Only me who likes Brewster?

As mentioned before, Didzy - who perhaps knows a thing or two about football - said about Brewster a couple of years ago : “I see him in training and, trust me, there’s not a better finisher I’ve seen at 20 years of age.” and “He will be a massive success, there is no doubt about that.” And Brewster was continually selected as the best English U21 striker, so other well respected coaches rated him.
 



A talented likeable lad but has hamstrings made of cheesestring. As I have said repeatedly I do think Liverpool may have misled us regarding his injury history.

Will he still come good for us? We need to have a serious revamp of our medical team to even get close to getting a tune out of Brewster over a sustained period of time. Despite his injuries we have let him down just as much as his own body has let him down when you consider the constant injury issues among the squad.
 
if we could just keep brewster fit i think theres a goalscorer there certainly at championship level but next season will definetly be his last chance with us

I think that the potential is there. It does seem that his injury history wasn't completely disclosed when we bought him, but nonetheless he has been disappointing. Still, I will support him, because his hunger is there, and I think he could be decent at championship level, should he stay healthy.

According to Flashcores he's played 69 games for the Blades with a return of 4 goals, 1 assist, 4 yellows and a red. 1 goal in 16 Championship appearances last season along with 1 assist and 1 yellow. But yet still some on here think he'll be quality at championship level. He's wank and he just hit a bit of good form for Swansea. I also don't get this fixation some people have with him being a nice lad or good character to have around, he contributed fuck all and danced around like a child when we got promoted, it was fucking embarrassing
 
Yeah its really the 5th year thats a charm with a player who's had big injuries for 6 out of the last 8 years since he was 16. He's never gone a full season as an adult without lengthy injury problems

Give your heads a wobble, whats the most games he's ever even played in a row for us?
His talent is irrelevant cus he's hardly ever gonna play

The problem is he was never injured at Liverpool & the Unders England teams. We've injured him ! PA was sold on him on the advice of Jan Van Winckel.
 
When Brewster started playing for us he was anonymous on the pitch. No movement, no positional sense, not able to link play which in my opinion why Slav played him on the right to get him more involved to develop his game.

While he has had a litany of injuries keeping him out. When we did see him play we got 1 or 2 good performances and that's it. His work rate is poor and still does not exhibit positional awareness or make obvious runs.

From a purely technical point of view his goals for us and at Swansea are more about giving the ball a good whack. There is a lack of finesse in his finishing that makes him too predictable.
Billy had that ability to caress the ball with control to put it beyond the keeper. Archer has that part to his game but isn't fast enough to get away from defenders but in a dominant team he would shine. BBD is an unusual one as he does shirk out of challenges but is able to use himself to shield the ball and able to use his body to push away the defender when he turns.

I don't know what it is about this club but we rarely buy a striker that has a decent allround game. It seems to be that we don't have the money or when we have the money we waste it.
Our squad is littered with players who have serious weaknesses that should have eliminated them as signings. Brewster is potentially the worst in that regard.
 



He can go with Sander Berge as shit but people like to think he's good.

Mcburnie also to a certain degree.
 
Got to say like his character. Did the meal and the works when played Luton in the championship. We lost and no player came to the after match chat, Brewster arrived and ensured we left with some character. Let’s be honest this season has been a wash out for the whole team. You can u der stand why Hecky set us up to defend and nought else.
i would like to see him have ago next season and if can stay fit, will score for us .

Think he'll end up in the Vanarama in 3-4 years. Injury-prone players aren't much use. And injury-prone players without much ability are even less use.......

And when this happens the posters on this board are going ballistic because the owner didn't have the foresight to get him tied down with the best contract ever offered by the club, because let's face it we all knew that he was going to come good, it was always just a matter of time.
 
I don’t think there has ever been a player who collectively as a fan base we all want to do well

And if he stays fit next year I think he will get the chance under wilder who signed him to prove he is a £20 mill striker


But will he stay fit ? I think he would have been better doing his ACL and been out for 9 months than having a continuous hamstring injury

Michael Owen comes to mind with Brewster unfortunately 🤷‍♂️
 
Brewster is now 24 years old and has barely played in the 4 years that he's been with us. His development is now 4 years behind other players of his age who've played regularly and built up experience. His record with injuries suggest that further periods out of the game are going to occur. Much as I'd like to see it, any chance of him making it at a high level has become increasingly unlikely.
Even Jebbison, at 20 is worrying me because he's played so little competitive football for 2 and a half years.
 
I like Brewster. I would happily have him round to watch a game and have a cuppa. Think he would be great company. But if I asked him to do the dishes, I would be afraid he would volley the crockery with outside of his boot into the sideboard and pull his hamstring in the process.

You’re right that the figures show a very very poor return on a big investment.
But Carroll was the British record highest transfer when he moved.
In today’s standards however, I think there were over 50 players bought this season who cost more than Brewster.

The record transfer now is over £100 million, so Carroll’s equivalent scoring 11 goals would be like £10 million a goal or something. There might be an argument to say the poor value of the Brewster transfer wasn’t as bad as that one after all.

My view is that some transfers work out good value, some work out bad value. That just seems to be the way it is for every club (injuries being the biggest risk factor). The difference with the Brewster transfer was - for once - we actually started spending at premier league rates after surviving to go into a second season. No-one noticed much when our league one transfers turned into flops (or stars), but when it happens with premier league money, the fee is all anyone notices.
 
Despite all the trauma he has experienced as a youngster, I still hope he comes good, (for us).
He will hopefully be in a.good place as part of the essential club rebuild.
The club has paid top money for him in fees and wages, and medical care. it’s only fair that he has the opportunity to repay the faith and investment in him. His of field temperament, enthusiasm and attitude deserves a chance, and he’s still young!

Unless you want him to succeed at a rival club, give the lad a chance.

It’s true, some people look back through rise tinted specks - I try not to be one of them ….

But … that performance at Wolves was worth the £23m transfer fee alone , and fully justifies why Wilder bought him
