After last night one thing is definitely decided.

Only bloody Walsall can do the double over us. Looking at the table below, it's weird how they just don't fit in - mind you the home game was one where we annihilated them and just couldn't score - wasn't that the game with 3 disallowed goals and 3 clear penalties not given?

UTB - Magic As Always

We have lost three times to them this season. Who were the last team to beat us three times in a season?

Yeh we were fantastic at home to Walsall and gave them a footballing lesson.
They hardly got in our half, nevermind having shot.

In fact just checked the BBC match stats
We had 59% possession
We had 21 shots compared to their 5 shots
We had 5 shots on target compared to their 3 shots
We had 10 corners compared to their 3 corners.

A real freak result.

And that's why I harp on about performances over results in the short term. There's more than one aberration on our results list from the season so far, but overall playing like we have done works out far better than Walsall looking back on this campaign thinking "Well, we did beat the league leaders playing like shit".

And the only team currently in the bottom half of the table to beat us. Bodes well for the run in having 5 bottom half teams to play, 3 in the bottom 4.
Before anyone says these are always the tricky games and it's the Blades way to fall at the final hurdle, the Blades way under Wilder is to anihilate all opposition, full stop, no fannying about.

Well, thank f**k Bolton and Southend both won last Saturday as it meant automatic promotion is now mathematically impossible for Walsall. i will only rest once the f**kers miss out on the playoffs and we can be sure we won't be playing them next season

Last time we got promoted from division 3 we lost home and away to Chesterfield and Southend. I think if alcoholic time has not blocked it. They both went down. We got promoted in 2nd.

I'm going to jot that down for future reference! Nice one!

I wish people wouldn't assume that teams at the bottom will be easier games

I'd rather mid table teams with nothing to play for

We have 6 difficult games to negotiate. Thankfully our rivals also (7). Who would swap with us now though?

Fleetwood, Scunthorpe and Rochdale are the only others we've played twice and not beat.

Bradford can join that list. Hopefully not though

IMO I don't think any game will be easy , and the league position of the opposition is irrelevant . Every fucker will want to turn us over , and players have a tendency to raise there game against us . Every game has its dangers , and we take the foot of the gas at out peril .

Think we are looking a bit jaded , especially at the pace we play at

They gave their all again last night and looked knackered the last 20 mins. Now they have a weeks rest and will come out with all guns blazing against SISU!

First footballing lesson I learnt was that the team that scores the most goals wins the game.....

You need to go back a few steps and understand which teams score the most goals and how those teams play...

True, we also lost at Aldershot and Gillingham who also went down. Dropped 18 of 24 points to 4 relegated sides and only finished 8 points below Wolves.

I was sure Barry Blunt would be on dispensing sound advice at least after the 4-1 at their place, but he wasn't. Maybe even he worked out that our superiority would eventually prevail. Perhaps the tit from Bolton's done the same.

Bellend Barry's gone very quiet.
