The key issues for me at the moment are:

lack of competition

Partly because of injuries, partly money and partly because Hecky makes bizarre subs and won’t drop some players, there’s no threat of being on the bench for too many people. Footballers play better when someone is desperate for the shirt. Berge has been drifting for weeks (though was slightly better yesterday), Bogle is the same, Lowe is too cautious, Ndiaye and McBurnie also seem to be lacking confidence.

They need someone on the bench and they need to know if they’re not doing it, they’re gettting hooked then dropped next week.

Not getting the ball to our best players enough

Ndiaye doesn’t get the ball enough. He has to win it himself a lot of the time. Yesterday was mind boggling - lump it to McBurnie for a knock down. We need to figure out a way of playing that gets Ndiaye, Berge, Bogle and Norwood on the ball in dangerous areas and it’s been obvious for ages. Same when Brewster played - he barely ever got passed to.

Lack of competition we’ve got 2 quality players for every position and the best squad in the league 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I agree with not getting the players on the ball , it’s crackers that we now play ndiaye as a striker he is a 10 and should play there alongside berge only hecky can’t see that

The biggest issue for me is that we’re playing players when they’re out of form and there is an alternative available

These would be the starters

Bogle for Baldock
Doyle for Fleck
McAtee for Berge

Lowe is the only one that doesn’t have a replacement at the moment

Ndiaye probably needs a rest

We have the best squad in the division, plus a few duffers, but our problem's picking the best eleven and setting them up right. Billy, sadly, shouldn't be coming on in front of the likes of Jebbison, must kill the younger players confidence knowing someone the age of their dad is in front in the pecking order. Lowe's playing at the top of his game, the problem is his game's shit. Fleck shouldn't be walking straight back into the starting line up. Osborn will be straight back in when he's fit again. Bogle needs coaching, a lot, and until he improves, should be Baldock all the way and on it goes.

We're 36 games in and yes we've had injuries, but so have other clubs, 36 games in and Hecky doesn't know his best starting line up. As a player you like consistency, seeing your name on the team sheet and fighting to make it so you're in the team every week. Ok, not always As our Premier League midfielder doesn't seem to care but he's one of the managers favourites so he's safe. Doyle on the other hand, had a fucking stormer in the Cup game now and has to sit watching that lanky twat go through the motions every game while he's sat on the bench. McAtee needed coaching and games, 20 minutes here and there doesn't do him any good and now you have an in and out player expecting to be hooked every time the board goes up, assuming he started the game.

It's not about players this, it's about organisation, setting the team up right and letting them play, sadly I'm not sure our manager gets it.

We just haven't got any pace in the side
We had Plenty of pace when we were 10+ points clear of 3rd and right up on Burnley’s tail.

Those same players are currently shell shocked from 4 recent defeats. We’re frightened to attack like we were doing before Boro equalised at the lane.

So we half heartedly attack teams leaving our players in no man’s land as they tentatively try to attack teams but still leave ourselves exposed enough at the back for teams to cause us problems

Our attacks used to come from dominating possession, movement at speed and overloading weaknesses of opposition.

Now we get caught out and overloaded by anyone that has a go

Stop picking players who are out of form.

Bogle needs replacing with Baldock
Fleck for McAtee
Doyle for Norwood
RND for Lowe, or even stick Brooks in

I’d look to rest Ndiaye soon for a match for Jebbo. Jebbo should be coming off the bench instead of Sharp, who isn’t having an impact at all IMHO. Coulibaly should be in and around the first XI as well.

We’ve got more than enough to get the job done and get automatics, but we seem absolutely wedded to playing players week in, week out who are bang out of form and / or need a rest. You can carry one or two, but four players is almost half of the outfield 11.

I agree that Jebbison should be on the bench as well. Billy still has a role though and that’s to hold the ball up or be that predator in and around the box. He’s been a terrier this season, causing defenders problems with his experience rather than with goals

Yesterday Billy should’ve walked for that lash out. No need for it

Jebbison has still only had a few decent cameos so he isn’t the saviour from the bench, but he could be. Admittedly he’s looked better this season when he’s been used but still only for short spells.

He needs to be on the bench at least and his pace should be used to stretch teams

Billy holding the ball up's great when we're three nil up, the problem is when we're losing and the manager brings him on to........hold the ball up. I'd bring a striker with some pace on, defenders don't like that, not an old player with his back to goal, slowing down everything we do.

WTF FallowfieldBlade is actually talking sense.

Cmon Maurice he doesn’t do that

He gets the ball backs into someone and chucks his self on the floor

The team against Luton was lethargic and severely lacking in confidence:

  • The passes were going astray.
  • The tackling was very poor.
  • They were struggling to hold on to the ball.
  • There was very little energy, flair and inspiration.
The team we put out against Spurs was a breath of fresh air that blew away a top 4 Premier League side at the time.
Maybe we should be looking at what we got (accidently) right. Youth, energy, confidence and the swagger to go out get the job done.
Some off the players are looking tired and jaded and need time off to rest and recuperate.

But sadly, that's about all he's equipped to do now. Defenders know what they're going to get, he doesn't roll off them anymore, can't beat them for pace but worst of all, he doesn't look for space in the box like he used to because he's too busy looking for cheap free kicks 40 yards away from goal.

We don’t have two quality players for each position. We don’t have a good left wing back, left sided centre half (Clark isn’t fit often enough), third striker, goalkeeper or enough competition for midfield. We have four central midfielders who are good - if two of them aren’t at it we struggle. And that is happening a lot at the moment.

In one word.. Desire..

But why would you run your blood to piss, and put your body on the line, risking your future employment for a club that doesn't give a fuck if you're a united player or not after May..

Note: professional footballers coming out of contract don't put 100% in, and that means they don't win many games, see John lundstram for an example.

And its funny as soon as the embargo kicked in, we started losing..

Think about it..

For this level we do

I would say every player we have would walk into most team in this league

Current crop are too complacent, got away with it but now being found out. Either step it up or fuck off. Apart from Iliman, McBurnie and Baldock. The rest are getting too fucking confident for their own good, now Burnley have pulled away, their drive has gone. Hecky doesn’t have the tactical know how to Plan B in games, fuck all discipline and overall tactics. Wilder up till the end made us so well drilled, we played like a fucking Pep or Klopp side, everyone knew their role and we out played most teams.

Fucking criminal it’s got like this with Norwood, Fleck, Stevens and Sharp etc. Promotion winning players. Shows how weak Hecky is.

It shouldn’t be like this, but it is.

Team against Spurs, better than the fucking Dad’s army were putting out at the moment.

I’d give Bogle a run I’m MF, Furious George to RB and bench Berge

Other thing we need instead of sh!t crosses are through balls int middle channels and McN / Ndiaye running on to them. We play too wide 100% of the time but we’re crap at crossing.
