Sorry, but I don't belive that you were 'there'.

We only played the S6 deluded once in the 80s (Easter Saturday 1980).

We played DirtyLeeds a lot morethroughthe 80s and into the 90s. They carried on with their usual cheating, seat smashing and even managed to set the disabled stand alight at Barnsley.

If you really were there, then you know your history.

Bamford has to prove himself as a player, but please don't try to pretend that a Leeds background, is of no consequence to anybody over 40.
Yes I was there for those games in the 80s and got coined by them in 1990 when 800 of us were shoehorned into that side terrace, with more of us in the Lowfields with Leeds. Just because I don't share your opinion doesn't make it any less valid.

Ok, so taking you at your word, do you think Leeds are exactly the same as every other club we have ever played, or might they just squeeze into that little group of shitty bastard clubs that we hate for good reason?

If so, do you see why a player coming from them is not entirely bagage free?

If not, you are an angel, so please continue with your good works and feel free to correct me at every turn.

A Leeds background is fuck all. Delusional fans that all fanbases have that hate people for no reason other than an unhealthy obsession with clubs other than their own. Football should mean the world but ultimately when it means you have to harbour decades long prejudices to a rivalry that is fairly insignificant you should reassess football’s meaning in your life in order for it to not have a negative impact.

We’ve beaten Wednesday, watch all the videos, have a beer and don’t be so petty.

Please answer why somebody playing for Leeds (as part of a career) should create genuine baggage, and not in reference to something from decades ago that was like any other football club in the country (don’t try and tell me football clubs didn’t have loads of twats supporting them in the 80s).

There was a match that went on, and Bamford played well.

The extent as to which you are deranged about Leeds is ridiculous, as I said normal Blades don’t think about them, especially as we barely play them. And to unnecessarily dislike somebody that used to play for them is really weird, most United fans aren’t like that with anyone, except from a few ex-Wednesday players that deserve it.

Bamford did okay in the 30 minutes he was on the pitch.

I like 'deranged' and I can live with that, but I'm more concerened about your definition of 'normal Blades'.

Why don't you stick a poll uop and see how many 'normal Blades', have no issue at all with our Yorkshire brethren at the top of the M1?

You have contradicted yourself old bean.

'Football should mean the world', and yet harbouring prejudices is wrong - do you actually understand what makes a derby?

Oh, and by the way, I've had a few beers, but thanks for the advice.

Fairly pleasantly surprised. He moved about like he was fit, and didn’t look like he was playing vets league. Got his head up and played cannon in too.

Realistically playing 2 strikers we’ll need to rotate and use the bench a lot. Any extra viable option we can get our mitts on can’t be sniffed at.

In 2003 they were still smashing seats at the Lane after Jags goal went in, but I take your point that factually, that is 2.2 decades ago.

If you could be arsed to ask any fan who ever travelled a bit, who made their top 5 hated teams, you would see a theme. Yes, their local rivals obvioulsy, but everybofy hates fucking Leeds, and for good reason.

That aside, our new signing is a good lad and happened to be acceidentally filmed abusing our manager. How many other new signings have done that?

I'm really not sure whytare trying so hard to prove that Patrick Bamford is the best thing since sliced bread, and the answer to all our problems.
He is a a striker with a not particulary impressive scoring record, who played for a club we hate, but please carry on.

Calm down.

McGoldrick was a superbly gifted footballer, playing his best stuff just outside the box, to link in other players, or play killer assist passes.

Bamford is a DirtyLeeds reject, with a half decent 30 minutes behind him.
I don’t give a fuck if he’s Beelzbub himself if he can help keep us up

Thought it was a very good cameo against an appalling team but the very early signs were good and can only make us more confident moving forwards and for the record, I can’t fucking stand Leeds.

Not sure I agree. Cooper made a blocking run and Bamford went into him.
He doesn't have to move out of Bamford's way. Didn't think there was much in it.

The only pen I thought we should have had was the Tanganga one.
They often don't get given because the ref decides they both have hold of each other, but that clearly wasn't the case. Tanganga is staring at the ref the whole time in disbelief.

The "handball" looked mostly chest to me. Certainly wasn't a stonewaller.
The handball looked just that to me. Middle of the upper arm, not the shoulder.

I can't stand Leeds United. Living in York I hear more noise from them than I do the pigs these days.

