You also have to remember, if you don't wear blinkers, your opinion doesn't count.

Bit unfair. Those of the negative persuasion on this forum are just as persistent in the rejection of opposite opinions. Some of us are satisfied with just winning games its as simple as that. No need for blinkers.

We do have options within the squad that would have seen us play with more width and creativity down the flanks. At the same time this would have meant less defensive solidity and less experience.

It is a choice, a dilemma, something that other managers would have done differently, but so far Wilson has made defensive solidity his priority. It has meant we've conceded few goals and often had enough quality to nick a match winning goal. The table shows that it has been pretty successful.

Whether a more attacking style of play would have been worse, similar or better is impossible to say for certain though.

That pretty much sums it up perfectly Bergs. I said pretty much the same thing during a conversation yesterday but you've put it more eloquently than I did.

I think this is a good point save for the first sentence. Those changes could have resulted in more width and creativity. There is no guarantee they would have done so. This is yet another reason why Wilson is doing what is doing, I suppose.

The problem move was not spending money on a winger rather than one of the forwards in the summer, it seems to me.

I do wonder whether Wilson is shy of internal promotion because of McAllister's performance. He was the only one from the existing set up given an extended run (until Long came in) and save for the first 5 minutes of the season he's been a big disappointment.

It's the blades way to lead fans in to a false sense of security, plus there is also the tendency for many fans on this forum to wear blinkers. As long as fans remain realistic ( I remember many were booking their promotion party for the last game of the season last November) we as fans shouldn't go wrong but life being a blades fan isn't like that.

Realistic as in, for example, suggesting that Tranmere would have a 20 point lead over the Blades before we got going?

This has stuck with me all day. Why didn't you just watch the match on Sky?
because if you don't get sky sports you still get sky sports news hd with a hd subscription.. when the match is live on sky sports normal channels they show goals/incidents straight away, as well as giving constant updates.. i can't get radio pig in derbyshire so it's my only way of keeping in touch.. satisfied? ;)

Didn't you fancy streaming it and watching the full match online?

yeah but i'm a bit nesh about signing up to dodgy sites :) and seeing as i was ill anyway i just watched the ticker on SSN whilst i was thrashing around in bed

edit: with migraine :)

yes some of them when looking at a league table
or the fact that its a much changed side adjusting to being without some quality we could afford , but now cant
blinkers also stop people seeing how strong defensively we are

some blades fans only ever focus on the negatives, they are the most blinkered

i'll reserve judgement to this weekend, when i think we'll really see what we are about.. perhaps my disappointment of losing proper football has clouded my judgement.. we'll see

clearly we are different types of supporter and i accept that. if you value results and i value entertainment sir, we shall have to disagree and that is the basis for a forum!

on the subject of luck, i will explain my opinion. once did i see us put 3 passes together and create something. never did i see us have a spell of pressure that convinced me we would score. twice did i think the ball was about to end up in the net - Harry's shot and the penalty (i did miss the first 10 mins and i know Blackman had a decent chance.

its not that i think we were close to losing. they created very little and we defended very well. i think we were lucky to score because in 90 mins of football, all we really created was a long ball over the top followed by a heavy touch by a shocking striker and a poor decision by a defender. if Porter controls that properly or the defender doesnt take leave of his senses, the game finishes 0-0 i think. we never looked like scoring apart from the 3 (of which i saw 2 live) chances. therefore, i think we were lucky. as i said, just my opinion.

If I want entertainment I go to the cinema or the theatre. If I want passion and a good craic with my mates and other like minded fans (of any team) I go to BDTBL.

Simple as.

May as well stay in the boozer for the craic, if you want some passion BDTBL is certainly not the place to be try the library in the town centre. :)

I forgot we we're still in the PL and the last few years have been a bad dream. It must be these blinkers I'm wearing to not notice this. How bad of me.

we are where we are, weve had 1 season in the prem , in 20 years , so its hardly the norm is it

we have to inject reality into it

we havent lost proper football , Danny just been set back a bit in the quality department and is trying to build again, not losing is a start , the icing has yet to come

Wonder if it will be in our lifetimes ???? :tumbleweed:

scored 2 from open play today , first win in our history over bristol rovers, step by step
every day in every way we are getting better and better

Overjoyed to have joined the elite band of teams to have beaten Bristol Rovers. I assume this means we are better than Barca, Real or Juve now?

Would that be the Bristol Rovers at #88 in English football or have I missed a considerably better Rovers somewhere ???

In our defence, the commentator did say at one stage, Mark McGee must be wondering why they can't play like this every week.

No but, as ever, you've missed out the thinking bit. When you are drawn to play Bristol Rovers in a cup-tie you have to play.....Bristol Rovers. There's no option to play Chelsea or Man Ure instead. So, the best you can do is to beat Bristol Rovers. We did that. You would clearly rather we hadn't but you are entitled to that view, however perverse it might be.

Thankyou know all no nowt, by the way how do you think Gary Madine will go on in Crown Court shortly ??? not guilty or no case to answer like Chedwin ???

a blade who can only see negatives
so no club from a lower league ever beats a side from higher up the ladder in the cup then say hartlepool , from our league no way they can lose 1-6 at chesterfield
hereford took out shrewsbury from our league

lest you forget we are currently 46th in the league ladder but hope to be in the top 20 again in 2/3 years, maybe just maybe bristol rovers might want to climb up a bit too their fans like us expect to be higher , much higher
your assumption our history means we should piss all over them misses out the fact ,the " better" teams weve had have never managed to win there ever before, including teams with woodward and currie in them when again in cup games they were below us

where we both are doesnt matter a jot in the fa cup

Porter's goal came following a corner.

the balls in open play the second it leaves the quadrant of the corner flag , and I meant its not from the penalty spot
Id accept another 50 goals from corners , not fussy, being pedantic the first goal always comes from the kick off

premiership in 2/3 years................ you're off your fookin trolley and remember in the past Rovers were a lot better than 2 places above relegation to non league.
Premiership in 2/3 years hahahahahaha as likely as McCabe's Europe in 5 years PMSL and as likely as Nigerian investment

where we both are doesnt matter a jot in the fa cup
Who mentioned history ??? my assumption was that a team very close to 2 full divisions higher than the opposition should 9 times out of 10 beat that team rather than be outplayed by then as we were first half. Even more frustrating is the way were looking a different team after the break, so we can do it when we want. Next game Danny needs to give them the half time bollocking before the game starts. Saying that we still needed a dodgy goal to win the game (Maguire drags the defender to the floor leaving Porter to a tap in) and we still stopped playing after taking the lead defending deeper as the game went on.

You actually sound disappointed that we won and like you don't actually want us to be successful or have any aspirations to better things.

You sound dumb, I would have thought the likes of fans who never see where we could do things better are the one's who have no aspirations for us to actually get better.
