Oyston out

As hard as it is, the only way for them to get rid of Oyston is to vote with their wallets, not having a half-hearted chant at away grounds on 53 minutes when he won't even be there. I feel sorry for the fans, I've got plenty of mates who are 'suffering' at the moment and some have not renewed despite being season ticket holders for 40 years. As much as I have sympathy, it's not our battle. The Oystons have been in charge of Blackpool for 30 odd years and whilst it's clear what has happened since they got promoted to the Prem, it's not for us to sit in judgement or jump on someone else's bandwagon.

My old house mate at uni is a massive Blackpool fan and sent me this if you're interested in knowing more;

We ought to get behind it. We had some shocking chairman in the past with Paul Woolhouse, Mike McDonald etc along with the Sam Houshimi saga. Its nothing compared to what they are having to put up with.

I agree we should support each other but for me personally chanting Oyston Out is not the way to do it.

Perhaps, genuinely, continuing to publicise his rape conviction and subsequent behaviour might help.

Wow Swizzler! :)

When they were in the 3rd before, the owner hadn't paid himself a £10m bonus and allowed the club to go into free fall. It's surely a bit different now?

We may all by rivals, but there's nothing wrong with some solidarity with fellow football fans who are being shafted.

UTB
I don't think it is any different now. Football fans get shafted all over the country. When we came down from the premier league we appointed Robson... I think that's worse.

Why not, If it's clear what's happened? Why can't fans spend a minute of their lives em supporting them?

Morally they're being shafted but Oyston has decided to pay himself and the family back all the money they have invested over 30 years, albeit in a seemingly dodgy way and with outrageous 'interest'. That's his right to do so, did McCabe re-invest every single penny of our Prem money ? You can argue, quite rightly, that what he is doing is ruining the club but it's his club and he can do with it what he wants.

I cannot for the life of me understand what Oyston is achieving by sticking around, he could have sold out three or four years ago and made a massive profit but in terms of shafting the fans, he will argue that he has given them decent season ticket deals in the past few seasons and they have a better ground than they had 10 years ago and that is true.

Keep right on to the end of the road
Cup semi final at Hillsborough early 70's, Birmingham v Leeds. Five minutes before kick off 25,000 of them stood up and sang it. It was that loud even Silent Blade would have heard it. :)

Genuinely disappointed in some of the responses on this thread.

What has happened to Blackpool and the way the owners treat their fans and club pales any of our ownership issues in the past into insignificance. Yes I want us to stuff Blackpool 4 nowt but also there is a time when we should have some solidarity with fellow fans, especially in this scenario.

There but for the grace of god and all that, genuinely suprised by the lack of empathy and support on here, especially as we are all football fans we essentially share all the same passions and motivations. I hope we get it going.

Oyston Out.

Couldn't agree more.

I get the impression he revels in the notoriety.

I've got a mate who's a Blackpool fan and I made my point to him as we were at Uni together back when Blackpool were in the 3rd/ 4th division. As I said, they weren't boycotting in the premier league were they? He seemed to think not.

The only thing we share with Blackpool is football, football is not one big family, if it is its Family of bastard kids that don't like each other.

Were Sheffield United, we stand alone

It's your view Swiss and of course you are entitled to it but it suprises me. Yes of course we should put the fortunes of Sheffield United above others and the tribal nature of football we all love means there will be schadenfraude to our rivals.

But to say the only thing we have in common is football is wrong, we have that passion and love of our clubs too, even if they are different, which should then allow us to empathise.

It maybe a weak bond but, as an example, since I moved away from Sheffield some of my strongest friendships have been formed in my neighbourhood and workplace through a mutual love of football, not in spite of it. In fact if I talk to someone and they don't like football or cricket I will honestly struggle to get on with them as that's about 80 percent of my conversations they are ruled out of.

So yeah, I think we share more than just footie, we share that passion, that solidarity and that commitment to something we love that has been with many of us for generation after generation. So when they get right royally shafted, unfairly treated, banned from the ground for questioning the board, having only 7 senior players a week before the beginning of a season and people that have gone to see them for 40 years non stop are not able to watch their club anymore I think they deserve a little bit more sympathy than 'fuck em, they are not us'.

I will spare a thought for the Huddersfield fans who have not received a penny back after their game with them was abandoned on the last day of last season. Solidarity and all that.

Feck em, I only care about one team and the more difficulties our competitors have the better for our chances. We've worked through our issues, how many club chanted about cheating spammers when we got relegated instead of them and they ain't looked back so again.....

Feck em!

If I was a Huddersfield fan that day I'd have been more than happy to see a game that meant nothing abandoned. Credit to Blackpool fans for actually trying to remove an owner that is quite clearly taking the piss out of them.

I hope he doesn't try and take me to court now I've said that.

Completely different and incomparable situation in my opinion.

Not disputing the three points at all, I hope we smash them. But I wouldn't wish what's happening to them on anyone, even our two good friends who are on Sky today.
Disagree there is a need for catastrophic club failures through financial incompetence to highlight the inequalities of the few (PL) sucking all the funds from the game, money laundering and player greed earning £1m + per month.
We need a system like the Germans to develop our youth, improve the national squad and help fans afford to go to games

Almost agree, but I'd wish it on Leeds

Anything could happen to Leeds and I wouldn't feel bad (barring human tragedy).

Fuck Leeds.

And MK Dons

We've had a couple of FL clubs go to the wall due to financial incompetence, mismanagement and general bad decision making. They barely made a ripple.

There are others who could be going in the next season or so; e.g. Bury and Blackpool. Very few are saying a thing.

Agree with the sentiment, but would you be happy for Sheffield United to suffer in order to highlight the problem? Of course you wouldn't, and nor do Blackpool or any any fans in the country.
That's where the solidarity comes in.

I completely agree that something needs to be done about it and our infrastructure needs to change, but this isn't the way. This isn't through financial incompetence a-la Portsmouth, it's just an owner taking the piss.

I'm glad that you earn enough to render spending money on match tickets, train/car, and booze etc irrelevant. Never mind the 200 mile round trip to do so.

Feck em!

Man City were the first club to play at Upton Park the season after we went down.
Their fans were chanting
"We should be at Bramall Lane. ."

Haha, I wish I earned enough to find it irrelevant. It was the last game of the season, both had nothing to play for and anyone who was going was fully aware of what the Blackpool fans intended to do. If memory serves correctly the Huddersfield fans were applauding it.

We'll agree to disagree on this one Daz. Had Blackpool needed a point to stay up, I'd bet my last quid that they would not have invaded the pitch.

Bit surprised at the lack of solidarity, Oyston has raped BFC of any money it made from both the fans and the Premier League. Football fans should show their condemnation of such action. Thought we were in the people les Republic of South Yorkshire not somewhere down south!

We used to be so much better than this. Now it's "I'm ok so fuck everyone else". That attitude makes my piss fizz.

Sign of the times unfortunately.

Disagree.

One was cheating, the other poor club management.

One has no place in the game. The other is inevitable.

One left the fans with no recourse. The other doesn't.

Different, not incomparable.