But, Bobby Davison came from them and he's down in United folklore. If Bamford does a job for us and helps turn around this shitshow of a season, I won't care a bit who he used to play for.

And they pale into insignificance compared to how much I hate Wednesday, but look at the players we've had who used to play for them. Bradders, Geary, Alan Quinn, my username is named after an ex-grunter, who helped get us promoted after years in the wilderness.

Once they pull on the red and white, they get supported. (with 1 curly haired exception to prove the rule...)

Bamford was a gnat's cock away from getting an assist and a goal on his debut. Not bad for someone who hasn't kicked a ball in anger for a while.

Too early to say, but I am hopeful that he will prove to be a very smart signing. I loved his presser this week as well.

I should coco, most normal blades rate Leeds as our second biggest rivalry, yet they don’t get irked by them like you. But what’s normal isn't that important, it’s more significant that you hate Leeds beyond a normal level, to the extent you are bemoaning one of our own players who did a job in a 3-0 derby win. Nobody seriously holds hatred for every ex player of a club that there’s some rivalry with.

Once again, I’m saying that Bamford once having played for Leeds is irrelevant. There’s no real reason for disliking him for that.

Of course I understand what makes a derby, but if your involvement in a derby goes beyond occasional dislike, silly chants and a lot of good humour and fun it’s too far and is making you angrier for no reason. Too ma my football fans have a relationship with the game that involves angry thoughts 24/7, which in my experience makes them a bad person to be around in general.

I think you take “we all hate Leeds scum” too seriously. Yeah I don’t like the football club but I don’t bother to get annoyed by them as it doesn’t offer me any positives. You’re relationship with Leeds is derangement if it makes you dislike our own player.

You do not seriously believe singing that someone’s a wanker is abuse and any more than banter. If so you and I and every football fan regularly abuse anyone at a game for any reason. Bamford getting involved with fans and his club is a positive. Wilder today was dancing to that very same chant and had previously called Bamford a prat, don’t get involved on his behalf.

I don’t think Bamford is a great player, he’s a decent one. Also a 1/3 scoring record at the championship and prem is good, do you think a 15 goal championship season is poor? The last time one of our players hit that was Sharp in 18/19. The bloke’s played for England in a time with a decent group of strikers (in 2021 we had Kane, Rashford,

I really don’t like Leeds but he’s just an ex player from there, I don’t think he’ll be sending the owners a Christmas card this year!

Have a listen the the half hour interview with him, I was really impressed, he speaks well, seems very bright and goes through the incident with wilder which wilder spoke about when it happened. He’s also kept himself very fit training and is ready to go. He wasn’t injured last season just out of choice, I think like the best wilder players, he’s got a point to prove

if he can perform like he did for those 30 minutes whether as a starter or coming off the bench he will be a great addition to the squad. He is still only 32, if we can get safe this season, I think he could play a big part in that. He has averaged through out his championship appearances a goal every 3 games through the different clubs. If he was signed on and could get us circa 7 goals to the end of the season that could easily make the difference. Even just his link up play got us on the front foot. At 32 he will be wanting a contract somewhere a 2 1/2 deal with option to extend for a year based on performances would probably have been discussed. I don’t know where he lives but with playing for Leeds, I imagine it can’t be too far away making his training journey commutable too without having to move the family, so all up for grabs.

Agreed.

Lovely ball through to Cannon from Bamford where Cannon should have slotted it home instead of hitting it straight at the keeper.

No. It’s the Cannon that has been woeful all season and last. The Cannon who had a chance of a gimme and screwed up. The Cannon who had a speculative shot that was pretty weak , deflected past a shit Wednesday keeper.
Criticise Cannon all you like for his past performances. But he was decent yesterday, scored against the pigs and turned a standard 2-0 away win into the biggest away win in the history of the Sheffield Derby.

I would start him and Bamford together on Wednesday night. His confidence needs to keep growing and if he can get another goal we could see his fortunes turning with the clubs.

If we stick with 4-4-2, early days but feels like we could go to having 2 strike partnerships to rotate between.

Campbell must start if not injured surely. Remember, Pompey are far, far better than the Grunters. We looked fantastic in the final half hour yesterday but a lot of that was due to them being absolutely shite.

Saying that, I don't rule out a Cannon / Bamford partnership developing.

With 3 game weeks we probably do need to try and give Campbell a break, but you are right, it's easy to get carried away after a win against a side that offered very little
