Ronaldo scored his 51st hat trick last night
20 of which are in world cup or champions league
in the same period of time sheffield wednesday have scored 2

which one is massive
Well Ronaldo obviously isn't.

Falls over at the slightest gust of wind

Ronaldo is the best player there has ever been. Knocks Pele, Maradona, Eusebio and Messi all into a cocked hat.

I'd agree, but it's all opinions. I'm looking forward to seeing an oldish bloke tomorrow in the pub. He's that 'rare' combination of a Wednesdayite who knows fuck all about football and never goes to matches. (He once told me that Messi 'wouldn't have got a touch against Lawrie Madden...') I can hear him now:

'Aaahd like to see that there Ronaldio playing with a laced-up casey that weighed 15 ston when wet in a pair of hob-nailed boots...'

That free kick last night was unreal.

It was but I'm watching France v Australia and France got a free-kick just outside the box on 4 minutes. Pogba took it, but if that wall was more than 5 yards away, I'm Stevie Wonder.

Scored 77 (SEVENTY SEVEN) international goals for Brazil AND Invented the British police force - all at the same time as holding down a nightly presenters job on national radio. The man was a god! Tell that to kids today and they'd look at you as if you were stupid...

...and he promotes Viagra!

I bloody loved Borbokis. To this day, I remain gutted we sold him. It was that era, that fucking board. Was he ever as good for Derby? I don't know.

I was a kid, I've told the story before. I had the yellow Wards kit, I loved it, it was the days before shirt printing at the Lane as we know it now but I was on the way to Drakehouse with my Dad to get 2 Borbokis on my shirt. The radio was on, we parked up and it was announced he'd been sold. We turned the car around and went home. Along with Deane and Fjortoft - I hated that board and that era. It had so much potential and they pissed it all away.

You do know that a member of the board, Charles Green, scouted and signed Borbokis and Dellas?

Just in the interests of balance.

And not forgetting his prowess with horse & hound. A true master of all trades

Are you joking? Serious question by the way!
No, serious answer by the way.

Utter drivel. He’s not even close to the great man. Know your history.
You should just dry your misty eyes and have a look at what's going on around you for a change. Stop living in the past, you dinosaur.

What, as in like Charles Green giveth, Charles Green taketh away?

He's comparable but he's not even the best player of his generation

Quite right. Messi is the only such player who would get in an all time top six.

Pele

Big gap.

Maradona
Then, precise rankings arguable:
Beckenbauer
Platini
Cruyff
Messi.

I’m pretty sure Thomas Hassler used to score every free kick he took for Germany.

That might be factually incorrect but my childhood memory insists it’s true.

Rivelino never ever missed one. Never. Not one. I was there.

He was the first player ever to bend ‘em in.

I remember Eder's free kicks in the 82 World Cup, so powerful the goalkeeper didn't move. In particular his goal against Scotland in the (I think was a free kick?)

It was against USSR and it wasn't a free kick. Just checked on You Tube. Post fail

He did score with a chip in the 4-1 win against Scotland but it was Zico who equalised with a perfect free kick that had Alan Rough rooted to the spot

What’s the average conversion rate?
By poor I meant by top standards. He is probably above average in comparesson to every pro player.
14/15

That was apparently his 49th free kick in world cup tournaments and the first he scored so approximately 2% conversion rate at world cup finals

Yer right but some twat might have wrote it down incorrectly in the history book.

What puts Messi above Ronaldo then?

Ronaldo has scored more goals for his country, scored more Champions League goals and scored more World Cup goals.

You can't have a best footballer because they all do different things, at different times against different people.

Was Lev Yashin better than George Best? I mean really!!

You have to take them in the time and space they lived and played in.

Was Ernest Needham better than Steve Bloomer or even Fred Spikesley over at Olive Grove?
They were all good but how do we know who was "best"

Because ‘we’ have seen Pele.
