The most galling tragedies of the Blades are not the abject failures & relegations.
They are not even the outright conspiracies which we have unjustly suffered.
Not even the almost comical Hashimi & Ched type outrageous misfortunes.
No.
After 50 faithful years I can assure you that the heartbreaking ones are the missed opportunities.
The ones which 20,000 sensible souls could see but the board couldn't - or could see but chose to ignore.
And now we have the best manager engendering the best feel-good factor in the Club for many years ,
It's going to be fucked up by an ownership wrangle which throws every aspect of the Club into uncertainty.
Do you think Chris will put up with that ? He'll have to leave (or , as manager/fan suffer a broken heart) , two minute after getting his dream job. He'll be snapped up.
You've heard of Money Supermarket ?
Well the timing of this is SO Sheffield United.
Though I can't blame Kevin for wanting out at 70 - blimey I got out at 58 and have enjoyed my retirement thus far.
No , the guy deserves a rest from his responsibilities and it's not his fault that his sons won't take the Club on.
But the public statements are all inconsistent with each other and the Prince is silent.
And now we hear it's being litigated.
This is gonna run & run , like Jarndyce v Jarndyce.
All I can think of to say ,
Is that it's just the Blades' way.

heh. i often like to think that big Kev occaisionally comes on here for a laugh and chuckles to himself.. 'what are these people speculating about now.. they have seriously no idea.. '

Little bit more.

Owners hope to sort out differences before next seasons preparations.
McCabe and wilder think the way back to the premier league is to stick with British and Irish players and not go international
Van winked the sheikhs man disagrees.

The sheikh hasn’t generated any sponsors which is a disappointment think he promised to bring a few in.

McCabe summing up....his task is to get the sheikh to understand Sheffield United.
Thanks for the info and the British and Irish bit is concerningly blinkered. I don't mind if players come from Mars as long as they play well and respect the club and what it stands for. How many premiership teams are based just on british and Irish, none I suspect, why limit it?

I can see why they might be in dispute now and I can understand where the Prince is coming from and it would seem to me if the Prince gains control Wilder might not be around for long and for unnecessary British / Irish reasons .

The manager buys the players. If that ever changes, I wouldn’t blame him at all for saying goodbye

West Ham have British owners and at the moment that seems to be going south somewhat

The important thing is not British or foreign it’s about are they willing to invest sensibly and are they happy for football people to make football decisions and plan for the long term not seek instant success that leads to longer term financial issues and puts in jeopardy the future of the club.

Personally I couldn’t care less where the owner comes from or whether the players are all British and Irish or the dressing room is like the United Nations as long as the basic ethos and history of the club is recognised, respected and the players play for the shirt not their bank balances.

However, the give away for me is the bit about "McCabe stressing must maintain the culture and heritage and not call fans customers."

You have to smile, McCabe holds this Rally in a Carbunkle of a Hotel, a loss making Hotel, sumat no fucker wanted apart from him

And he is the guardian of Culture & Heritage at Bramall Lane

I guess all the Shareholders were noddin along

I say Shareholders, Shares which were diluted by someone in their business dealings so these exact same fuckers couldn't have a say in his business ..

Shares which now are worth less than a prize on Vern's Hook-a-Duck Stall at Mabelthorpe

I wish we (Sunderland AFC) could get a new owner. Best of luck to you. You can get yourself a new owner and then sit back with the popcorn and watch us fall through the leagues.

Personally, would hope you get sorted and climb back up.
For us its a long way back. Our club has imploded, needs new management, but the reality is that SAFC has been poor for decades. The facade of large crowds and now excellent infrastructure has masked horrendously bad management on Wearside and we will now deservedly (for management) go down.

It wasnt the fans who badly managed the club, it wasnt the fans who committed the crimes that puts our players in jail, it wasnt us who gave us a sackful of arseholes playing for us and so you go on. At the end of the day though management is transient the fans arent and its the fan who pick up the backwash of these arseholes.

All I would say to fans of other clubs is that dont get to impatient. The survival of your football club comes first. If the club is founded on good management, a solid financial base and a proper youth system, central to the club - then youll not end up like us.

Sacking managers willy nilly, throwing money around like confetti on absolute shite and being unable to control those players, throughrank bad club management, can leave you where we are - with a toxic club that in truth no one should go near with a barge pole.

Sheffield United has come a long way in a short space of time but dont throw it away through impatience.

Do you think they saw him as the lesser of two evils? I seem to remember MM being good at making promises, not as good at backing them up?

Formed of excellent intentions I always thought they were hijacked somewhat by a small group. The Independent Supporters Group weren't with them. They thought initially MM was going to throw millions at it and wanted it to be onboard and getting plaudits.

Great piece, and the reason why when football fans are regarded as "customers" it really grinds my fucking gears.

We (you and football fans everywhere) aren't customers. We invest more than money, we invest ourselves. We are the ones who travel far and wide to see our team. We are the ones who, no matter how shit everything else is, feel a little bit better when our team wins. We are the ones who have shed tears of joy or sadness in triumph and adversity.

I feel for you because those who are running the show at your place, simply don't get this. All that matters to them is the bottom line. They care little that a club with the tradition and support you have is getting run into the ground.

Shame on them.

To be fair, MM was a particularly effective Snake Oil salesman, so you can see why they thought that.
