 19, but my wife and their mum says, "If you're a girl, you get drunk and you go to a footballers hotel room that you've just met, you're not going for a game of chess".

However, on the other side of that coin, Evans should never have been there. The worst decision since Abraham Lincoln said, "I'm bored kicking round the house, let's take in a show".

Over the last few years, probably since he was at Donny, Billy's physic has visibly changed, much more solid but leaner. I think he's one of those players that works incredibly hard on and off the pitch and to be honest he's the ultimate professional to have at the club. If Ched comes in looking anything like as sharp (no pun intended) as Billy then we know that we have nothing to worry about.

Billy has probably realised that in this stage of his career that injuries can take longer to recover from as well as the number of matches he has to play, his fitness and ability to recover from one game to the next is key.

The proof is there to see, Billy rarely looks tired or misses games through injuries. I'd guess that PT is something he's done for a few preseasons now, but the ease of sharing videos and photos over social media, coupled with the commercial benefits for the coaches and PT means that we see it

Very good article. I've heard that the PT that ched now uses is highly regarded in Cheshire and has some local premiership players amongst his clientele. I have a PT and my fitness has really gone up a level. I'm 47 so a bit a lot older than ched!!. Good luck to ched and can't wait to see him and billy firing us towards the premiership!!. UTB FTP

This for me. Bladesway makes a very good point, we've all done daft stuff, I myself have made every wrong choice a guy of my age can make.

I've said my piece about Evans, about how I think it cost us and I stand by that. But what's done is done, we draw a line and move on. Much more serious shit to worry about when you think about it.
