If we have a chance of getting him permanently, I agree.

Holgate would have also been great for this but he had to go and get in Everton's team just in time.
Restos can apparently play holding midfield too, by his own admission, so that gives him a few positions he’ll be competing for not just covering.

You never know, Leverkusen might just be fed up of having a 16mil prospect who just can’t get fit, and want to get whatever money they can back for him. Stranger things have happened, certainly. And with Matt Prestridge and co being utter freaks I have no doubt we’d somehow manage to get him back to full fitness.

It’s an exciting one this.

I don't get the 600k figure.

Is that what we will pay as a fee for 4 months of getting him fit for them and quite possibly not playing?

Can't be the full fee if they paid 15m for him.

Intriguing link. Can’t say I know anything about him but If he’s moved for over £15m a few years ago and played for his country - he must have something about him.

Would seem to be a versatile piece to add to the defence we have. Wonder if we would try and add any sort of clause into any deal or if he’s part of the long term plans in Germany....
Jordan Rhodes cost 10 million, price tags mean nothing.

i know he’s been crap for Wednesday but he scored over 200 goals - that’s what they paid the money for.

production or potential generates the large transfer fees - I’m not saying it means he’ll work out but it certainly points to it being an interesting signing.

It’s not major money. We probably paid similar for Besic. Loan fees are big these days.

this - by all accounts Leeds offered 3m to sign Adams for 5 months with a option to buy in the summer.

And to be honest - If it’s a case of we would be interested (as say one of our main summer targets) the chance to sign him on loan and get to have a good look at him. A try before you buy as it were. Strikes me a being a sensible thing before committing to a large outlay.

If it's all about first team football for him, and why wouldn't it be, then why should he come here?

Nobody gets into our team.

Basham is going nowhere.

So where would Retsos play? Midfield?

Of we’re to progress as much as we all luv bash he needs a replacement sooner rather than later.

Unless we're looking to buy him, loaning him doesn't make sense. We've just brought in Rodwell to be cover for Basham, who's been fabulous.
Reckon there's any chance he's being brought in as competition for Norwood? I've been reading he's an excellent passer and he's quoted as saying he can play defensive midfield. Just a thought - haven't watched him so dunno how he'd translate to that role in our system.

It makes perfect sense. Rodwell wasn’t even on the bench today and hasn’t played since last season Where he only played a handful of games.

Rodwell is just for numbers imo.

So if all goes to plan we'll have two Greek international defenders, what with Giorgis Baldockis impending call up!

This is the reason we’re signing him. Wilder’s a bit unsure about letting him head to Greece frequently where he doesn’t know anyone, so getting Retsos in, as “his new Greek mate” is all in keeping with his transformation to Baldokis.

Looks like he's a left sided defender, central defender/ holding midfielder.

Didn't we sign the lad from Forest for this position?

If he's signing then surely that means Bryan must be leaving on loan.

Could be a loan with an option to make it perm at the end of the season? Otherwise seems an odd addition. But hey if it improves our overall squad strength then then it's a positive.

You’ve missed the point.

Our success in the Prem so far is down to us doing things differently that the opposition don’t expect. The next phase is lining all the players up on the left hand side of the field and attacking in a conga formation.

Leverkusen are a fair few levels above us. If they've paid £15m for a 19 year old, why are they giving up on him?

Calling bullshit on this one

CB arriving on loan from Bayern Levekusen. Right footed, can play anywhere along a back line. 21. Capatained Olympiacos when he was just 18. Levekusen signed him for 15 million in 2017 and he impressed during his first season there but has suffered from a few injuries since. Described as very composed on the ball, reads the game well and is an aerial threat. Would suit the RCB position.

No. Convert him to a striker! Gotta think outside the box see?

A 6 month loan, using Sheffield United to get him fit sounds like brilliant business to me!
I don't see a young lad who's never played in this league getting enough minutes to get fit. I don't see why Leverkusen would do it. Why not just send him somewhere he'll play?

Well if you ask me, there are a few interesting points here.

Could this be a way Wilder does his business on players he has doubts about? Or players whom he can’t get any validation on their character? Loan with a view to buying reduces the risk to the club, and it could be argued had clubs like West Ham employed this kind of “try before you buy” they wouldn’t have the mess they’re in again! Signing foreign players from foreign leagues is all new to Wilder after all.

could also be a good way for the lad to see if he fancies the club, the country, the weather etc....after all a lad that age moving to a new country and maybe struggling with language is a big test for their character too.

We might be trying to see how our new “player liaison” officer gets on...assuming we found someone for the job and want to test it out before we go all in!!

finally, the lads struggles with injury and fitness have been mentioned. Is it possible other clubs are looking at how we manage players, our low injury levels and high fitness and see this as a good way to have an asset returned to them in much better shape than when they left? If so, we should be charging Leverkusen never mind the other way around!!
But there has to be a reason why they would be happy to let him go given their investment in him as a teenager.

'kin hell mate! Open your mind up a bit. Why on earth won't he play here? Why? He's back to playing now after a series of injuries. He captained the Greek U21 side a few weeks ago in an international match. He's not exactly crocked and looking for rehabilitation is he?

Bleedin 'ell! Do you go through life like this, failing to see the opportunity in things? I think it's a fantastic opportunity for us, the player and Bayer Leverkusen.

Whose minutes is he taking??? He's got 14 league games to make an impact on a team that, outside of the front 2 picks itself. Norwood is captain and integral to the team, he's not dropping out. Besic has started winning minutes. Fleck is our best player. Bash? No chance
