What do you think the odds will be if i put a tenner on adkins right now, thinking about it.
I reckon a tenner will make him favourite, 20 and the bookies will stop taking bets and 30 will prompt the sky cameras to appear in the car park...it's madness

my son spoke to robinson after clough was appointed. they asked him why he did'nt come, he said he wanted to
but the club would not pay the compensation. Fear this will be the cheap option
Thought his contract was close to expiring and there were some doubts about whether it would be renewed. Then he was linked with us and shortly afterwards signed a new contract with MKD.

Really doesn't matter how many names we throw into the pot the board will either have had someone in mind before sacking NC or they will go through a short list, either way I will back who is in charge come the new season. We have no influence on who they choose, I'm sure whoever it is will not be the choice every fan would have wanted, but that's life we get on with it and expect the best.

Might do it then whilst the odds aren't that bad as i'd like to see the odds change just for a laugh, but also
i think we have a decent chance of getting him.

Time will tell.
Under your logic then, answer this..
Why did Karl Robinson turn us down before we appointed Clough? Lack of ambition?

He probably felt he had a job to finish at MKD. That having been said, he will also know that he won't be able to take them any further, a bit like Bournemouth :)

Bournemouth and Eddie Howe will act as a huge example to Karl Robinson
which is why i feel he will want to stay and see what he can achieve there.

Possibly but for every Bournemouth there's a dozen Yeovils. Depends how much backing he's got budget wise but yep, I'd expect him to give it a go there. He does seem to treat every Sky appearance as a job interview for us though !

I don't like how people are writing Parkinson off before he's even got the job :\ He's not exactly my first choice, but give the bloke a chance

How About a Manager that has 3 Promotions from League 2 to League 1 and a Promotion from Championship to the Premiership....

sounds good on paper.... but thats the honours of one Micky Adams....

How about 1 Promotion from League 2 to League one and Promotion to The Premiership...

again good on paper.... thats the honours of Danny Wilson

sometimes what is good on paper isnt always good on the touchline.....

I think barring actually sticking by a manager (ala Warnock) the only thing we havent tried to get success is a foreign manager.
We're in lg1 though neither of those are relevant. Or recent. Recent promotion from lg1 is a must and should be the criteria set by the board

What's the latest odds can someone cut and paste pls

He's full of shit! Says Megson, Coleman & Curbishly are on a list of 7 for interviews in Belgium!
Highly unlikely to have those on the list.
He's made about 7 statements, with no quotes or sources in a matter of around 20 mins.
Seems to me he's just looking for more followers or something.
So yeah, full of BS IMO.

Oddly, saw Phil P on Saturday morning. Unfortunatly he couldnt help his sons Harrogate Team being beaten in the Yorkshire Cup final by the mighty Sheffield Boys U13's . Parkinson out! ;-)

Well Jim is still in Riyadh so the interviewing in London today rumour is BS!!

They often do these things by teleconferencing these days, it's hard to get everyone one place at the same time

Coleman is on the verge of making history with Wales and being a manager at Euro 2016. It's like the queen applying for a cleaners job. Bullshit.

so does that rule out Adkins? as he was 5 years ago the last time he was in League 1 hardly "recent" ? If that's the case we would have to also Consider Dave Jones (who got promoted more recently that Adkins from League 1...

The last 5 seasons the following managers have achieved this

Simon Grayson (once with Preston & once With Huddersfield)
Karl Robinson (once with MK Dons)
Steve Cotterill (once with Bristol)
Steve Evans (once with Rotherham)
Mark Warburton (once with Brentford)
Kenny Jackett (once with Wolves)
Gary Johnson (once with Yeovil)
Eddie Howe (once with Bournmouth)
Saunders/Flynn (once with Doncaster)
Dave Jones (once with Wednesday)
Chris Powell (once with Charlton)
Darren Ferguson (once with Peterborough)
Gus Poyet (once with Southampton)
Nigel Adkins (once with Southampton)

think if you take away those that wouldnt come.... those we wouldnt want to come that list is extremely short......

Out of that list Grayson, jackett, Johnson, Jones, Adkins all have multiple promotions out of this league. The others in there should be considered too. Giving the job to someone with lg1 promotion on their cv is the only way to justify getting rid of clough. We may as well kept clough in my opinion if we don't.

With Grayson's first I seem to remember Lee Clarke having done most of the work,

the problem is its not always as simple as having a previous promotion on your CV even in the league you are in....

Our last promotion was achieved by a man who had ZERO championship promotions under his belt

in fact T'old Harry Bassett had only 1 promotion from the same division we were in (which was 5 seasons previous...) and he'd just stepped in having had an awful time at Watford...

it just shows there is no exact science for success....

Graysons first was with Blackpool and then again with leeds. Huddersfield appointed him because of this history of getting teams up and he didn't let them down. Again the same with preston. He should be our number one target.

Warnock did take notts county up to the top league and had many promotions to his name against the odds with limited finance. His history was just what we needed and we should take the same approach now.

The fact we then sacked him when he was the ideal man to take us back up (as shown at qpr) is a big factor why we have ended up where we are today.
