QPR are wrapping up a £750k deal for keeper Paddy Kenny.

The Sheffield United shot-stopper has completed a medical and agreed personal terms and is set to be unveiled later today.

Rs boss Neil Warnock was delighted the Irishman put pen to paper on a contract that will automatically elevate the 32-year-old to the number one slot at Loftus Road.

Warnock said: "It's the third time I've signed Paddy and I'm delighted to be linking up with him again.

"There were times when it was him or Shay Given for the Irish spot, and in my opinion Paddy didn't get the recognition he deserved.

"It's well known he's made mistakes in the past but he'll be a great capture for QPR, and I'm sure he's going to be popular in the changing room and with our fans."

The Warnock quote is confirmation enough IMO.

:(

Very disappointing. An absolute shambles on SUFC's part. To keep him, offer a co0ntract and then lose him because of a clause is just ridiculous. Big issue with him saying he owes the fans and the club etc then fucking off.

I'll wait to see what happens in the next few weeks before I get too upset about this. I'm interested in: a) a club statement, b) who will replace him and c) a statement by him. I've a feeling there is more to this than meets the eye.

Still, the guy is one of the best keepers outisde the premiership and to lose him (regardless of age, bans, clauses etc) is a blow.

Just read this myself.

Talk about loyalty! What a wanker he is!

I can't blame the club, other than for standing by this prick time and time again when he goes and does this.

For me theres no more to this than money

Quite possibly, but you never know. We could have lined up another keeper and be forcing him out. It's unlikely, but a possibility.

There isn't more to this than meets the eye - as always we've received a bid so we sell.

My Father did some work on Kyle Reid's house in Sheffield last year when he signed (my dad is a non football fan) He found out he played for Blades and joked that if he was any good we'd sell him - Kyle replied thats what he was told when he signed!!!!

ANY BID RECEIVED FOR ANY OF OUR PLAYERS = SOLD

United are stupid if the clause of 750k is true, I'll be slightly disappointed in paddy after what he said

But you forget about Monty LS. We've fought off legions of top teams over the last decade to keep him in place. We've even managed to stop him going on a FREE . . . . .oh.

Wouldn't he have been out of contract now if he hadn't re-signed ? Seems to me we've recouped the waste of money wages we paid during last season and made a small profit on someone who could have moved for nothing this Summer.

To be honest, the fee etc is secondary to all the talk of him 'owing the club' for standing by him when we could easily have cancelled his contract and let him rot.

I,ve just spoke to a bloke who is a massive blade himself, who has told me he's been forced out?? We,ve seen it before.... Tonge, beattie.

Was he shown the door or did he instigate a move himself? If this was down to him and not the club then he'll deserve all the stick he gets when he returns.

I'm not disappointed in Paddy at all. If some bugger offered me to double my wages, I wouldn't even think about it!

More disappointed in the fact a release fee was placed in his contract, and that was down to the board agreeing to it.

Jim beat me to it - you can't really accuse the club of being stupid if we get £750k for a player who we could have lost for nothing if he hadn't signed the contract. Maybe the clause was not a great idea, but that may have been a condition for signing on lower wages.

That can't wash with me. If my employer had paid me for a year whilst unable to work I'd feel some sense of debt to them. I certainly wouldn't jump ship at the first time anyone came sniffing.

But then again I'm not a footballer and generally have more moral fibre in my little finger than most of these greedy buggers!

If this is true (and no confirmation as yet)... the general reaction seems to be hero to zero.

He'll need the extra cash to afford all the curries in That London.

He also may have gone to get away from Halifax and all the bad memories the place must have for him.

He's gone, it's a loss but it's no great loss, we move on

Well if he wasn't pushed then he can fook off.. I am sure he will enjoying his coining and the abuse he will get from the kop. Hope it was worth it Paddy.

People are saying they would jump for a double payrise. I didn't and stayed in Sheffield for my family. Paddy's family is shacked up with his former best mate. When will he get to see them down in London?

Now tell me if you would have jumped for double bubble if you were Paddy

I've never met you but I can't believe you'd turn down a £500k a year pay rise on a point of principle.

I'm gutted Paddy's gone but I can't blame him for taking what might well be his last big pay day.

Our take on it earlier on in the week was that he wouldn't want to move too far away from his kids...

I'm not too gutted as long as we get Simmo on a permanent. I don't want another set of loan keepers.

Sadly I think that really is the attitude at the club. Just another one gone, who cares.

As someone said earlier, the fact that there are direct quotes from Sir Neil is as good as an official confirmation...

Perhaps the club want to wait until we can unveil Simonsen, before breaking the bad news about the unloyal cough medicine prick

I don't think anyone's particularly blaming him for going Coops, more a case of it coming so quickly after the 'I owe the club everything' speech.
