Were you worried that he didn't raise any issues with Marlon King signing for us?
I honestly don’t care at all if he publicly stated an opinion on Marlon King or Ched Evans.

I imagine he’s against the behaviour of both of them whether he decided to say it in the press or not.

Personally I think the whole Ched Evans shitstorm happened 10 years ago, and got debated to death at the time.

I thought at the time, as did many that his conviction was unsafe, and it was later quashed, but also at the time there was plenty who was uncomfortable at the time with resigning him whilst in the eyes of the law he was a convicted rapist.

I also think the signing of Marlon King was more about McCabe testing the water to gauge what the reaction would be rather than adding a quality player to the squad and given it was a low key reaction, it gave the green light to resigning Evans.

Also at the time there was a huge campaign about resigning Evans and the club patrons and sponsors were all pressed about their stance towards United bringing back Evans. Heaton will have been in a difficult position as the time as endorsing Evans would have been very detrimental to his music career and silence would have taken that he was in agreement with it so he had nowhere else to go with it.

I also think the whole sorry episode needs binning to the history books and forgetting about as it was a horrible, toxic time to be a Blade and the way the club handled it at the time was very, very poor

Just curious, how many of The Housemartins actually supported The Blades, apart from Heaton? Not that it's important, just curious as the band always used to be labelled as United supporters. Didn't that Fatboy Slim bloke used to be in the band, or was that just a cheese induced hallucination? I dunno, rock and metal is my thang, so I never paid them much attention.

Aye, Norman Cook, aka Quentin Cook aka Fatboy Slim was the bassist in The Housemartins and is a Brighton fan.

I think the rest of the band were mostly from Hull.

Aye
The band were, in essence a ‘vehicle’ for P.D. Heaton
Cook was a ‘replacement’ bass player for a fella called Ted Key who had been in The Gargoyles - still performs in ‘ull
Housemartins had 3 different drummers, 2nd of which ((Hugh Whittaker) did a significant stretch for arson & axe attack !!!! - subsequently played for (some iteration of) Freddie & The Dreamers ?!?!?!?!?

Haven't looked past the last few weird pages about King / Evans but a bit odd to hold this on play off final weekend, even if he's had assurances the Championship one isn't going to be on the same day, it's a bit badly timed for it to fall on the same weekend, at least of course unless the Championship final is the week before or after?

I suggest you read the reasoning behind Ched's successful appeal
Aye
Perhaps you need need to ‘refresh’ (y) our recollection/ understanding

The acquittal was informed by the fact that the woman was deemed NOT to be “extremely pissed”. The retrial jury heard that (2) other (new) witnesses described her manifesting very similar behaviours towards them as CE
It was established that this was sufficient to demonstrate a (consensual) pattern of behaviour

The complaint herself stated (at the original trial) stated she had been drinking but was not “out of control” - this was overlooked / ignored at the initial hearing & contributed to the appeal / retrial ( & CE appointing new (competent?) legal representatives )

By definition anyone deemed to be intoxicated to the extent of being incapacitated cannot give “consent” -
Hope this helps

Manifesting similar behaviours... is that code for "she was gagging for it"?

Genuine question, I'm not quite sure how to interpret that.

In essence (crudely) yes!?!?!?
The other 2 witnesses described the complainant communicating specifically / explicitly what she intended to do to / with them which was extremely similar to CE description of what she said (did?) to him .
Allowing their evidence was in itself contentious as (some) argue(d) that her descriptions of her (unconventional?!) sexual proclivities/ preferences should not be allowed as such may unduly influence/ prejudice the Jury’s (‘prudish’ / conventional) perceptions & as as such was irrelevant

It really does. Thank you.
Happy to be of assistance
The entire episode was, & apparently remains, horrendously controversial contentious divisive & detrimental: far beyond the Football Club I (we) support.
At the risk of appearing sanctimonious, I worry when ‘misinformation’ / misunderstanding is propagated / perpetrated

Or, (apologies for paranoia) are you taking the piss ?!😳
