Oyston out

You are aware their nickname is "Seasiders" you dribbler?

I suspect Mustela might just have had a little "Louise Mensch moment" there.

Anyway, Blackpool got their "Oyston Out" chant from the kop (& pretty decent it was too, I thought) towards the end - i.e at our convenience. Glad it happened, & that we showed support of their cause.

Fully supportive of them in their aims to get the arsewipe out of their club, but just think it's very self-indulgent of Blackpool fans to expect supportive chants from us at a set time during the game, i.e. at a time when our priorities are totally different & are concentrated on said game.
They're obsessed with the issue (understandably); we're not. Even so, glad we displayed some solidarity.

But do you expect the Blackpool fans or the board that they are protesting about to refund that?

The fans caused it. They can bloody well refund it. Portsmouth have been all the way down from Div 1 to Div 4 and FA Cup winners and I can't recall their fans causing matches to be abandoned. We went from 6th in Div 1 in 1975 to 4th Div in 1981 and did not cause matches to be abandoned.

Blackpool supporters groups should make a donation to their Huddersfield counterparts as a goodwill gesture.

Neither did we cause matches to be abandoned when we were fighting against Woolhouse/Brealey in the 1990's.

Have Hudds fans been complaining about the abandonment, & asking for refunds?

It was a nothing, end-of-season game.

I read about their attempts to get their money back in the Huddersfield Examiner.

Does the fact that it was a nothing, end of season game mean that the Hudds fans pay less for petrol in their cars, rail travel and match tickets?

Thought not.

Blackpool were fined by the FA for "failing to control their fans" - logic suggests therefore that, if compensation should have been paid, it should have been paid by the club who failed to carry out the "controlling of fans" that was required of them.

There again, if the Oystons hold their own fans in such contempt, it should hardly come as any surprise if their contempt extends to football fans as a whole (including Udders fans).

Agree with that.

There was a pitch invasion just after Cardiff's late winner at BDTBL in the last game of the 1977-78 season and the ref decided not to continue the match. Finishing in 12th place in the 2nd division was the lowest placing for us at the time

Fair enough, Silent, I stand corrected. I assume that the result stood? Did any further pitch invasions take place though as we slid down the leagues?

Yes, the result stood. Not sure if it was frustration due to the poor last few seasons we had or just that it was a minority starting the invasion and encouraging others which grew in numbers.

Yes we did have two more unsavoury pitch invasions and fans kicking opposing players, after the final whistle of the 2-2 draw against Leicester in May 1979 (we got relegated) and the 1981 pitch invasion that diplomat just mentioned

Pitch invasions and violence were of course, far more common in the 70's and 80's. Thankfully they have generally become less commonplace nowadays.

Obviously Blackpool's was non violent, lets be clear on that, but there is still the financial loss that Hudds fans have suffered.

Perhaps we should ask Warnock for our money back when he caused the abandonment at the battle of BDTBL against WBA

Megson and the WBA chairman were both suggesting it was Warnock's fault. Bert doesn't recall Warnock taking legal action against them so he's hardly likely to be on the blower to Rumpole of the Bailey as soon as he reads this.
