How were they both today?
How were they both today?
Carruthers did a lot of things right, as you expect a player of his obvious quality to do, but his passing let him down a bit today. Looked perfectly comfortable playing in the deeper role.
O'Shea made a good impact, direct and looked after the ball well, we needed someone with his sort of energy and mobility with Hanson still up there with Sharp. I never like it when Duffy goes off but this substitution worked out well.
Carruthers looked a bit laboured and off the pace to me. Still think he'll be a very good signing in time.
O'Shea made the difference for me when he came on. Despite plenty of possession we created little with too many poor deliveries from out wide.
Fleck, Wright and JOC excellent as well.
My opinion - thought Carruthers was average compared to the team as a whole. Didn't seem to pick up the pace of the game.
O'Shea - looks an astute signing - very composed on and off the ball - good movement.
Just to add - Fleck was outstanding - It's a TEN from Len.........well, me actually.

Yep - ball in from the flanks was poor today - one or two peaches - especially from O'Shea for the goal.
Freeman got behind them plenty of times - it's an area he needs to work on.

100% spot on palI thought Carruthers was clearly a bit rusty, had a very mixed game. Clearly talented, and I think he's going to be very good for us, but I hope Coutts comes back in for the next game.
O'Shea was very positive. Moves the ball a bit quicker, and his distribution was good. Great cross to Hanson for the goal.
This is one of the best things i've heard. We'll play sides who are better at football than us (not in this division or this season though) and we'll need a few players to rough up the opposition when it happens.I know some will disagree, but it was nice to see Samir leave something on one of their players for his yellow card...they were getting 'stuck in' at that point and the ref was struggling....we've missed someone who can give a bit back...

It won't hurt, certainly if the reports from yesterday are anything to go by. A few cheeky tackles and 'professionalism' won't go a miss against the likes of Scunny or Bolton.I'm not sure of Bolton's style of play but I think they'll adopt an aggressive manner to upset our style of play. In recent years under different managers Preston have caused us problems due to 'being in your face' and I believe Bolton will see that's best way to grind out a result.
We may need some street fighters in the middle of the park to protect our ball players.
